Update: So it's been over a week since my first post on here and I'm happy to say I've dropped to 210 (actually as of today I'm 207, but I don't like putting it in the system until I've sure I'm officially at/past that weight and not immediately going to rebound) Very Happy! I've now done Zumba 20 minute express every other day for two weeks and i think I need to mix it up a bit adding some strength training and dipping into the full Zumba workout. Hoping this loss continues on! Pump it up! emoticon

You should track your diet. You may be eating more than you think.

Take one meal at a time, and start with breakfast. Try berries (or any fruit) and Fage (Greek) Yogurt- only 1/4-/1/2 a cup. It's very thick, has tons of protein in it and will satisfy you. Add splenda or Agave to taste.

With some people exercising is their tough spot, for me it's always been food lol.I have issues with eating frequently throughout the day (I always seem to skip breakfast or lunch or even both) them when I do eat I get something quick and calorie/carb dense followed by night snacking. Thanks to all your responses, I know cleaning up my diet is the thing to do so I decided to lower my carbs and up the protein a bit (I found I don't eat much protein- I run to carbs first). This was my first day, so 1 day down let's see how this goes! Wish me luck! emoticon

Losing weight is 85% what you eat and 15% excersise. You don't even have to excersise BUT it's much better for your overall health and wellbeing and it strengthens your bones against aging. Heck, it's great for everything-everyday living, sex, mental health, etc. So, WW uses the points system. I write everything down. Everyday. And I'm under my WW goal now for 2 years. You can do that or count calories but you have to pull back on the quantity. It's ok to be hungry. There's always another meal. And stop eating when you tummy is no longer hungry (NOT FULL). There's my wisdom.

Make sure you are watching what you eat. Drink lots of water. Nutrition plays as much of a role as excerise. Track your food and read the articles in sparkpeople about portions.

You are beautiful. Everything about you, makes you a amazing treasured child of god. Don't let anyone make you feel like less.

Normally People can gain a bit of weight when they start weight lifting or strength training because they are losing fat and developing muscle. I haven't heard that with cardio. My thought would be that you are eating a bit more due to the exercise and being hungrier. I own a Curves Franchise and this happens alot with the ladies just getting started with exercise. Or it could be the portions of types of food you are eating. Try eating whole foods, not processed and see if that helps and watch those portions. Good luck to you.

If you find something you love to do (like Zumba) that doesn't feel like excersise, you will do it more and it will start to change your body. It and Weight Watchers works for me.

Hello team! I just started Zumba (DVD) this past week. I'm getting myself acquainted by doing the 20 minute express every other day and 10 minutes of random exercise/activity on the "off" days; I plan to do this for the next few weeks to form some kind of habit. So I started on Wednesday and have realized that I've been strangely gaining weight since then. I average between 213-215 depending on the day so that was no big deal, but as of this morning I was 217 & just now 218! I know it must be water weight, but have no idea why it's happening- my monthly isn't for another couple weeks and I haven't broken 215 in maybe 6+ months no matter how crazy I ate. Has another had this issue before? is it a general "starting to exercise" thing? Thanks!
