I have a HRM but I don't know how to check the calories I burned, I use that just to monitor my heart rate while working out. Can someone tell me how many calories on average we burn by doing Zumba toning DVD for 30 minutes?

Want2lose20p there's a good chance you were gaining muscle. Give your new workout routines some time and don't always focus on the scale because muscle weighs more than fat. Also I am finding that alternating zumba with running days and other exercises is helping me not to plateau at one weight. I spent some time stuck myself and I'm just starting to see results again after making some changes

i dont know what i was doing wrong. i did zumba atleast 5times a week for 1month and ended up gaining 2pounds! I am not sure why. i even watched what i ate and made sure to avoid all junk food, alcohol and ate only healthy things with smaller meals throughout the day but nothing worked. then i got discouraged and stopped doing anything!
after reading your comment i feel a little motivated to start again.. lets see how it goes this time.. not very confident though..

I have been watching what I eat and doing zumba for 60 mins a day about 4 days a week and I have lost 7 pounds in about 2 weeks. It really just depends on your body. I tend to lose weight fairly easily once started. I do agree that 1 day off a week at minimum is very essential for your body's recovering though. Zumba can be very high impact depending on the workout and your body has to recover and get a break in order to be at optimum performance. I start to notice after 4 days of 1 hour of zumba, on the 5th day I tire much more quickly so just be sure to listen to your body's cues and good luck :)
I too think that 10 lbs a month is doable. You need to listen to your body and make sure that you are eating healthy (which is sound like you are). I would recommend you add some strength training in with your cardio workouts, and take one day a week off from your workouts to give your body time rest and recover. You do not have to go to a gym or invest a lot of money in equipment for this. Use things you have around your house and your own body weight. Good luck!
hi i just started using the zumba dvds. i have done them for 4 days now. i am not really good at dancing or following the steps but i definitely see an improvement and am enjoying it. eventually i want to lose 20pounds but for now I am aiming for 10pounds in 1 month. is that a reasonable goal? I plan to do zumba 7 days a week - 60min a day. Should i add running 2 miles every alternate day as well? i am eating healthy and am a vegetarian.
heres what i have been doing -- the zumba basic (60min) with zumba rush (15min) for 2 days and zumba cardio party (45min) for 2 days along with the zumba rush.
