Hello,

Mind if I join you?

I'm ready to come back to the group, if you'll have me! My goodness, it's been a long time! I hope you've been well, Donna and Beth. I really miss you! And Trish, I look forward to getting to know you!

I simply have not been in a place where I could deal with weight, diet or fitness. The pounds have been coming on, but they won't come off, and I just have not had the energy to make the changes in my life that I've needed to. But that's all going to change now! Right????

I'm up to a whopping 168 pounds! Diet is not doing a thing -- can't lose a single pound. But I am considering going back on a diet delivery service for a few weeks to make sure I'm not miscalculating my portions.

I've pretty much accepted the fact that I'm not ever going to be able to work out in the mornings, so this afternoon I checked out the gym that's in my office building -- I think I'll join, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to make myself go there after work. It seems so easy -- all I have to do is get on the elevator, and I'm there! I wonder what excuses I'll be able to come up with for not doing that!

Not much is new with me. I'm starting my fourth season on The Bachelor/Bachelorette, and I'm still liking my job. I look forward to going through your past posts and seeing what's going on with you gals!

-Mimi

Thanks, Beth, for all your support! You can certainly count on me, too, if you need a shoulder.

I apologized to my co-worker a few minutes ago. It had been weighing on me all yesterday, and this morning as I got ready for work, I couldn't stop thinking about it. You see, I didn't realize that something I said had hurt or angered her so much. I was slightly angry at her for calling me at home on my vacation day and I admit I didn't handle it very well (although I don't think I said anything intentionally hurtful). But why didn't she just say "Hey, Donna, what's with 'tude? Cut it out."? You know? It would have been so easy for her to call me out and talk about it. But no, she has to give me the silent treatment for two days and de-friend me from FB. AND she involved a student worker, who I supervise btw, and that student worker also de-friended me, although she didn't give me the silent treatment--I'll give her credit for that, at least. Anyway, my co-worker accepted the apology (begrudgingly, it seemed) and (sort of) said she was sorry she'd called me, as she didn't understand how important it was to me that I not be called about work stuff on my day off. sigh...I guess I'm ranting again.

Back on topic: Yes, it feels great to resist treats when I know they'll do me no good! Last night I think I did go over my max. calories just a bit, but I put more than 10,000 steps on the pedometer so I'm not gonna sweat it too much. Today I'm going to keep reminding myself that tomorrow is weigh in day and I want to give it my best shot! Oh, but my supervisor is sure to bring in a coffe cake from Panera this morning. So--wish me luck!

I did some more p.t. this morning (my back is bothering me somewhat), will probably walk at lunch, and after work I'll do either a full-body strength, or just upper body if my back is still touchy.

That's interesting about the milk. You might try a Viactiv supplement or something similar if you do end up giving up the milk. Or try a lactaid product if you're allergic.

Take care,
Donna

Aw Donna - so sorry about the childish behavior of your co-workers. I totally empathize. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and sometimes I forget that not everyone does this. I have a couple of folks here that I thought were my friends, but over the course of the last couple of years have realized they are definitely the "fair-weather" type. I've no time for that, so I do my best to keep things light, but always keep in mind they're not true friends, and that's OK. It's really taken me some time to get over some of the lies I've been told, and some of the embarassment, etc. BUT it's doable, and I try concentrate on those people in my life I really KNOW, and stay close to them. Keep talking about it Donna. I'll gladly listen as you've listened to me emoticon

CONGRATS! that must feel great to have done so well with all the treats around! You should be very proud of yourself. I thought of you late yesterday when I went to the kitchen here at work and there way a tray of leftover cookies, and muffins sitting there. I stayed strong, made my peppermint tea and left without picking up anything off the tray.

Yep, no surprise re the stress. The one other thing I've done, although now I'm starting to worry a it about lack of calcium, is cut out my daily glass of milk. WHat that has done for me is completely remove the pain, bloating, and gas I was getting after dinner (I used to have a big glass of milk with dinner every night). Anyhow, I may add a glass back in at a different time of day, maybe on it's own, and see if I end up with the same results, or if I'm OK.

TTYS!
Beth

HI! I did really well yesterday, thank you for asking. I didn't eat any more of the goodies. I did BARELY stay on track, though, due to hunger. I couldn't get enough to eat after I got home! I managed to keep my calories at the top of my range, though.

Beth, you mentioned meeting with a nutrition counselor, but not about the ?aire. No big surprise there about the stress, though, eh? I hope the yoga, along with proper nutrition, with help with that.

Speaking of stress, I'm dealing with an 'issue' today. You can probably relate since it deals with the unreasonable, childishness of people at work! Geez, I got a little grouchy with one person who called me at home on my day off for a work-related non-emergency (I hate that!) and I'm de-friended on fb by two people! AND given the cold shoulder. I'm so hurt and angry. If they didn't like my attitude, why didn't they call me out for it (in the nicest way possible, of course!) instead of being hateful and 'punishing' me. I work with these people and I thought we were friends. How petty!

Sorry for the rant. I've only spoken with one person about this who is somewhat neutral, just to find out what was going on and to sound off a little.

Back on topic: At least angry, hurt feelings don't make me crave sweets. Boredom and general, low-grade depression takes care of that!! So I'm still staying on track today despite the drama. This morning was my abs/back. I walked at lunch. I need to run errands after work.

See ya,
Donna

So, how'd you do Donna? If it makes you feel better, I have had two homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies as my evening snack. I have still stayed within range. It can be done with treats, but I appreciate the difficuly 'cause I wanted to eat at least 4 cookies last night! LOL And when the sweets are around, it feels good to have them in moderation. THAT to me is what real life is like and the difference between long term successes and short term ones.

I am continuing to exercise and do yoga each day and for that I'm thankful. Stress has been more a factor in my life these last few months than I thought. The nutritional counsellor that gave the workshop had us fill out a questionairre/survey and then scored it. Based on my results, one of the BEST things I can do for myself is find ways to destress. Did I say this already? LOL In any case, I'm a work in progress, but I feel like I'm making progress and that's a good thing.

TTYS!
Beth

Hi, Beth. Thanks for the encouragement. I need it today. I'm back at work and guess what? Food!! Food, food galore! Well, OK, I exaggerate, but a big ole coffee cake and some type of chocolate zucchini bread that looks enticing. I ate a very small piece of the coffee cake, but I hope that is all! (I HOPE!) Otherwise, my diet is going well and I believe I'll stay under my calorie max today.

I did my abs/back routine this morning and walked for 25 minutes at lunch. I might do some yoga later, too! And it's ttom for me, too! What a coincidence.

Coffee and skin care and DVDs--fun!

Enjoy,
Donna

Hi Donna! I hope you're enjoying your afternoon. It sounds like you're finding the groove again girl! emoticon Me, well it's ttom so I'm gonna put of weighing and measuring again until Saturday/Sunday. I'm confident I can get under the 140 mark though. I know what I need to do, and unless something completely out of left field happens, I should be good.

I'm expecting some DVDs in the mail this week, and I have a new KCM one to try too. I also am expecting a coffee order and a skin care item I got off ebay. That should help with my mood. I got out for a walk at lunch today, and plan to do some Yoga and maybe something else later too.

TTYS,
Beth

Hey! I'm here early, doing my meal planning and tracking for the day. I've had two days of tracking success so far and if I get five days of tracking by Friday, I'm going to reward myself with a little something. Some new bath and body-type of item, maybe. I love fragrances!

I've also been exercising and active. I worked for two hours in the garage yesterday afternoon. Today I'm going to visit my parents, so I guess I'll take a walk, but I'm going to do a strength workout before I go over there. Oh, and I'm going after lunch, so I can have my own meal here at home (for tracking ease).

I'm really hoping to lose the water weight by Friday and, being successful with the tracking and exercise, I believe I'll see a loss on my scale.

Wish me luck,
Donna

Hi, Beth. I would swear I checked in yesterday, but my post isn't here, so I guess I just thought about checking in!

I did really did well yesterday. I felt better, no headache or fatigue. In the morning, I did Workout 1 from Shape Redefining again. I really like that workout. In the early evening, I mowed my grass, since I never did get around to it during the week (too hot!). It cooled off this weekend, though, so I did it yesterday before the rain came last night.

I tracked yesterday, yay! I made a point to stay within my calorie range. I've started tracking today, too, and spent a great deal of time working on my Favorites list. Paring it down, mostly. It was getting too big and clunky, and my diet has changed since I first started using the tracker so some things needed to come off.

Speaking of diet changes, I meant to comment that I have been using more and more organic foods lately. There are a lot more organic choices these days, and sometimes I can find them on sale at a comparable price to non-organic. I take advantage when I can. I've also been thinking more about adapting to a more vegetarian lifestyle. I'm still working on that concept, though!

I guess I will clean out my garage this afternoon. It's about that time of year--clean garage, set out mouse bate to keep the little critters out of my car! That's the problem with enclosed garages, I guess. Anyway, that will be my workout for today.

See ya,
Donna

How are you feeling Donna - I hope it was a minor thing that passed quickly. I've had a headache the past two days I haven't been able to shake, but I can function OK. I didn't track my food for yesterday, but I'm back at it today. And any day is a good day to start IMO.

I haven't done any formal exercise, but I have done some Yoga each day since Friday. That's one of my goals for Fall is to get back to a regular Yoga practice even if it's just 10 minutes a day.

I made cookies today - they're about 100 cals a piece, but I wanted to make something homemade for DS and DH today. we had a big breakfast, so my plan is to have a couple of cookies and then munch on raw veggies if I get hungry before supper.

Again, I hope you're feeling better Donna! TTYS,

Beth

Hi. I woke up with a headache today and very slight fever, so I didn't exercise this morning. I went to a five-hour meeting (it's a long story, but it's a work-related organization I'm thinking of joining) today and when I got home, I was exhausted and took a nap. I hope it is just a pre-menstrual thing and not the start of a sinus infection or something!

Yay, about those jeans, Beth. I hope you get some good trades. I don't know if I'll ever trade again. I thought it was just a hassle going to the P.O. all the time.

If I'm feeling well enough tomorrow, I'll get back to exercising. I'm also thinking that I will start tracking again tomorrow, too. Tomorrow is as good as day as any, right?

Hi Donna! And Trish if you're still with us somewhere, I hope all is well.

Have a great four day weekend Donna! I wish I was having one too, but I do have two 3-day weekends coming up with Oct 4 as a day off, and Oct 11 as Canadian Thanksgiving holiday.

My eating/calorie range is going well. I'm still within range, although I've been drinking too much coffee lately and need to stop. I'm wearing a pair of jeans today that I tried on a few weeks ago and immediately took off, so that's good. I'm also trading DVDs on VF this week to spark some new interest in my DVD collection - I've got 2 Karen Voight and a KCM on the way - nice 30 minute ones, as well as an old favotrite of mine Cathe's Pure Strength (traders remorse on that one).

I went to a nutritional workshop last night given by a holistic nutritionist. Her main focus is eating as much organic food as possible. Lots of things to think about. I've been thinking a long time of having food sensitivity testing done, and I may go see her again for it.

ttys,
Beth

Thursday! This is my Friday because I'll be off work tomorrow AND Monday (taking a long weekend).

So, I did a little better last night and didn't eat as much. Still--I could be doing better. I'll keep working on it. It's mostly a mental block that I need to deal with!

Today was my employee evaluation with my supervisor and it also gave me a chance to vent about a couple of things that have been stressing me out lately, just a little anyway. I think I feel better. She is so nice and tries to be understanding, I think. She appreciates that a happy employee is a good employee.

Last evening, I did my own warmup topped off by the strength seg. from CSII (did my own p.t./abs, though). This morning I did a warmup followed by Yoga to Go (for my back, I really like it!). I'm going out at lunch today, so I won't walk much, except to get to my car and back. Not that I'd want to walk--supposed to be hot again, but cooling off tomorrow! Yay!

Take care,
Donna

Hi. Make that two nights, Beth! Two nights in row, I munched myself silly. However, I also exercised two nights in row. Last night I did the 30 min. cardio from Michelle Dozois's Ultimate Workout DVD (yes, I got a new DVD--a few weeks ago, but didn't use until last night). The workout was OK. I had to modify, of course, and I'm not too crazy about pushups in a cardio workout, but other than that, it's pretty good.

I walked at lunch today, too. A full 10 minutes. Better than nothing.

I'm going to have quite a bit of water weight this month, I can tell. No weigh in for me until I get that off. I'm feeling bad enough as it is.

Congratulations on your full week of tracking, Beth. You're in the zone and that's great. I'm so not mentally focused right now. I don't want to think about anything--but I must!!

Take care,
Donna

I tracked again yesterday and was under my max calories. I was feeling hopeful and got on the scale this morning and it said 140. I think I'll record it after I finish this post - that's after a solid week of tracking. I'm happy with the result, but know it's just the start and I need to continue the momentum.

I'm sorry you were mad at yourself Donna. Try look at it as just one night, and move forward. We have a summer like day here today, but it has felt like fall the last week. I hope you get cooler weather soon. I hope to get in a cardio workout tonight.

Hello. I logged my food in a journal yesterday, up until dinner time. Dinner went well, however, but then afterward all hell broke loose. I'll try to be better tonight. I was so mad at myself last night and don't want to go through that again.

For exercise, I ended up doing the 1st program from Shape Redefining. It was a nice 30-minute circuit! I can feel it in my butt today. Yay.

Beth, it is still hot here! I can't believe how warm it has been here this summer and now it's supposed to be fall and it's 95 degrees outside. Grrrr. The forecast calls for more seasonable temps by the weekend, though. Anyway, I haven't been walking much this week with this heat. I hope to make up for it somewhat by doing some cardio when I get home today.

Hiya. I'm still on track so far with eating. I know the real test will be this weekend when I weigh in and measure again. It will also be close to TTOM, so if I'm the same, I won't be too upset, I think...

I knew you'd understand about the restaraunt thing Donna. Thanks. My DH did too as he's not mentioned going out again since. I think I'll stop and pick up a special dessert for him sometime soon.

I walked at lunch yesterday and did some stretching last night after walking the dogs with SIL. I will walk agian today at lunch too - the sun is out but the wind is strang and cool. A passing hurricaine is supposed to give us a breath of summer-like air tomorrow, but likely that'll be it and autumn temps are here to stay.

I made Chicken and brown rice soup in the crock pot for my lunches this week. SOunds like we're both doing well in the planning dept. Donna!

TTYS,
Beth

Hello. I had a busy weekend and didn't eat too badly except for Friday night when I just had to get some ice cream when I was in the grocery store. I didn't get around to doing any workouts, either, but I was busy with several little projects around the house, so I hope I at least burned more calories than if I'd been sitting still. I'm planning to mow grass again this week, so that will cover a couple of week nights worth of exercise. Tonight, I guess I'll do CSII again, or a circuit (not mowing tonight!).

I cooked some turkey breast yesterday (with red onions--yum!) and will have it on hand this week. I'm planning to put it to good use in salads or sauteed with brown rice and veggies.

I understand, Beth, how hard it is to track restaurant food when you're in the tracking groove and don't want to get out of it. Good for you!

Hi All. Happy Sunday. I weighed and measured yesterday, so I'll have a good solid base line for next week. I talked DH out of going to a restaurant this weekend, so I'm happy about that. I'm just getting back to tracking and eating within my calorie range, and don't want to go out to a restaurant where ther's no nutritional information available and BLOW my efforts. Does that make any sense? I mean I could always guess, but wouldn't be sure...

Exercise? well I'm active, but not back to formal workouts. That will change today.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend,

Beth

Hi! Happy Friday! I'm starting to think about goals again, but I'm thinking about setting goals for fall, goals on a weekly/daily basis, and what mini reward I shall receive for accomplishing them!

DH is finally done with nights, so I'm hoping regular exercise will be back for me starting this weekend. My eating has been under control the last 3 days running, and today looks good too. I think I'll weigh and measure and record tomorrow and start doing that on at least a bi-weekly basis.

It sounds like your inthe right groove Donna! And I'm sure the gain isn't due to this last week - I think it's like you said. We know this works, we just have to keep at it right?

TTYS! Have a great weekend!

Thanks for checking on those jeans for me, Beth. We have a Macy's in Carbondale, so I'll check there. It's smaller than the St. Louis area stores, though, and they don't carry everything. I would like to go to St. Louis sometime soon, since it has been so long since I was last there.

Congrats on the tracking! I feel like I've been doing better this week with my eating, but I weighed in yesterday at 157. Eeeck. I hope that was a delayed response from last week's lazy/overeating days. I can't see that my actions from this week would have caused a gain. I'll check again next week and see if I can get those numbers down.

Today, some co-workers and I are going to a Chinese buffet for lunch. I've tried to think rationally about this. I should just stick with one or two entrees (instead taste-testing a little of everything!). That should be easier, calorie-wise, to keep myself in check.

Exercise is going well. I did have to take a break yesterday due to back twinges, but I think I'm better today so I should be good to go for the weekend. I'm already thinking about which DVD(s) I want to use next!

Hey Donna! You can find the stores nearest you here:

I typed in St. Louis 'cause I seem to remember you going shopping there? Anyway, both Dillards and Macy's come up as carrying them.

Hi Beth. I've seen ads for those NYDJs, but have not seen them in any stores around here. I like to try before I buy, so I rarely buy clothes online. Did you buy yours in a store? If so, which one(s)?

Yes, I was having back and shoulder/neck pain the other night after doing CSII. I think I can avoid doing the moves that may have contributed to that pain, though. Maybe I should skip more of the core exercises and just sub my p.t. moves during those parts of the workout.

That's great about the tracking. I have been measuring and figuring up some of my food, but have not been plugging in to the tracker, so I don't know my totals. I'm just trying to 'keep it real,' not over eat, etc. And my exercise has been going very well. I've been walking at lunch plus after work workouts, so I'm pretty proud of that. My pedometer has been working hard this week!

Hello! Happy Hump Day! I had a great day of tracking food yesterday, and I'm on track today as well! One area I struggle with in tracking is on the weekends when DH usually starts the day off with a BIG breakfast, that he insists on making himself (translation: he uses all eggs in an omelette instead of half eggs and half egg whites like I would, uses way more cheese, etc. etc.) I think I can work with him on it though. I told him I'm re-committed to tracking my food and losing what I've put on in the last year+. The other great thing about my keeping track this week is that I'm doing it while totally off schedule! DH is on a night shift this week, my folks were in overnight last night, etc. If I can manage to do it this week, I think I'll be good for the duration.

Donna, have you ever tried NYDJ Jeans (Not your Daughters' Jeans)? They're expensive, at least for me, but they are meant for curvy women and they do slim you as well. I have a pair and DH ALWAYS comments when I wear them about how nice everything looks in them emoticon

I hope Complete Sleek isn't the culprit and you can continue with it. I woke up this morning with pain in my neck/shoulder. YUCK!

Gotta go! Hope this positive energy continues for all of us as the week rolls on!

Hi! Well, if I get a coffeemaker, I think I might get a Cuisinart because they seem to go on sale around here often, so I know I can get a good deal. And they are good enough for me. I think.

Jeans would also be a fun reward. Something that makes me feel great about my body and proud of all my hard work to get to that point.

I did CSII again after work yesterday. I think it caused me some discomfort in the night, though. I had to get up and take some ibuprofen in order to get back to sleep. Hmmm. I'll try in once more (tomorrow evening) and if I still continue to have an 'aftermath,' I guess I'll move on to another workout. Grrr....

You sure can copy Donna, although I gotta say, an expensive coffee maker is a GREAT reward too. We have a Keurig that SIL got us for Christmas last year and we are TOTALLY addicted to it now! LOL

Beth, my positive attitude sort of comes and goes, but I do feel like I've accomplished something, and that is always a good feeling.

Expensive jeans! Dare I consider doing something like that? For my reward, I was thinking more like an expensive coffeemaker! LOL Where are my priorities these days? I'm not thinking straight. Can I copy your reward, Beth? I want expensive jeans, too!

I can tell in your post your spirits are lifted Donna! emoticon I'm feeling very tired today - DH is starting a night shift for just this week, and since I was off today, I decided to try stay up late with him. I still had to get up for 7AM to get DS ready and off to school though, so I'm dragging. I'll be in bed early tonight.

I put jeans on Saturday night for the first time since early June or before. THAT tells me I need to work harder at getting to my goal weight again. new jeans (expensive ones) are going to be my goal reward.

Gotta go - DS wants me to do something with him. TTYS!

Happy Monday! I didn't track my food, but I think I ate reasonably well over the weekend. Also, I was pretty active most of the time. And on Saturday, I did Karen Voight's Complete Sleek, which I think I'm going to continue to do for a week or two. I really like it: It's about 20 minutes of cardio and 20-25 minutes of strength, hitting every spot and then some. I felt sore the next day in all the right places. I added my knee p.t. on Sunday, because CS did seem a bit weak in lower body work, but I like to do my p.t., anyway, so no biggie. Also, I'll continue to do as much walking as possible, now that the weather is milder. I love getting outside now!

See ya,

Hello! I'm doing fairly well today, but we've got a college picnic later (BBQ from one of our wonderful local restaurants!). Oh, well. At least I exercised. And it's not buffet-style, so there will be a limit (portion control) as to how much I eat. That'll help.

Hi Beth. My problem isn't that I don't go shopping. It's that I can't find anything I like that looks good on me (in my opinion, anyway). I tell myself that I don't like the new styles these days. They aren't flattering on most real women, and they certainly aren't flattering on ME! But, then maybe it's not the newer styles. Maybe it's just me. I'm too big to wear them and do them justice.

Although I haven't been doing much with my workout DVDs, I have been exercising quite a bit. Walking, doing my p.t. and other strength moves (just did a short barre-type workout while my Lean Cuisine was heating up in the microwave!).

Dieting is a struggle. I think I'm struggling with depression (not feeling good about my work situation, either--maybe your DH and I can form a club!), which doesn't help my eating at all. Especially in the evenings. I really need to find something to do, I guess. I need to get out more. Or find something to keep me busy and on my feet. I need a hobby--but one that doesn't cost too much.

That's all for now,

Hey Donna. I too am maintaining. That's better than gaining but not as good as losing eh? SIGH. I have an idea re the clothes: buy something wonderful that fits you NOW and makes you feel good about you. Don't spend a fortune, but get something nice. The way I'm built, I can often buy a top or a jacket and it will still fit me now and when I am smaller. OR, there's always shoes or boots - get a GREAT pair. Like I said, get one thing that makes you feel wonderful NOW, and maybe that will help inspire you toward a newer wardrobe and weightloss? I also like to set reward goals, and need to do this. Something like a new pair of jeans once I hit a particular number (on the scale or tape measure). Or even a small reward for a good day/week of exercise or tracking like a new nail polish, mascara, etc. Anything excpet chocolate or food as a reward eh? LOL

I was super busy at work the last couple of days - didn't even have time to track, but I think I did OK. Today I will try my best to track it ALL.

As for what's on my mind lately, I have to say it's my DH - he's a bit down and not feeling good about his work, as well as some things going on with his family. I know he's just in a funk and he'll snap out of it. But I'll still worry until he does.

It's taken me all morning to finsih this post - another busy one for me! TTYL,

Beth

Hi. I've been maintaining, and while that's not devastating, it is not where I want to be. I want to slim down and not have so much trouble finding attractive clothes that fit me. I've been thinking about my clothes quite a lot lately, and there isn't anything in my closet that I really like any more. I used to really like shopping and always had at least two or three outfits in my closet that I couldn't wait to wear. So, I need to remember this when I want to pig out on sweets and not do my workouts, right? But it is easy to say that now, after I've just had my snack and I'm not hungry. And I've already exercised today, so I wouldn't feel too guilty if I just went home after work and took it easy. It's when the going gets tough that I tend to give in and forget about my goals.

Just thinking out loud today. What's on YOUR mind?

Hi Beth and Trish. I'm relieved to hear the hurricane wasn't too bad for you, Beth.

OK, so I did have a corn dog and a fiddlestick (ice cream with chocolate/peanut coating). I also walked alot and mowed grass over the weekend. My eating was not good, but at least I exercised.

As per journaling, Trish, I have been writing down bits and pieces of my diet, but not everything. My intentions are always good, but I've been out of control, lately, so it doesn't all get in there. I also record my workouts or other exercise, plus thoughts, feelings, things going on in my world. I'm out of practice, though, so sometimes I just sit and stare at a blank page! It's a lot harder than I remember, it seems. I don't know where or how to begin sometimes. But I'm trying. I've been pretty consistent this past week, at least.

Hi all.

Beth, so glad to hear that you are safe. That is scary stuff.

Donna, did you have fun at the fair?
One good thing for me at the fair is that I am not really attracted to all that FOOD ON A STICK! emoticon

When you journal is it mainly your thoughts or an atual food only journal? I have never been really good at journaling, Recording what I eat on SP and being in checkins is the most successful I have been.

I still have not been recording for now though. I may wait till my family leaves and my son's birthday is over, I can see the calorie counts will be too high and don't want to be depressed, plus I won't have time.

I am holding steady and enjoying my workouts. I have really grown to love Cathe's MMA Boxing and Kicboxing workouts and have been doing those along with barre.
I guess I am a wimp since so many people on VF complained that those are too easy, I get a great workout from them. At this time I just don't want to mess with pulling out lots of equipment except my Fluidity bar and a few light dumbells.

Have a great week all. My family comes in Thursday so I have lots of cleaning the next few days. Ugh.

Hiya! Just popping in to say we're OK and we are one of the few that didn't lose power. My inlaws haven't had power since about noon yesterday. Hopefully all will be restored by tomorrow night, but there were a lot of downed trees, etc from teh storm. We spent the morning picking up the branches, etc in the yard - we lost a couple of big ones off our largest tree, but luckily nothing hit the deck or pool or caused any damage.

I'm hoping to get back to routine exercise and eating tomorrow. TTYS!

Hi Trish and Beth! Glad to see you both.

Beth, I hope your power doesn't go out. Stay safe!

Trish, have a great birthday for your DS. Those are special times. Did you have fun in LA? Do anything special?

I walked at lunch today, but my pedometer must have reset itself or something. It only reads 782 steps right now and I had over 3000 before I went to lunch!! I hate when that happens.

I've been pretty good about journaling, if not writing down what I eat. Oh, well. At least it's a start. And feel free to copy, Beth. I don't hold a copyright on journaling, so feel free to do just do it! I think lots of sparkpeople journal. It's a good, effective tool apparently. I wouldn't know, though, since I can't seem to stick with anything!! emoticon
I don't have plan for tomorrow, so I guess I'll just chill out. On Sunday, I'm going to a state fair near where I live. I'm not worried about overeating on the fair food, though, because I'm going with that size 0 friend of mine who doesn't eat, so I doubt that I'll eat much, either. Great plan, huh?! And I'll get to do lots of walking while there.

On Monday (holiday!), I'm going my parents' house for a little visit.

Take care everyone!

Just a quick stop to say hi. We're all preparing for Hurricane Earl around here. Hopefully it will be a 1 or even a tropical storm in strength when/if it lands, but there's really not much we can do except prepare for the worst right? I'm concerned with my parents and with my sister and her family as they are closer to the predicted landfall of the storm.

My back continues to heal, and I'm really starting to miss my workouts. It'll be next week, I hope before I can get back to more regular stuff and maybe TF again.

Trish, sorry to hear your DH was sick! And Happy Birthday to your DS. Mine started his first day of grade 4 today. I can't believe he's going to be 10 in November!

Donna, I'm gonna think about my goals for this month. I've been off course with my eating. Nothing in my life has been routine lately, and I need that back to get re-focused. I like the journaling goal. I may copy that one from you.

If I don't post, it's likely due to power outages, but I will try as soon as I can. Have a great long weekend!

Hi there. I am still here.
I can't believe it was so long since I posted.
Things have been a little hectic with DH getting sick, took a trip to L.A. and now getting ready for a family visit and DS 3rd birthday.
My eating has not been exactly good. I am holding steady but at least not gaining.
I am going to continue focusing on barre workouts this month and who knows maybe till the end of the year. I feel tighter somehow with these workouts.
My husband commented last night that I have lost alot of weight so maybe it from the barre work.

Donna, hope the weather cools off for you. Soon I am sure.
Beth, I love the title.

Hi, Beth. Great thread starter! Believe it or not, we sometimes feel the effects of gulf hurricanes up where I am, but usually it's just a lot of rain or cooler weather. I hope all goes well for everyone on the east coast. I'll be watching the teevee for weather updates.

I, too, had to restart today. Yesterday was not good. I had a voracious appetite in the morning/early afternoon and could not stop eating. Add to that the ever-present sweeth tooth. The combination is deadly to my efforts to change!!

I'm doing better today. I had to run an errand to purchase items for my office at Walmart, and I didn't even think about buying some junk food for myself while at the store! So I'm happy that I didn't succumb to an old habit of mine.

I've been working out in the a.m., my usually formulaic exercise (10-min. cardio warmup, 15 minutes of strength/p.t., and 10-15 minutes of stretching). So at least I've got that covered. I also walk a little bit during the day, but we're back to hotter than usual weather, so my walks are suffering just a bit.

For September, I'm going to write in a journal five days a week and track my food there, as well. I'll also continue with the moring exercise, add on lunch-time walks when doable (the weather is supposed to cool off later this week), and TRY to do some DVD workouts in the evenings (3X a week) and weekends (at least once).

Hi All! I hope my starting us off with a new post is OK! I figure between those three adjectives, we should have everything covered. The rewards we'll reap will be Sweet! We'll always be strong in mind and body. The Stormy part is coming from hurricane season here with Earl approaching, but also symbolizes our stiring things up and making changes for this month. If it's too much of a reach lemme know and I'll change it.

My eating has been far less than stellar these past few days, BUT today is a different day and I'm not gonna make excuses or throw in the towell. I'll make better choices today. Exercise wise, we're in a heat wave, so it'll be the pool. My back is healing, and I'm feeling like next week could be the week for me to start the TF Prep rotation again. That is is Hurricane Earl doesn't do too much damage and cause my plans to change. Cross your fingers for us that it'll miss us, or be just a tropical storm by the time it gets here - predictions say late Friday or early Saturday.

I'm going to write in my journal today. I think Jim MacLaren will be part of the rest of my day - I just read of his passing over at VF. He is such an inspiring person. I wish everyone could read his story and tap into his strength. We are so much more than our bodies...

I don't think I'm on the road for work for a while, so my postings should be more regular. I hope you're both well, and Mimi, if you're lurking, it'd be fabulous to see you back here.

Beth
