Good for you Tess!
You are doing the right thing - refresh your goals and move on. There will be bumps in the road, frustrating, but keep going.

I'm with you TESS4U2! It's so easy to get distracted on this journey. And often we put more pressure on ourselves to be perfect than is necessary. But we can't focus on the negative.

I've been trying to get on track myself and I'm focusing on my ultimate goal. Each day, it's about trying to do the best that I can that day. Making small changes and trying to be consistent.

We'll get there eventually!

"Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world."

Hi Tess - I've fallen more than few times during this journey, so the first thing I can say is dont beat yourself up over it. Take it one day at a time, regain your focus, and get yourself back on track. Think of WHY you're doing this - that should help get you motivated again.

thanks littler-than-me-deb!! i LOVE your quote about winning in inches and holding your ground, that is FAB!! where did you find it?

ps my pleasure teresa, glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, hold your ground! you can do it!

pps monique wine is my biggest downfall too....it's a very difficult habit to change but i'm going in hard this year and facing the most difficult thing, and slowly changing my habits...i thought about what alcohol gives me that i want and it's to feel calm, relaxed, to have fun and to be able to let go. Then i realised that i wanted that all the time, i wanted that to be the way i lived my life every day, and not just when i had a drink in my hand, and suddenly drinking seemed less important and the bigger picture seemed much....bigger and better! That's what i'm working towards now :-)Hope this makes sense!!

I fall off the wagon about once a week. So I'm with you on that But I have to get up the next morning and start again. Wine is my culprit. I really love it and I usally want to have one glass and end up having more then one. Its usally in my calories but then I get mad at myself the next day for falling off the wagon. Good luck everyone. Monique

My monthly cycle plays havoc on my motivation & willpower as well. Remind yourself that this is probably the culprit for your wagon-falling - so this is just a temporary thing, that will be going away soon, and you'll be back to your motivated self in a week or so. UNTIL then, do what you can to balance your "hormonal" needs with your health ones. Maybe indulge your craving w/ a small treat - but don't keep any of it in the house where it could turn into a BIG treat. If you can, try to have yourself eat something healthy (fruit, veggies) before your treat so it's not _replacing_ something you need. If you can talk yourself into working out a bit more ("I'll take a 5-min walk around the block before having that chocolate"), you'll have compensate for the increased calories, PLUS the exercise may have temper your hormonal swings & cravings as well.

Good luck! Remember, this is just a small stumbling block on a long race you're STILL going to win!

Teresa,

Right there with you. We can do it. KATESP gives some really good advice.

I find that I usually need that Nike mentality. JUST DO IT.

Just get going again, no matter how much harder it is (which it seems every time).

Hi Teresa :-) I am an expert at falling off the wagon, i do it a lot!! I try and put things in perspective and realise that this is a long term thing, and that the occasional bad day or bad patch is absolutely part of the plan and definitely going to happen. The trick is to get up the next day and forgive yourself and get on with it, and also to have fewer and fewer bad days. Falling off the wagon does not negate all the good stuff you've done, it just means you're human :-) Do you feel like giving up altogether? Or do you still have faith that your plan will work and you're just tired? Maybe you need to get some chocolate and some chips and get it out of your system...you can't be perfect all the time and sometimes we all just need a break....Also, i have realised that nomatter how bad things feel today, it won't last forever, and if i keep searching i will find that spark (no pun intended!) to reignite me, so you've done the right thing by posting. In fact just by doing that means you're motivated so well done!! Good luck, i'm sure you can do it :-)
