OK, so one of the temp. crowns just isn't right and makes chewing uncomfortable, but I can't see the dentist until Monday (unless I call him at home, which I am reluctant to do). So a lot of solid foods are off limits for the weekend. THAT should help with the diet, dontcha think?

So--this has gotten me depressed again. I'm feeling rather delicate lately. Any little thing will get me down. I also feel bad because the workmen are at my house today installing the heatpump and my cats are going to be terrified for sure! I've thought about going home on my lunch hour to check on them, but now I'm thinking they might be better off hiding in their safe place without me. (I've got them shut up in my bedroom with their food, water, and litter box, but they'll probably be hiding under the covers all day.)

I haven't been exercising for the past couple of days, save for that abs workout and some walking and stretching. Diet, since yesterday morning, has been easy-to-eat foods for the most part. If I have to chew it, I have to do it v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. I think I'll be having Dairy Queen for lunch today! emoticon

Take care,
Donna

OK, what is this? Day four of me saying I'm going to track my food and then I don't? emoticon emoticon

I had a dentist appointment this morning, for what I thought was a consultation. Uh-huh. I now have two temporary crowns in my mouth and can't eat lunch for at least another hour or so because I'm so numb! BUT...it was worlds cheaper going to this new dentist than to the last one I went to. I can't believe the difference. Wish I'd known about this guy sooner.

Um--I walked for 40 minutes yesterday and was so tired after work that I did a little weed pulling (it's that time of year!) and that's all. I did my abs/back workout this morning. I doubt that I do much at lunch today. Our weather is great, but I feel exhausted after clenching a dentist chair for 1.5 hours. We'll see. Maybe I'll feel better after I've eaten and gotten out and stretched my legs a little.

Donna

Hello! OK, so I didn't track my food yesterday---BUT I pretty much stuck to my planned meals/snacks, so I think I was within my calorie range. I will definitely track today, though. AND I did the Barry's workout last night, as planned. I doubt that I stick with a BBC rotation, but I thought I'd give it a try for awhile. I might as well--I spent $$ getting that set.

I do want to get going with some sort of mix-and-match rotation, but I keep changing my mind about what I want to do. My goals is to lose weight, of course, but I think strength is really important to that goal, so I'm trying to get a good balance of strength, cardio, and as much walking as I can muster.

Glad to hear from you, Beth. So, this bully you work with--is an adult? How do people live that way?! I really don't understand it. And I suppose that, similar to my workplace, there are all sorts of rules that keep this type of person from getting disciplined or fired. Several years ago, I supervised an employee who was as onery as hell, but the union wouldn't let me do anything about her. It was so aggravating so I left that job and went to another department where I didn't have to supervise anybody. Problem solved! Of course, there were other problems at the job I moved to, but it was still paradise compared to my old job. I hope you can find some way to deal with this situation so it won't affect you too much. I supervise two people in my current job, but they are as close to being perfect as you can get, so I haven't had a problem with them. One of them is retiring at the end of April, alas, but we won't be replacing her any time soon (budget cuts!).

I'm doing OK. Yesterday, I did Barry's Bootcamp 20 minute upper body workout and added an upper body blast for about 30-35 minutes total. It was pretty challenging, but I'm not as sore today as I thought I would be. Maybe it will come on me later? This morning I did my abs/core routine, walked for 20 minutes at lunch, and am planning on BBC lower body after work.

Eating is OK, too. I tracked yesterday, need to get going with the tracker today, but I've been busy. My diet isn't perfect, but I think it helps keep me on the right foot if I track my meals, at least. (Some of my little snacks don't get tracked!)

Take care--and I hope you get back on track soon,
Donna

Hi Donna - sorry I haven't been posing much lately. I'm finding it difficult to keep up with everything, and truth be told, when I'm not making good choices, I feel less like loggin into SP emoticon

Hop ethings went OK with the heating guy. Any leaving early is a good leaving early unless it's due to illness in my book, but I'm having a tough go at work with bully issues (still), and a co-worker who abuses the flexibility we're given. YIKES. That sounds horrible, and yet I actually really like my job and work - just those two people that are causing me stress. Oh well.

later!

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend. I did OK on Saturday, except for breakfast (went to a pancake/sausage fundraiser). Oh, and I didn't exactly exercise the entire weekend. Sunday was a bummer of a day. Rainy, chilly. I stayed home and was kind of depressed. I guess I should have gone somewhere.

Today is a new day. It is lovely. I get to leave work early, however, it is only to meet up with the heating/air guy from the contractor I have chosen to install my heat pump. So, it won't exactly be fun, but maybe I can get in a workout after he leaves. I've also got my meals planned out. I haven't tracked them yet, though, to see how many calories my plan entails. I may need to adjust for dinner. I guess I'll do that when I get home today.

Hope to see you soon,
Donna

I've been very busy today with two meetings and a couple of deadlines, but other than that, I guess I'm OK. I walked to the Student Center for lunch (a grilled chicken sandwich and a few fries--I threw out part of the order). BUT--we did have snacks at the meeting which were not so healthy. I'd better be good for the rest of the day, and that's all I'll say about that.

I didn't get up early enough to do my yoga. I think I'm still lagging in the mornings from that time change! I did a stretch routine, though, and will do a workout tonight--maybe strength. My neck/right shoulder has been a little sore since doing the 2-Week Turnaround strength workout, so I had been laying off with upper body. I think it's a lot better now, though, so I think I'll chance it (but with a different workout for now).

I think I've struck a deal with one of the heating/cooling contractors. I'll meet with him on Monday afternoon to go over the details. I hope I don't give in to any pressure to take his price as is. (I got him to say over the phone today that he was 90% sure he would reduce his bid by $300 dollars.)

So--I guess I'll just try to be good this weekend, start tracking again (yeah, sure), and keep moving!!

I hope you are well,
Donna

Hi! I guess I do have a little sticker shock--EEK! It is a little scary, but I guess I'll manage. It will be nice to have a newer, more efficient system that reduces my carbon footprint AND my monthly electric bills.

I weighed today--I'm still maintaining and still happy about it. Now I think I'm ready to starting losing again. I did well today with the diet and I did a cardio workout (Kathy's Peak Fatburning) after the last (I hope) heating/cooling guy left. I've got three bids now, BTW. I don't know if I'll get another. I can't decide. I'm going to try to do so by tomorrow afternoon, though. Or I might get another bid. (confused!!)

Maybe I'll do yoga tomorrow morning. Something to clear my head.

How are YOU?

Your too funny Donna! Actually, I was nodding in agreement as I was reading. When I've got too much stuff going on I TOTALLY resist the food tracker too! LOL

I did Strong Knees and Quick Fix Satability Ball Abs last night - nothing toight 'cause we'll be going to the Globe Trotters. Hope the estimates coem in lower than you expect, and you find a new dentist. I'm so thankful we have almost full coverage for dental in our helath plan...

Talk soon!

Hi! Last night I did the upper/lower body workout (about 15 mins.) from 2-Week Turnaround, plus a little more work for back and chest ('cuz I don't do pushups!). This morning I did my abs routine. I'm set to do another cardio workout but don't think I'll have much time today to walk outdoors (although we had good weather). I might get out for a little while, but I need to run errands and then leave work early to get my first estimate for the heating/cooling system. I've got another appointment for another estimate tomorrow morning. I am hoping to get at least one more, but am waiting for the company to return a call to me. I hope I don't get sticker shock!!

I guess there is too much going on right now. I'm resisting the tracker!! All this business with the house AND I've set an appointment to see yet another new dentist (can't find one I like in my price range). All this is too much for me to think about and I know what you are thinking--must be why she's still single! I don't know if I could handle a more 'regular' life. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well--gotta go. I'm taking a short lunch today.

Oh, interesting! I watch the Office almost every day, too, on TBS channel. And last winter, I watched every episode (because I wasn't a faithful fan for about the first 2-3 seasons) on Netflix to get caught up. Colleen's voice is so much like Jan's! So, yeah, speaking of Jill Miller's voice, Jan's (I mean Colleen's) is a little grating, too, but not so much that I can't stand her. I think she's still a good teacher and can't help how her voice sounds, you know?

I did the cardio workouts from the 2-Week Turnaround last night. Today, I did a group walk at lunch with some people from my college. I'm not tracking. I do feel like I'm not doing too badly, but I still need to track because I'm always so tempted by everything when I'm not tracking. I'm bound to get off course.

I've gotta go to Fire Extinguisher Training now. (Sounds fun, doesn't it?)

Hi Donna! I still have a cold, but am at work. I didn't do anything for exercise yesterday aside from my regular daily moving to and from coffee shop and parking garages, etc, but that's OK. Not sure I'll have energy today either, but maybe something from my Jill Miller DVDs or Strong knees, core stuff or all of the above. And that answers your question about my DVDs eh? I did three sections Sunday, and I liked the one for hips and neck but wasn't crazy about the one for lower back.

Having to sepnd a lot of money is stressful Donna no matter what it's for. One thing I recommend is that you get several quotes from people who have doen work for people you turst - make sure the work was done a while ago too - not too recent in case problems arise later kwim? Anyhow, also try find a friend who knows a tradesperson who can look and see if the quote is in line with reality as far as costs go. Be wary of too low a price as much as too high. But you likely know all this stuff anyway - sorry. My DH is an electrician and often will help my friends, not by doing the work, but by looking at what other contractors have quoted them on and seeing if it seems appropriate and fairly priced.

WE LOVE "The Office" LOL and watch it almost every week night! You're making me wish I'd stuck arounf the Vancouver Yoga Show last fall to see Colleen now! emoticon Too funny!

Back to the Jill Millers - I'm not sold on them yet. Her voice is kind of piercing. I will give it a second chance though. Like I said I did enjoy the hips and neck sections (I did the 10 minute ones for each), and it came highly recommended by people I trust at VF. I'll keep you up to date on what I think.

I'm tracking today - wish me luck. How's your day progressing?

Beth

Hello. I think I've seen the Globetrotters (many years ago). I remember watching them on TV, too. They are so much fun, and great family entertainment, for sure.

I think another reason I'm feeling down is because I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and shop for a new heating (and, maybe, cooling) system for my home. It's scary because I don't know anything about this stuff and I'm afraid of being taken for a ride, you know? Plus it's a lot of money I'll be plopping down all at one time! But it must be done and there is no one else to do it but me, so...I guess I'll just jump in, get some quotes (I've been asking co-workers who they might recommend), and take it from there.

I did abs this morning while watching the Mayo Clinic DVD again. I think I'll put that on my wishlist. Colleen won't be by favorite yoga instructor of all time, but I think the practice that she leads is worthy of keeping for those times when I need to unwind, relax, and destress. Do you watch 'The Office,' by any chance (American version)? If so, Colleen really reminds me of Michael's ex, Jan! She amuses me.

I've gotten off to a good start with my diet today. Wish me luck. It's raining, so I probably won't walk today. I may try out a new DVD--I got Chris Freytag's Two-Week Turnaround 2-DVD set over the weekend. I've previewed, but haven't tried them, yet. They look good, though. Have you gotten your Jill Millers yet?

See ya,
Donna

Good Morning Donna! I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to post over the weekend. It was busy, and I still have this cold. I'm also sorry to read you're blue. This is a difficult time of year I think. Actually, this and the transition from summer to fall I often get the blues. Like you when I'm down I eat badly, and that in turn makes me more blue. And round and round we go. I usually find something to bring me out of it, but often I find I just have to ride it out, and really think about the things I have to be thnakful for. Often that will bring me back up.

The movie Up is definitely worth watching as an adult isn't it? We have seen it - went to the theatre to see it in 3-D with DS, and we bought it once it came out on DVD. It has such an adult message, and it totally puts me in a melancholy mood. Then once I move through some of that, it does bring me "up" so to speak.

My diet has been much less than stellar the last few days, but I'm going to track today. I have a tendancy to eat very sweet and very salt when my taste buds are hampered by a cold. My sinuses are really paining this time. I really hope this isn't a sinus infection, but I see my doctor on Friday morning anyway, so if it's still hanging about then, I'll get some antibiotics. Exercise wise, I've been concentrating on core strength and PT stuff for my back and knees. So far so good.

We were busy with a Karate clinic for DS Saturday morning, then DH and I got out late in the day for an early dinner and some shopping, and yesterday we took DS and his best bud to a basketball game - semi-pro league. Our hometeam won and it was fun to watch DS get into the excitement of cheering the team on. Wendesday night we're going to see the Harlem Globetrotters. I cannot wait - I've been wanting to see these guys since I was about DS's age.

ttys,
Beth

Hey there! I'm feeling blue--it's been coming on for a few days, I think. Maybe my lousy diet is partly to blame, you know? Feeling like a failure in addition to whatever else is going on. It's a viscious cycle. Bleh....

I did go to my parents' house yesterday and saw their new bathroom. Nice! I also played with my niece's dog since she is very energetic and Mom and Dad can't do stuff like that (Staci was at work).

I rented the movie "Up" and watched it today. Have you seen that one? It was good but I had to close my eyes in a couple of parts. Lol--it's a kids' movie, for crying out loud! I'm guess I really am sensitive. That's why I like Jane Austen movies so much. No scary and violent scenes!

So, anyway, I need to try harder with all this stuff. My mind is not on it. My heart's not in it. But I feel worse if I don't do it. Gosh.

Well,--see you tomorrow.

Good morning: I rented JB Berns' Rehab Your Body and did one of the practices for hands and wrists and previewed some others. I might give them a try before returning. I don't know that I would find it so useful that I'd want to purchase, though. Jury is still out. I also rented Mayo Clinic's Menopause DVD. I may purchase that one. I liked the yoga practice and meditations (which I did this morning), plus, in the 'educational' sections (food & nutrition, etc.) they just put a nice, positive spin on menopause that I find encouraging. Colleen Saidman leads the yoga sections.

Well--I'm having a slow morning and need to get busy with my chores and just trying to have a nice weekend.

See ya,

Hi Beth! So sorry about the cold. I think I've finally recovered from my little bout with illness. But I'm still 'pretending' that I'm sick--I'm still babying myself with workouts and eating. I need to STOP IT becausem I'm FINE! (Yelling at self--excuse me.)

I've been a little depressed today but don't know why other than I guess I need to just stop listening to any news whatsoever. It's all bad and it's starting to wear on me. (I guess I'm one of those 'sensitive' people.) Then I left my lunch sitting on my dining table and had to get something from the Student Center instead--junk food, of course, which I ate outside while watching the robins (it's a beautiful day!).

I've been using the tracker, but only for partial days. I don't see it through to the end. Bad habit and I NEED TO STOP IT!! (Yelling again--sorry.)

I think I'll visit my parents this weekend and get a look at their finished bathroom. It was only about half done when I saw it last. I need to shop for a new shower curtain and window treatments for my own bathroom, too!

Take care,
Donna

That's great Donna! I know you were concerned you hadn't been maintaining!

I'm sick. Not bedridden, but I don't feel well. I'm in the office though 'cause I was already out 2 days with DS this week. I plan to go home and get to bed early. Diet, well, nothing tastes right which means I won't eat much, or I'll keep trying to find something that tastes good! LOL

I'll try pop in from home over the weekend - I hope I recover from this latest little virus as quickly as DS did - he was totally OK yesterday, appetite back in full, went to Karate, and to a friend's place to play today.

Hello! Beth, I hope you're not getting sick, either. Take care of yourself.

I weighed in today at 156! I'm maintaining and can hardly believe it--in a good way, though, since I thought I hadn't been doing well at all. So I'm doing well enough to maintain my five pound weight loss. I need to kick it up a notch now, though. Yesterday's long walk was a good start. I'll walk today, too, but not quite as far. I should do some strength work tonight--it's been so long since I've done that. I did some abs and knee p.t. last night and this morning, so I think I'll do an upper body workout tonight.

I need to get on the tracker today, too. I think I'll be OK as long as I don't pig out on chocolate when I get home tonight (it's gotten to be kind of a habit this week! yikes!).

See ya,
Donna

Hi Donna! Happy belated St. Paddy's Day to you! I was at home with DS again yesterday and need to leave my office soon for an afternoon road trip/training session. I'm feeling very tired and have a touch of a headache - I hope I'm not getting DS's cold. It was so nice out yetserday, I went for a walk once DH got home from work. My eating has been OK, but I won't be tracking until tomorrow! Too difficult when on the road. At least for me.

Gotta run! ttys,

Beth

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I've been tracking my food today and have planned my dinner for tonight, so that's good. And I walked at lunch with my co-worker for 50 minutes. We went around the lake again--the weather here is, obviously, pleasant.

Hello! I think TOTM may have affected my sleep Sunday night. I started about three days early yesterday and slept well last night. I'm not feeling very chipper today, though. Maybe I still have that bug that kept me down last week?

I did a warmup and stretchout last night. The same this morning. I didn't walk at lunch--since I'm not feeling well. I'm glad you missed the wet weather that New England suffers from. Our weather has turned more seasonable (reasonable) so it's not too bad, but not really warm, either. Still, I would get outside if I felt up to it.

I'm doing OK with my diet, except that I have given in to temptation (chocolate!) over the past couple of days. I use TOTM as excuse for that sort of thing. Still, I'm not binging or anything. Portions are under control and don't eat everything in sight, so that's a plus!

I'm glad your back and knee are getting better. I haven't done much p.t. in the past 10 days or so and need to return to it--soon!!

Hi Donna! I was on the road again yesterday for work, and now I'm at home - DS is under the weather. Nothing serious, but general not feeling well/stuffy head, not much appetite. Me, I'm making up for him with my appetite - it's one of those days where my stomach continues to growl at me even after I've eaten! Oh well, TOTM approaches, so that's likely it. Funny about you not sleeping well Sunday night - DH and I both experienced the same thing. Weird. I did sleep much better last night though and I hope you did too. With my schedule being virtually non exsistent the last week, I avoided getting on the scale. I am feeling good though, and hope to get back to tracking tomorrow, or later today.

Exercise wise, I've been doing theraputic stuff for my back and knee AND did marathon housework over the weekend. I've been puttering around today - cleaned up and organized stuff in my workout room. DS wants us to go rent and watch a movie this afternoon, but it is beautiful and sunny outside so I think I will plan to go walking once DH gets home from work. Weather wise, we have had sunshine for the last week! The nasty weather missed us completely! Temps have been normal or above normal as well. Kinda makes me wonder what the second half of March will bring us though!

Talk later,
Beth

Monday and I'm feeling a little better--or I would be feeling better, if I'd been able to sleep better last night. I don't know what was wrong with me. It was one of those nights, I guess!!

I started the Tracker today. I don't think I'll go for a walk at lunch, though. I've been working hard setting my office to rights after the move back in. I had them rearrange my furniture and I think I'll like it much better! It seems more spacious, anyway.

I warmed up and stretched this morning. I may do the same this evening and call it a workout. I'm just not up to doing too much yet--especially without sleep.

I hope you are well. Did you guys get much bad weather this weekend? I saw reports for the northeast of the US and it looked bad.

Take care,
Donna

Hi Beth! I did have a good time with my family on Thursday. We went to my favorite pizza place (instead of McDs). I hadn't been there in SO LONG! It was good but, of course, pretty fattening.

I've still been a bit under the weather. I'll try, however, to do a workout today, and take it easy with the calories. Yesterday, I ran some errands, including getting film developed. A couple of the picutre were of me around Christmas time. Eeek! I feel bad about those photos. My face looks so fat! So--I'm posting one on my fridge and putting one in my purse to have with me wherever I go. I'm hoping it will be the incentive I need to keep going with the weight loss. I want to like how I look--I want to look the best that I can.

So--I'm off to do something now. But I'll have to see what inspires me. Later, I need to go get some fresh produce, etc., for the coming week.

Hi Donna! So glad you're feeling better. I'm in my hotel room, and I'm starvin! LOL gotta go get some healthy munchies I think...And I'm ordering room service later too. I'm beat. 4+ hours driving plus a field service call, and a info/demo session. Maybe a nice hot bath...

Hope to check in with you tomorrow night from home, or on the weekend. Hope you had fun with your family emoticon

Morning! I think I'm feeling better today. (Keeping fingers crossed.) I'm going out and about today with my sister, Jane, and my nieces (Jane's daughter, and our brother's daughter who now lives with my parents). We are going to do a little shopping and do lunch (probably McDonald's, my youngest niece's favorite!). So--I hope I'm better!!!

I did a little yardwork yesterday (couldn't help myself), but not a whole lot. Diet? EEEEEhhhh? We'll see how it goes as I get my energy back. I'm going to do some yoga and p.t. now.

Take care,
Donna

Beth, yes, you know me too well! I can certainly empathize. I've had lower back problems since my mid-30s, and have done some sort of p.t. for it ever since. Since I've been sick, my back has started to ache sometimes, so I need to be sure to include a few daily exercises--even when I don't feel like doing them. Remember: your husband and son probably can't read your mind. I think if they knew how much you need to do your exercises, there wouldn't be a problem. I think most people assume their spouse/relative, etc. is OK as long as they don't say anything that leads them to think otherwise. And they don't want you suffer because of them!

I'm doing OK. Still not feeling really well, but I'm going to get outside for a little bit this afternoon. It's fairly warm (70 degrees?) and sunny for the time being, but more rain is on the way. I won't work in the yard, though. I'll just do something really easy and get some fresh air.

Hi Donna! Sorry to disappear again! It's been super busy at home and at work. I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. The last head cold I had I feared was a sinus infection as well, but it DID go away. Took a while though. Be good and gentle with yourself so you don't end up sicker K?

I'm doing pretty well with diet - I forgot, yes forgot to weigh in on the weekend so I got on the scale yesterday morning and it's showed 141. I leave tomorrow morning, drive about 3.5 hours, stop at a hospital and do about 10 minutes work, then drive another 45-60 minutes, have lunch, give a demo session on equipment, then go to the hotel. I was looking at the menu of the hotel's restaurant and it looks very good. Not really that calorie wise, but good! I plan to do Strong Knees and some yoga in the room.

Which brings me to my next topic which I know you empathize with. Out of the blue my knee has started acting up and so has my S-I joint/low back. At the same time! GRRRRR. Oh well, I've no idea what started it, but it's enough to wake me up. I NEED to balance my fitness program. I can't continue to just do what I feel like. I have to stick to certain things or I'm going to end up in pain. I'm so glad the weather is starting to get better, because I so want to start walking at lunch again. I also need to speak with DH and DS about how important it is that I get these activites into my day. I've been so focused on doing things quickly so it doesn't interfere with my family time, etc, but if I'm in pain, I'm no fun for them to be with anyway! It's not that they're not supportive, they are. It's totally me and a guilt I often feel when doing things for myself. I need to fix that. I think I may write in my blog or journal about it. That always helps.

I'll be taking my laptop with me so I should be able to checkin from the hotel tomorrow night. Feel better Donna!

Beth

Hi, Beth (and Mimi? Anybody?). I started to feel rather ill late Saturday and on Monday morning I called and got an appointment with my doctor's physician assistant. I thought for sure I had a sinus infection, but she says not. Says it's viral and will probably last 4-5 days. Bleh!! That's NOT how I wanted to spend my time off. I was hoping to get on an antibiotic so I could start feeling better fast! Oh, well. After a two-hour nap yesterday, I still managed to do a little yard work before the rain set in (it's supposed to be rainy the rest of this week). Today I'm just taking it easy, but still getting some stuff done that I didn't do over the weekend. I've also started on that healthy recipe project! I haven't been 'dieting,' of course, because I've been really fatigued and don't feel like troubling with food prep. However, I hope I haven't messed up too badly and that I'll be able to redeem myself in a day or two. Exercise is also not an issue until I'm feeling better. It's only been a couple of days, though (since I was able to walk earlier in the day on Saturday). I may be feeling a little better today and, if so, I'll try to do some easy yoga and/or work on my abs.

Hi! I hope your weekend is going well. To take advantage of our nice weather, I did a 30-min. interval walk yesterday using the walking CD from P:Y (that is now loaded on my MP3 player). That's a pretty good workout. I need to do lower body today, but I'm not feeling well. Maybe a sinus infection. I've been congested for days, but now I'm starting to feel run down. I may call my dr. tomorrow if I don't improve by then.

Today I want to buy some walking shoes--or at least shop for some. I went to a couple of stores a few weeks ago, but didn't see anything I was really interested in. The local stores are, I'm afraid, too small and, therefore, very limited in their merchandise. I may try to get up to St. Louis sometime this week if I don't have any luck today, and if I'm feeling better!

Since all I feel like doing is sitting around, I should take advantage and work on my recipe collection and diet/motivation strategies. I also have some Netflix movies I can watch. sigh...Not the way I'd really hoped to spend my vacation time, but I guess I could use the rest and relaxation. It'll all work out.

Happy Friday! I just now noticed that I didn't post anything yesterday--and it surprised me! I must've forgotten. I'm doing well with exercise and have very good intentions to do the food tracking every morning, but then I fizzle out by afternoon/evening and don't end up tracking the whole day, if anything. But--I don't THINK I'm doing too badly. Today I walked around our campus lake with a co-worker (about 2.5 miles) on our lunch break. Today is probably the most pleasant day, weather-wise, that we've had since January, when it was unusually warm for that time of year. It is in the upper-40s, sunny, not too windy. We met up with lots of people out walking, too!!

I cooked some chicken breast halves last night and had one, sandwich-style, for lunch today. I need to cook chicken breasts more often. They're so easy, versatile, low-fat, high protein.

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that I'll be off work next week. It is the university's spring break, and my office is being painted and carpeted. Right now, my supervisor and I have taken over a spare office, but it's cramped and less than ideal for the two of us. Fortunately, she is gone to meetings half the time--but next week she won't have meetings, so...I thought I scoot out of the way. I hope to get a few things done next week, in addition to the usual visits with family, going to movies, etc. I really do want to work on my diet, make a collection of easy, healthy recipes that I can use over and over, and experiment with cooking. I also still need to work on that The Spark program--the goal-setting and motivation techniques. I kind of skipped those parts (didn't complete the action steps) and those are probably my most vulnerable areas, as far as weight loss and maintenance go. I've really got to work on that!!!!

I'm still working with P:Y strength workouts, but starting to get bored with them. I want to keep it up for a couple more weeks, though, before moving on. Maybe I can squeeze in more yoga, too, since I won't be working! Let me know what you think of the Jill Millers, if you get them.

Have a nice long weekend,
Donna

Hey Donna - sorry to disappear on ya there for a day or two! It's been CRAZY at work, don't really know why, but anyway, that's my story! Every time I'd try post, I'd get a call...

SO how's it going? I'm doing OK, although things got so hectic yetserday I didn't get to track, but I did well I think. We had a power outage at work and all got sent home early - kinda fun in a way, like a snowday the school kids get sometimes. I also did a weights only workout for the first time in I don't remember, and I'm a bit sore today in all the right spots. Re our bathroom: it's JUST getting finished - DH does this kind of work himself. It's been almost 4 years since we bought the house. Then we had a toilet and sink sitting in the basement, all hooked up, but no walls or door built around it! LOL The entire basement was mostly unfinished. Now we have walls ready to paint, nice flooring, and a new vanity - the old one was just awful.

I totally get you on the food tracker. Honestly, I think I'm gonna have to commit myself to tracking til I get down to where I want again, THEN move to tracking faithfully for maintenance so I can tell exactly what that is and how I should eat to maintain, and THEN move to tracking one or two days a week. That way the weight won't creep up as much on me again. I HOPE. That's the plan anyhow. I've gotta do better at maintenance once I'm ready for it again.

Yoga? Well, I've managed to fit in small bits after 30 minute or so workouts. Some on my own, some to DVDs. I'm hoping to incorporate a little after every workout, and then do one or two longer practices each week. We'll see how that pans out. I'm eying the Jill Miller RX DVDs - they sound right up my alley!

Any plans this weekend? I have Monday off and am looking forward to a me-day emoticon

Beth

Good morning. I did the upper body P:Y workout last night. I think I'll take a break today with the strength training and focus on walking and cardio. Oh, and abs, too!!

I am still not tracking my food. Well, yesterday I wasn't. Today--I started again. I hope I can continue with it now for a few more weeks. Well, maybe not every day, but most days. I really need to get this dieting thing settled into my brain so I don't take liberties with it when I can't (or won't) use the food tracker. I hope my theory works. I don't want to have to use a daily food tracker for the rest of my life!

Have you figured out a yoga routine, yet? I can't seem to work any yoga (besides my usual stretch routine, which does include some yoga stretches) into my exercise schedule these days. But, like you, I feel that yoga should be in there somewhere. Finding the time and energy to do it, though? That is the question.

Ha--Love the thread title!

I'm doing OK. My hand looks bruised (and probably will for several more days), but my ankle and back are better. I did my abs/back routine this morning for the first time in a week, I think. I am keeping up with exercise (comparatively speaking, anyway!). And although I haven't been tracking regularly, I must not be doing too badly. I weighed in at 155.8 this morning. So I'm maintaining, at least. That actually made me feel good!!

I'll restart the tracking, though. I've got to keep myself in check with the food. That is SO important for me. The Project:You is coming along pretty well, too. I was pretty sore in my upper body from Saturday's workout!! Today I do it again and I'm looking forward to the day when I increase my weights.

My parents' bathroom isn't done yet. The shower is installed and they're using it. The flooring is also done. They are using their old commode until the new one comes in (on order) as well as the vanity/sinks get-up. When it is done, it will look 100% better than their old one!! So--you are redoing a bath in your house, too, eh?

Well--it's time for me to hit the sidewalks and burn a few calories. It's lunch time!

Hi Donna! How are you feeling? How's the hand, ankle and back? Cats are so good at getting underfoot aren't they? I hope you're healing nicely. Do be careful though! We didn't go to the movies afterall. We visited with my inlaws Saturday and stayed home Sunday - i had to get the groceries, get soup in the crockpot, and of course watch the gold medal hockey game! LOL I did not do well on the weekend with eating, but for a visit with my inlaws, I didn't do horribly either which is a feat in itself! I fell back on the right track though, and got my exercise in last night, have most meals planned for the week, etc so it should be a good week.

I weighed in at 142 - I'll take it without complaint after that week of overeating in FLA. I'm going to try incorporate Yoga into each day too, as it is so good for me. I'm missing a regular practice. Even 10 minutes a day with longer sessions when my schedule allows is all good. I don't know what's gotten into me, but I've got all kinds of DVDs I want to buy right now! Silly, 'cause I have more than one at home I haven't even tried yet! emoticon

Happy belated birthday to your Dad! Hope you gave him a big ol hug! Do you like their bathroom? We're almost done our powder room down stairs - I need to prime and paint it, but we have the new vanity and flooring in place. I've taken 3 calls since I started typing this! Better get some work done! Talk soon,

Beth
