My goals for the remainder of the year are:

1. To continue to meditate and spend quality time in silence, which helps me to stay focused on my weight loss and fitness goals.
2. Workout daily by taking fitness classes, working out at the gym, and swimming.
3. Eat more veggies...yum yum yum!
4. Cook more...
5. Track my daily intake
6. Stay active in the SP community
7. Keep a momentum to lose at least 25lbs before the end of year.

Edited by: AMANIA1 at: 10/4/2008 (02:43)
Ultimately, I would like to feel healthy in a body that I am comfortable with, likely a size 12/14 and around 190-200lbs.

Hard to believe this year is half over. Just last week I did something I have wanted to do for years. I took a Hot Air Balloon ride!!! It was a wonderful experience and it made me feel fired up about other things I have been putting off. Before the year is out I would like to lose 20 more pounds, publish two books and go on a few missions trips through my church. Even as I'm saying this it seems like an awful lot to expect in 6 months. Oh well, I'll aim high so I should at least hit the middle emoticon

Reach my goal weight and then continue add more strength training.

Continue to track my nutrition and cardio minutes daily on SP.

Rock somebody's world at least daily.

Maintain my weight for two months (May and June) then I plan on losing another 15 by the end of September.

Make sure that I drink at least 70-80 ounces of water daily with the summer heat and my cardio workouts.

- Walk to and from work everyday (This is 80 mins total! I stopped buying bus pass so I will actually do it!).

- do one thing everyday that will make me proud; and then tell someone about it! I may seem like a mean person, but it helps so much to have someone proud of me.

- workout while watching TV by myself (I have done this everytime I'm home alone so far!)

- track EVERYTHING I eat; even if its something I don't wanna admit I ate.

What a powerful group of women! My goals for 2008 include:

1. Making a commitment to exercise at least 4 times per week.

2. Strive to meet my daily calorie intake (eating healthy food and meeting that minimum calorie intake seems to be hard for me!)

3. Be good about drinking my water and taking my supplements

4. Make no excuses!!!

This week, my boss saw how excited I was about this site and she also signed up! Now we check each others progress and hold each other accountable every day at work. We have also started making Spark Recipies and bringing leftovers in to share with each other!

Hi All, No gym today but *I will do pilates later to help get rid of some of this soreness I have from working out. Wednesday I did upper body and my arms and chest are still sore. Friday I did lower body and today my butt, thighs, esp. quads are killing me. The pilates machine should help to stretch out those muscles and feel better again.
Have a great day!!!

This year is full of many changes to come for me. I am getting married and my baby is turning 18 and looking forward to getting out on her own. So my goals for 2008 are:

1) Evaluate my exercise goals monthly to accomodate the weather and my new increased abilities with each pound lost. General fitness minute goal is 1200 minutes a month.

2) Over-eating is not the answer and will not lessen any of the stress or boredom. So I will look for other ways to alleviate these feelings and stick to a healthy eating plan. Track all food!

3) Work on a healthy financial plan to help us plan for the wedding and changes in income over the next year.

I know that they are not all "health related" but I figure if I do #3 then I will have less stress for #2 and then have the time for #1.

4.get my family active as well

Negative factors, real and imagined, will no longer be obstacles to my success. To get over snacking I will stop missing meals. To get over not exercising, I will pray that (you fill in the blank). To get over have equipment at home, I will plan to (exercise daily . I know that I will be successful because it is my dream to live a long time and be healthy

To stay on track, I will have my friend (?) check in on my progress every week/month/quarter week and hold me accountable. This is my personal 2008 pledge to myself so that I can realize my dreams and live the wonder life I fully deserve.

Life is what is happaning while you are busy making plans.

HI Everyone! I'm new to the group (HI) I like the idea of women on a mission - that feels like me right now. I'm starting with just one goal. Last Jan 1 I decided to quit my 25 year smoking habit - i'm one year smoke free today! My goal this year is to lose the 55 pounds i've put on since my 10 year old was born! Hopefully i'll be successful with this also!

I've really fallen off the train over Christmas!
I am going to
1) Plan out my meals in advance and shop only once each week so I don't fall into the take out trap.
2) Excercise once a day, even if it's only for 10 minutes.
3) Go outside! Take baby and dog for a walk. Try to at least once a week.

I just joined this team (hello!) and love the opportunity to think about my year-long goals.

1) Break my cycle of eating well for a few weeks and then poorly for a few weeks by tracking my meals consistently on this site.

2) Average 4 hours of exercise each week with a combination of cardio, pilates, and strength training.

3) Finish furnishing and organizing my office.

Hi there- it has been a long while since I have posted. I got very discouraged after months of working hard and seeing no results ( in fact putting on weight) A new year. . new goals. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism which at least explains the weight gain- and difficulty I have had. Anyway. . I am here, and my goals for 2008 are. . . not give up and try to stay positive. Make certain I work out 45 minutes daily again. (although I have been exercising it has not been as consistent as I would like as of late.) I know these sound fairly basic. . but honestly, I feel like I have been through the ringer. . I am hoping this will get me on the right track.- s

Well, this year will be an interesting one, as I plan/hope to move out of state this summer - it will definitely try to put a cramp in my lifestyle/fitness changes. So, my goals for this year are:

1. Get back UP after stumbling - and don't let myself stumble around for too long
2. Reach my ideal weight/size, with input from experts once I get close to it (so I'm not fighting to make myself a size 8 when I really would be quite healthy as a 10/12)
3. Change my family's eating habits to more natural/whole foods - make our own meals from fresh local ingredients, rather than calorie/preservative laden frozen convenience meals.

Hi all... just joined your team. :) I'm half way to my goal weight... so for 2008, I want to:

1 - Eat healthy (1300 calories, 30g fat, 8 water)
2 - Work out at least 180 minutes a week
3 - Reach my goal weight of 164

Wow. What a great pledge.

I just found your Team. I'd like to join what looks like a powerful group of ladies.

My goals for 2008 are ambitious:

Set a PR during a 24-hour mtb race (this will be the 4th time I've entered this event) and run the Nike Women's half-marathon in San Fran.

I've broken those goals down into mini goals and written them out to help me reach them.

I'd sure like a "buddy" from this team to hold me accountable. The worst obstacle to my success is the crush of work. I have to remember to put me first in 2008, not work.

Hey ladies, I found this pledge in Essence magazine and thought it would be great for us for 2008. Here's the pledge for getting the life you deserve:

This is my year to be the woman I've always wanted to be. This year I will put (your name) first. Starting (date), I will foucs on taking the steps to achieve my goals. Ever since (you fill in the blank) I've known that I wanted to (you fill in the blank). Today, I will creat a plan to realize my dreams. This is my year to achieve four goals.

1.______________________________________
2.______________________________________
3.______________________________________
4.______________________________________

Negative factors, real and imagined, will no longer be obstacles to my success. To get over (obstacle #1), I will stop (you fill in the blank). To get over (obstacle #2), I will pray that (you fill in the blank). To get over (obstacle #3), I will plan to (you fill in the blank). I know that I will be successful because it is my dream to (you fill in the blank).

To stay on track, I will have my friend (her name) check in on my progress every week/month/quarter (you choose one) and hold me accountable. This is my personal 2008 pledge to myself so that I can realize my dreams and live the wonder life I fully deserve.

Then you sign your pledge.

Take time to really think this through and find someone who will really hold you accountable for achieving your goals. Always keep in mind, you are worth this pledge. You are worth the effort and the time!

Sincerely,

Steph

P.S. If you want to make have accountability partners with WOAM, then let me know and I can post accountability partners. However, ladies, this is for the whole year, so please let be serious if you do want to do this with one another online. Let's really make this year a true year of commitment and progress.

My goals are varied depending on my mood. Being that this is a reflective day for me, ( new years eve and my bday), my goals are:

To learn to love and cherish ME
To get a daily exercise routine started and continue it this will change as I get stronger
To incorperate better food choices and log it into spark - not slack off
so now they say if they are too generalized it isnt good.
hence:
I will do for the first 2 wks of Jan, 15 mins of cardio at least 3x wk and strength 2x wk. I will do my stretches 2x day everyday.
I will eat at least 2 servs of fruit and 2 serv of veg. daily.
and I will look into the mirror everymorning and say Good morning this too will be a good day filled with good choices.
Heres to ME this year!!!
I must remember with all my issues that will come up, if I dont put on my O2 first I cant help others... care for ME.

I just spent the evening working through my resolutions for 2008. Here are the fitness-related ones:

1. get to 145 (then I'll set a goal to get to 142, then to maintain--that will be a BMI of 20.4 for me)
2. find ways to increase my protein to 60+ grams/day (an ongoing struggle for me)
3. exercise at least 4x/week, beyond the walking I do as part of my commute: 2 days cardio, 2 days strength training
4. get to bed by 10:45 Sunday through Thursday (this allows me enough sleep to get up & exercise before going to work)
5. reward myself regularly & consciously when I'm working consistently toward my fitness goals--I've made a list of daily & weekly rewards, plus rewards for major milestones

It has been exhilarating to spend the evening writing out my resolutions! Now I hope to be faithful to them.

Healthy urban living in Chicago (Central Time)--lots of walking, train & bus commuting, CSA freggies in the summer & fall!

Right now my focus is to get back on my feet, 100% fully recovered from surgery, so that I can get back to some serious exercising in 2008 to lose this weight!

I'd like to:

1) Be more consistent with staying in my calorie range. (This is my biggest struggle!)

2) Eat out less frequently.

3) Run a 10K and begin training for a half-marathon

I pray that this year I achieve...

1. Stick to a consistent workout plan of cardio and strength training (4-5x's a week would be ideal)
2. Continue adopting a healthier lifestyle w/ diet and exercise.
3. Support and motivate SP members
4. Live without regrets and be the person that I know I can be. emoticon

Ultimately, I would like to feel healthy in a body that I am comfortable with, likely a size 12/14 and around 190-200lbs.
