I phoned ATT yesterday to complain about them raising price of my dsl internet service every three months. Rep says that is going rate cause you don't have contract. I replied, I never had a dsl contract. I told her I should receive higher speed for the price they are charging me instead of internet crashing, etc. She looked up my area and said techs worked on it recently and improved. She quoted me $49 a month plus $199 equip and installation fee for u verse internet. I asked what about the $29 or less that is advertised on tv? She said that does not apply to me since I am not new customer. That is when I lost it. I told her the agents that phone me claim that is not true. Since I have dsl, I am considered a NEW u verse customer and qualify for advertised price. Then, I went into a long rage that I won't upgrade to u verse bc I can not trust what they tell me and need to look into signing up with different company. She transferred me to another rep to see if she could come up with better deal.

I went thru the same thing with next rep. She tried to sell me package. I said no. Today was the first time I used my phone in a week and I don't watch tv. She finally offered me high speed u verse for $31 a month with no equip or installation charge. Since I pay $29 a month for lowest speed dsl, I took it. The man will be here to install on Sat.

I am hoping the new speed will help me navigate Spark, etc better and faster so I spend less time on computer and more time tending to things I have neglected.

Did anyone watch the new Spielberg show on Tuesday night at 9 pm on channel 11? I forgot the name but it is about terminally ill kids and their support system, etc. I was cooking and up/down, but liked what I saw and going to watch next week. In one scene a ill teenage girl walks into a elementary boys room. He is in coma and she says do you mind if I smoke and lights up. I missed what happened next.

How much is carton of cigs there Michele? I think a carton is around $40-45 here. CVS decided to get rid of their cigs a month earlier and sold them for $2 a pack. I saw a woman smoking vapor cig in freezer section of supermarket yesterday. First it was dogs in store. Now e cigs.

The Y was closed yesterday due to power outage. Power went out at 10 am and was not expected to come on until 9 pm. So they closed for the day. I was hot, sweaty, looking forward to swim and disappointed they were closed when I got there. I did errands, cleaned, etc and going swimming today. A member that was in the gym when the lights went off, said members that were riding bikes, etc refused to get off and leave. One woman asked trainer to put up the window shade so she could continue reading her magazine while pedaling. lol

My neighbor and I hauled furniture down the block Tuesday night. The furniture was left behind by tenant and friend that moved to Idaho. I decided we should pile all the furniture on the computer table with wheels and push down block were trash would pick up. I wanted to push on sidewalk. Neighbor suggested rolling in the street. I felt her idea was better since no driveways in the street. A quarter way down the block the wheeled table gets stuck in a pot hole and we had to carry everything a few feet where pavement was smooth. Street conditions got worse. By the time we reached our destination, some of the wheels had fallen off the table. So we carried the furniture the rest of the way. We had to go around a tree and lamp post and got stuck. It was some site, but furniture was gone this morning. Yeah! We got rid of the bags with recycles last night and need to clean out her storage cabinet next week. The building owner threatened to charge lady for leaving furniture, recycles and storage. The tenant lived here 29 years and left her place immaculate. She lost her job two years ago, could not find another here and moved in with relatives in Idaho. Both of us felt it was not fair for owner to charge her and doing the work for her. Staying this active does not give me time to crave. So either I have to apply as a mover or volunteer to help people move. lol

I take quitting one day at a time and hope I will be where you are someday Michele.

Long ago after my youngest was born. I went to my doctor; 1. I needed to get rid of the weight from pregnancy and 2. I did not want to start smoking again. I asked for something that would help with both my wants. The doc was trained in the old school ( Family doctor and one who believes you knew your body way more than he did. ) " This is what he told me, " you don't needed anything to get that weight off or never smoke again. It is after all ' Mind over Matter! '

One must want to drop the weight and/or quit smoking. Just about 3 years ago when I ended up in the hospital with chest tubes ( not from smoking but from radiation from Breast Cancer. I decided than that No more would I smoke. I would find another way to relax myself and drop a few pounds. I joined Spark. Got the weight off and worked close with Sandi and got off of Nicotine. Now more than ever knowing that COPD evolved into Lung Cancer for hubby is reason enough to stay Quit. We all have that right of Choice! Sometimes it's one of the hardest choices one can Make, however it is worth it!

I know what you meant....been there, and well understand. We all have someone who keeps an eye on us from Above. He'll let you know when your ready for a Quit. Stay well!

I meant I was "not' going to smoke whether he came over or not. I left out the not.
We didn't get any rain and it's so smokey from the huge King fire that is just up the road. It's right where we go camping and fishing and everything. Are favorite spots are now burned. The fire in the other direction was fast but worse because it burned 150 homes. The King fire was set on purpose by some jerk with a long criminal history. He must have mental problems to do something like that on purpose! If someone ends up dying from the fire, he will be charged with murder too. I'm so glad they caught him!

My son came over this morning and he was smoking. He said he did use the ecig a little bit at work, but is still smoking too. Sigh, I hope we both can quit!!

I hate running ac too. I have to eat, etc in my ac bedroom and feel like I am in prison. It is a cooler tonight. There was wind when I came home, but my apt was still 88 degrees with all the windows open. I have everything open, fans going and may not need ac tonight since bedroom is 75 now. Weatherman said cooling trend will be short. So I am not putting ac away.

My neighbor that moved phoned. She was 2-3 hours from her new home in Boise, Idaho. She called to say she forgot to clean out her storage unit in garage and wants two of us to toss everything in it.

The building owner wants to charge former tenant for leaving three pcs of wooden furniture near the dumpster and trash bags full of recycle by the bins. I don't feel she should be charged since there are not enough containers for the amount of apts in building and they are always overflowing when no one moves out.

I devised a plan to get rid of the furniture tonight. The city is coming to pick up big stuff like refrig, furniture, etc on Friday. So, a neighbor and I rolled the furniture down the block to where a homeowner put sofa at curb and left the furniture there. I put coffee table, etc near the sofa so it looks like living room at the curb. lol I doubt the furniture we put there tonight will be there tomorrow.

I am going to toss her recycle trash bags into the dumpster after the garbage truck comes tomorrow. Then, I will toss out stuff in her storage unit away next week. I am going to take the items she left in my apt to thrift store over weekend.

I talked the lady that helped me into giving me the upright vac she left behind since my vac that is almost 40 years broke. Hopefully, I can vacuum over the weekend too.

Thank you, I htink he is trying but didn't want to make me uncomfortable for smoking, so he didn't say anything. I am hoping he comes over this morning and I will ask him. If he's not smoking, I won't smoke while he is here either! I'm afraid if he quits and I don't, he won't come over in the morning for coffee anymore. It might be too hard if I still smoke.
I was going to smoke this morning whether he came over or not, but of course, I did! Someday....thank you for your prayers and thoughts!

I can't wait for winter either! It was a bit cooler yesterday. Only 90 degrees:) Supposed to be even cooler today. There were a few high clouds and the possibility of a sprinkle or two tomorrow! I hate running the a/c because I have to close the sliding glass door and the bathroom window and it gets smokey in here, plus it's so loud so I have to blast the tv. I can't wait for winter or even fall would be nice!

I think it is great that your son resisted smoking with you. It shows he is trying to quit. Maybe, he did it so he could encourage you to quit. I hope and pray he succeeds. emoticon

58 should heavenly. My apt was 90 again today, but dropped to 88 due to huge fans blowing hot air out the doors/windows. Temecula got rain today. We are suppose to get it on Thursday. I am tired of being confined to ac bedroom at home and looking forward to rain.

I took out my e cig yesterday cause I had terrible craving. It was leaking and broken, but I got to smell the fluid on my fingers.

My son bought an ecig on Saturday but then he said he smoked on Sunday, and yesterday he said he used it at work but smoked once he got home. Well, he came over this morning and of course I was smoking, and didn't realize until after he left that he hadn't smoked at all while he was here. I hope I didn't mess him up by smoking! I noticed when he left there were no butts in the ashtray so I'm sure he didn't smoke at all.

I am glad it is cool where you live and you can rest.

Another 100 degree day here. My apt is 90 degrees. I swam for 90 minutes today. The pool water felt so good I did not want to get out, but my leg cramped and I had to leave.

I looked forward to putting on the ac in my bedroom and watching tv in bed when I got home, but my neighbor that was moving was so far behind, I ended up helping her pack apt and car, toss trash, etc. for three hours with another neighbor.

She planned to take canned food with her. Her friend that is driving them to Idaho, said there was not room in the car for them, let alone the food. She refused to give up thought of not taking the food. I told her hand over the canned goods and no one gets hurt. lol She fit in the car, but had so much stuff under her feet she could not put them down. They left at 8:30 pm and I nuked a Lean Cuisine dinner to eat in my ac bedroom.

I slept last night and hope to do the same tonight.

I have been taking thyroid medication for over 50 years and this is first time I can't lose weight. I checked out the LA specialist I considered seeing. His website does not list any info about seeing patients that live less than 2 hours away from his office. I wrote to his out of state patient in hopes of obtaining more info. From what I can tell he charges $500 for consult. $300 for labs and $150 for computer/telephone follow up visit. That is a lot of $$. The doctor that oversees my healthcare feels these fees are outrageous. She suggesting keeping her, since I need thyroid medication since I do not have gland, to write prescriptions.

There isn't any doctor that accepts ins that is better than mine. I saw another doctor in her office when mine was on maternity leave. She was worse. She said my test levels were fine when they indicated I was hypo (low thyroid).

Morning all, nice chilly morning around here and its in the upper 50s as of an hour ago. Sun is out but not high in the sky as yet.

No plans for today as attempting to rest up from this weekend, as it was a busy, busy one for a change. Infact thinking about going back to bed for a while.
Have a great day and be safe!

Thyroid problems are known for weight gain! Almost everyone gains a lot of weight when their thyroid is out of whack! Your doctor is one of those that has a thing against overweight people and is trying to get you to lose weight in an unhealthy way.. You need another doctor!! She does not have your best interest at heart!

You are correct Snuz. My nutritionist, dietitian and trainer laughed when I told them how many cals my doc recommended. They said doctors know little about diet. I burn 600 calories exercising and would end up in starvation mode. They had me eat three full meals daily for a month. I had to add two snacks the next month, but never made the number of calories they and Spark recommended.

I am 5'5" and weigh 215.5 I was 135 lbs before doctors started changing my thyroid meds. I have been to every endo that takes insurance. They all prescribe the medication that caused me to develop diabetes, gain weight, etc. I think my only choice is to see the doctor that charges $500.

Anyone can die within the first year of heart attack if they do not change their lifestyle and receive proper treatment. My best friend turned 81 yrs old today. She had a heart attack
5 years ago, smokes and still going strong. She has a fib too. She dislikes doctors or taking medication, but takes thyroid, heart, blood pressure and thinner med and follows vegetarian diet.

The only WW recipe I recall making is the no cal soup that can be eaten between meals, but I have that recipe. Besides, I am not going to make soup in 115 degree weather.

I think the reason I can' t lose is due to too high dose of thyroid medication. The specialist's book I am reading states more than 30 mg of med I take causes body to become weight loss resistant. Another medical condition....great. I was losing weight when my former doc prescribed 30 mg of that medication along with another medication, which is what the specialist recommends. My former doc moved out of state and new doc won't prescribed med she did bc it is too time consuming to regulate. I am thinking of going to see the top specialist in this state that patients from out of state see. It will cost me $500 since he does not take ins, but my health is worth it.

I did not do well in the sleep or eating dept today. I know the medication I take is causing insomnia since I slept when I did not take it, but can't survive without it. I had insomnia again last night and took a little codeine cough syrup at 5 am so I could get some sleep. Then, I woke up late, ate a Flatbread egg sandwich with fruit and plain coffee. I had 1 oz of beef jerky after swimming for two hours. Then, steak, baked potato, steamed veggies and one pc of zucchini bread for dinner. Some grapes and blueberries when I got home. I weighed after swimming since I felt going potty a lot would produce good number. I was wrong. I gained a half pound in two weeks. I stopped at store on way home and stocked up on protein. If this high protein, low carb diet does not work after 8 weeks, I give up.

Your right Snuzie. Below 1200 is Starvation Mode. I gain , because you are so hungry....you snack and not the good snacks either. Tee appears to active to be going with that many Calories. Personally, I would check with the local library for the original WW literature and do that diet. Love those recipes.

Tee if you were on the original WW. let me know your Favorite recipes then and see if I have them. I know some where here are recipes for White bean soup and their Breakfast Danish.

Michele, you got this! 2 months will go by like nothing and you'll be stronger for it! You are taking good care of yourself, I can tell by your posts, and you are will informed about what to do and not do, so I have faith that you will be fine in 2 months, 6 month, and years down the road!

Appealstome, What is DHEA? I can't believe your doctor told you a thousand calories a day! That's outrageous! No adult should only eat a thousand calories a day and you said you swim on top of that? I would find me another doctor! I think 1200 is the lowest recommendation for an adult woman no matter how tall you are or how heavy or light you are. I am 5 foot 3 inches and weigh about 160 and they allow me here on SP 1200 to 1500 a day. 1000 calories and your body will go into starvation mode. I read a lot about that on SP and on WW's. You should look into it I think:)

The original Weight Watchers diet began from the Diabetic Diet. The original Calorie count was only 1200. When my second daughter was born I tried Diet Workshop. No good so since I had the original material I went back to WW. I have tried their different WW diets but can only drop the weight on the original plan. I can not drop that weight with any calorie amount over 1200. My diabetic diet from Doc is 1200 cal. 3 meals @ 50 carbs snacks between 25 and 30 carbs. So far since my Heart Attack, its working for me.

Yep, believe I am aware of the Heart Attack Signs an Symptoms, know then by Heart. It is also true that more women die within that first year of their Heart Attack then die from Breast Cancer. I have two months to ago for my Year anniversary from my Heart Attack.

Have a great week!

I am jealous it is cool where you live. 91 degrees here tonight. Suppose to be 110 tomorrow and Monday. Then, thunderstorms and maybe cooler.

My doctor's recommended diet was eating 1,000 cals daily. My trainer and nutritionist said she is nuts since I burn 600 cals swimming. Dietitian told me to eat 30 carbs for meals, 15 carbs for snack and I gained weight. The diets I followed has me pick one thing from each category...protein, carb, fruit, good fat, etc. No white anything. No carbs( bread, beans, or fruit) with dinner. 10 salt free almonds for snack. Diet is around 1,500 cals plus 300 cals on days I swim.. Spark says I need to consume 2500 cals daily for the amount of exercise i do. I ate the diet breakfast, lunch, and dinner yesterday and was full. I took a little DHEA since it helps get rid of belly fat, which is a major problem for me. I asked my doc to do DHEA test and she won't. Yet most of the patients with Addison take some DHEA pre their doc's instructions. I enter food on Spark and let them do the counting. I tried counting carbs and it drove me nuts. So I stopped. I need simple and this diet provides it.

You have the original WW diet books. I am jealous. I have been looking for someone that has them for years. My daughter and I lost a lot of weight on original WW, but failed point program. WW counselor said I was not consuming enough points. Entering food on the digital tracker was so time consuming, I preferred not to eat. My sis and friend did well on point program. I did well on the program for a week when my sister made our meals. I just read a book about why diets fail. The number one reason is when people enter food, they do not eat enough. That is me in nutshell. I usually enter my food at night so I do not succumb to eating less. I like grapes but they are considered a high glucose food, but I eat some anyway. I think we were allowed 10 grapes on the original WW diet. A swim buddy remembers when the liver could only be eaten once a week on original diet. I don't eat liver since it is high in cholesterol and I am trying to decrease mine.

Sorry DH has low lung capacity and gets tired after eating. Good that his doctors suggested how many cigs he could smoke daily.

I know the signs of women's heart attack. Saw it on Oz show. Are you aware women's symptoms are different from men? Sticking 1 adult aspirin or 4 baby aspirin under the tongue ( no water) of someone having heart attack symptoms can save their life. Call 911 after administering aspirin. I keep baby aspirin in my purse. Cardiologist recommended I take baby aspirin at night with warm drink before bed since our blood thickens while we sleep and thick blood is reason people have or die from heart attacks before lunchtime. My hubby died from heart attack while driving around noon. His brother died the same way.

My neighbor, that is moving out of state, lose her apt key last night. I had to break into her apt so she could get in since management is gone. This is second neighbor that lost key and I had to break into their apt. I am getting faster at doing it. lol

emoticon Morning.

We have a beautiful start of the day here, Temp 62, Sun start to rise more in the sky, slight breeze and the trees are looking more like a typical Fall. Last night we were serenaded by an owl until around 2am. Have not had an owl around here for at least a decade. So once again, sleep continues to elude the both of us. DH ate a piece of Coffee Cake and is back to sleep. He informed Room Service ( Me ) that no matter who called he did not want awakened. Wish I could do that!

Tee....Your diet is not your Doctors recommendation, Right? Do you count Calories or Carbs.
I can not drop the weight with counting calories, I gain. So my counting goes to Carbs for me to get a loss along with exercise. Before I hit the Golden Age, Weight Watchers was the only way I could drop the weight. The original WW diet not the ones now. Fortunately I kept the original WW books and frequently pull them out to use. Now, emotional eating puts the #s on me. My fruit snack here at home is Frozen black or red seedless grapes. Love that crunch.

Since DG's Pulmonary Function Test should him with a 47% Lung capacity, eating wears him out. I look for him to be on oxygen by the end of the year. Not sure about him quitting all together. Both his Pulmonologist and his Oncologist have not recommended him to stop altogether at this time. Cardiologist recommends not more than 5 cigs a day even if he continues to smoke. He has tired the e-cig and is not comfortable with it. He says it's to heavy.

Question......How many know the Heart Attack signs of Women?

emoticon Women Account for more than half the Heart Disease deaths each Year -- six times the amount who die from breast cancer each year. emoticon

Enjoy this transition ot Fall...Be Safe!

You are right about 4-6 meals with lots of protein Michele. That is what the diet books recommend, but I am only able to eat three meals. I was suppose to eat an egg white veggie omelet with yogurt or cottage cheese and pc of fruit for breakfast this morning. I ate the omelet and fruit and did not have room for the yogurt or cottage cheese but forced myself to eat a little. I am suppose to eat an additional 150 calories for every 45 minutes of vigorous exercise. That means I have to eat 300 extra cals the day I work out at the gym. I can't eat that much no matter how much I try. I eat a large breakfast. Medium lunch and light dinner. I need to do something about the insomnia so I can wake early and get in all those meals.

I am happy dh cut back on smoking. Do you think he will stop?

My swim buddy with emphysema ended up in hospital with pneumonia and diagnosed with COPD. She quit cold turkey, but needed oxygen and moved to better climate.

I met a man that swam with oxygen. He took big tank, long hose and swam in the lane closest to the wall. He told me he had COPD. I have not seen him at the gym in long time, but that could be due to him swimming in the afternoon and me in the morning.

Anyone have plans for the weekend? I am going to try to clean and do laundry today if it isn't too hot. I am treating my best friend to birthday dinner on Sunday after I work out at the gym.

Thanks for the information Snuz. My father in law and friend died from emphysema. It was horrible.

My best friend is smoker that developed pneumonia and hospitalized. Her pneumonia did not respond to antibiotics. Doctor called us to her side saying she would not live 24 hours. A doctor was giving her breathing treatments when I arrived at her bedside. He told me he cleaned out her lungs (scrubbed them with a brush) early that morning. She lived, was discharged to rehab facility that disallowed smoking. She said she was dying for cig every time I visited her. She was three months smoke free when she discovered residents and employees were allowed to smoke out back. She paid employee to wheel her there and started smoking again. She has a fib and congestive heart failure. Cardiologist told her to quit. She said quitting is too hard and takes a lot of medication.

I agree with you snuz about changing eating time. Another diet I followed recommended that for late risers. I only seem to be able to follow a diet for short time. Maybe, I am burned out from trying so many diets that did not work, or lack motivation, etc. I joined a Spark 8 week weight loss challenge hoping it will inspires me to continue dieting after reading a 70 year old member lost 100 lbs in a little over a year.

Tee, also with emphysema you don't ever produce any mucus. You're cough is a dry cough and your lung capacity is too useless to produce anything to expel. That is what makes it so bad too. You can't cough up any of that junk in your lungs and spit it out. If you're having a lot of mucus you probably have a cold or allergies or something else.

I have been trying that ecig for a few days now and it's not has bad has it was at first. I am able to use it more often, just not to replace a whole cigarette or anything. I think if I keep at it though, I will be able to use to replace a cigarette here and there.

Tee your best diet would be to eat 4 to 6 small meals starting when you do get up. Make sure each has a good amount of protein, that will keep you full longer. Low carbs or good as well.

Snuzie is right, Emphysema is not reversible and any respiratory death is not pretty. Total removal of a lung is the only surgery available at this time. Some can live well with one Lung. Hubbies Left lung was inoperable, due to the main mass wrapping around the main blood vessel in that lung. Emphysema leads to COPD, which can develop into Lung Cancer. Which at the end, suffocation. Watching someone die from Respiratory Diseases can definitely change ones mind about continuing to smoke. Hubby realizes now his mistake in not quitting years ago. Fortunately he has cut back very nicely.

Have a peaceful weekend!

I have sever emphysema and when I cough it's a very dry cough. I never have any mucus unless I have a bad cold or flu. Emphysema cannot be reversed. Once you quit smoking, it won't cause anymore damage but the damage that is done, is there for life. You can improve your lung function with exercise and by quitting smoking, or if you're rich, the can cut out the part of your lung that is "dead", I read the bottom portion of your lung can be removed, and your lung capacity will be diminished forever, but that's the only way to get rid of emphysema, and I think it's still experimental, the part about removing the lower portion of your lung.

If you don't quit, your lungs will slowly start 'dying' from the bottom up, until they become useless, and you can't breathe at all, then you die. It's a horrible death too! Slowly suffocating. The nurse yelled at me and told me how awful it is to die from emphysema, I think trying to scare me into quitting. I wish something would make me quit!

I think the book says eat between 6-8, but just change that to between 10-11, and adjust your time, to match the book, just add 4 hours to it, I think that would be the same thing?

I read producing a lot of mucus is symptom of emphysema. That scared me bc the upper respiratory infections I had produced a lot of mucus.

Can emphysema be reversed by quitting?

I have a headache and stuffy nose from this weather. I managed to unclog nose with neti pot and nasal spray before heading to gym. But as soon as I started swimming laps in the cold pool, my nose clogged up again, which made swimming difficult.

I stopped at the library last night to pick up diet book and walked out with two. lol The book I like the best states I have to eat on schedule. Breakfast between 6-8 am. I have insomnia and don't even get up until 10 am. So the diet may not work.

I hope your plan works Snuz. When you use e cig you only take a puff or two and put it down. Better than smoking an entire cig and should ease your addiction. Besides not coughing, your breathe, clothing, etc won't smell like an ashtray.

Do you have the filter or vapor type? I started with the filter, which was awful. It was sucking on a straw with knot. Then, a friend introduced me to the vapor type, which was a big difference. I had to learn to suck less so I did not cough due to the amount of vapor it produced.

A man in my Nic Ann group smoked 4 packs daily. He even smoked in the shower. One day he decided to quit and never picked up another cig. If he can do it, you can.

Please give it a try. We are here to support you every step of the way. emoticon

Emphysema, is classed under COPD, ( Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disease ) COPD does not remiss, it progresses to the point of the need for oxygen use. Each drag of a Cig irritates our lungs and as we know causes Cancer. COPD is not a graceful.

Snuzie.... take that big step an live life much healthier and happier. emoticon Lean on the Team! We're here for you!

Heck yeah! i've been doing the rain dance all year long, but it doesn't seem to be working! 100 degrees for the next 3 days at least, ugh! I hate the summer and we never even had a winter last year! I sure hope we do this year!!!

I've been trying to use the ecig again, but it tastes awful and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.I have to do it! I cough all the time now and when I ran out of my breathing medicine, I was scared and couldn't breathe. Scared to the point of buying another ecig, then I got my medicine, and now I can smoke again-it's a catch 22 situation, when I run out of medicine is the only time I can really quit because my emphysema is so bad, but then the medicine helps so much that I am able to again. I hope to use the ecig more today and try and get used to it before my meds run out again! I know if I started walking again, that would help so much!

Thank you for the goodie!!!!!!

Since the area between Canada and Montana, Wyoming and I believe North Dakota had 6 or more inches today, that statement just might be right. This snow was the earliest for Canada. Tomorrow that Canadian air is to make it Southward for the weekend. Tomorrow here it's to be in the 70s with rain through the night tonight an till noon tomorrow.......

Snuzie...are you doing the Rain Dance yet?

Another hot day and cooler night. Temperature suppose to be in the 100s by Friday. I heard we were suppose to have the worse winter this year, but several people said that changed. Our winter is in January and usually rainy. We need rain since we have terrible drought, but I do not want repeat of the rain we had last year where every road was flooded and my car was boat.

I did not sleep last night. My insomnia is definitely due to a medication I take. I had to take codeine cough syrup to get 3 hours sleep. I dragged myself to work today. So exercise and knitting group tonight was out.

Being home is definitely the hardest time for me, which is why I spent my free time at the gym. I try to keep busy by cooking, cleaning, and knitting scarves for abused women, but it has been too hot to do any of these this summer. I dread daylight savings time since I have vision problems and need to be home before dark, which means spending more time indoors.

Thanks for the goodie Michele.

It's well past noon and just crossed into the 80 mark. Heavy rain and storms due in for the evening commute and through until noon tomorrow. Glad I got my running done early. Heard on the news that southern Canada picked up 6 inches of snow with possibilities of snow in our Northern states. According to Farmers Almanac emoticon this Winter is to be worse than last Winter. On my errand runs this morning I noticed: more emoticon on the trees and covering lawns, many small branches and papers in the roads. I know we are to get heavy winds later but, these must be from over night.

There may be times when we are fighting cravings to keep that Quit. However, for me drop in temps, and rain keeping me inside are harder for me. The harder time is Winter, either way there is only so much one can do inside to keep a person buzzy.

What are your hardest times?

I am down a pound! I have not been eating healthy, but I have been eating a lot less! and it shows...a little teeny bit:) I could feel it, so that's why I weighed myself this morning.

It is cold this morning! I am wearing my robe and my slippers-first time in months and months! It's going to be hot today so I am pleasantly surprised how cold it is this morning:) It's going to be almost 100 degrees today! I just saw the weather while I was typing this.

I saw something the other day about it being grandparents day, but I didn't know it last all week:)

I did not believe California Chrome would win. My parents use to bed on horses once in a while and never bet on the favorite. My son bets on horses and sports. He was always lucky and usually wins.

The humidity decreased here. Last night was first night I did not use ac. It was in the 89s this morning and 70s now. There was a breeze when I came home tonight. The first breeze in long time.

I stopped eating after dinner and slept well last night. I started dieting over weekend. Gotta get some jiggly jelly off before I turn 65 next month. Would be nice if I could fit in the designer clothing my sister sent me that is taking up space in my closet.

I ate a good breakfast this morning, but left my lunch home. I had tuna salad in my car trunk and tried eating it but it was bad and tossed. So I made sure I had a good dinner.

I was clueless it was grandparents week. Frankly, I can't keep up with special days. I saw Boss Day cards in the store today. I never gave a card to a boss.

I hope both of you get a good nights sleep.

The last 2 nights it has been in the 50s, great sleeping to the point of hating to get up. But that will be a thing of the past as tomorrow starts " errands to run Day."
.....Tomorrow is not only Hump Day it is also the middle of Grandparents Week! How many knew that one?

When California Chrome was racing in the Triple Crown, everyone was so excited and rooting for him to win. I've never placed a bet on a horse, but I really wanted to bet on the runner up to win, and sure enough, that horse won, but of course, I didn't bet:)
My kids all play the Fantasy Football thing, but I'm not sure what it is. I know they place bets online, and pick the players they think will win. They really enjoy it and get excited about it!

I was so tired last night. I worked until seven, and then stayed up until ten, and only woke up once to use the bathroom! Slept until seven this morning! I sure hope you can get a good night's sleep too!

Have you ever tried internet sports pools? My son uses them. Why is it we always pick a winner when we can't bet.

I put ac in my bedroom last night because I could not take the heat, humidity and insomnia. It rained this morning, cooler tonight, and ac coming down tonight.

I am working on sleeping so I have more energy and not tempted to smoke. CVS lost a lot of business when they stopped selling cigs last month and Walgreen's business increased.

If I had been in a Football Pool yesterday, I'd easily have a new pair of shoes. No Pool, so no shoes. That's Life!

How are those quits progressing?

Temps through the night a cool 59. Just now at noon it's in the upper 70s, No rain around here till late Wednesday into Thursday morning. Have a great Monday and a Safe Week!

Thanks, Michele, someone in the family loves the 49er's and the razzed every year about it-lol! My oldest loves the Raiders and my youngest loves the Chicago Bears, my daughter likes whatever team her DH likes, but I'm not sure who that is:)
I think I'll watch this week and so who catches my eye:)
My sister is really into basketball, especially the Sacramento Kings, but that's 'cause we live in Sacramento I think and they go to all their games.
I like baseball and used to play in a women's softball league when I was young, but don't really watch it on tv.
I never thought I would be talking sports! haha

Nice to read about women who like football. My son played football and tried to teach me the game, but I just wasn't interested. I am a fan of basketball, soccer, and ice hockey. Don't care much for tennis although I played it for a few years. Only golf I played was minature.

Hot and humid here. I gave in and put the ac in my bedroom.

If your close to San Fran.. go with the 49's, they won today. Zinzinnati also won. Who Dey gonna beat those Bengals..... no one today. emoticon Got hooked on all sports when Dad would hog the TV on Sundays, so thought I would learn more of sports as I would be starting High School the following year. That was a hit with the boys..." a girl interested in Sports ". It also worked with taking care of male patients and spending time with DH. I also play a mean game of Poker. .......... Dad was not into Tennis, hockey or Golf. How ever when I emoticon married DH, I now hold my own on the Golf Course. Which DH can not stand being beaten by my Oldest and especially me.

Right now it's Sunday Night Football on NBC.....

lol Michele! I have been reading the NFL guide to football for beginners just so I can know what is going on when the kids talk about it all the time. I swear it's like they are talking a foreign language every year, and they get so excited that I thought there must be something to football and I want to get excited about something too! I may even watch a game or two just to see how it goes but I have no idea who to root for:)

oh yeah, I got 20 points for the team today-woohoo!

Congratulations on the ribbon Michele. I have an alarm clock that is set to go off every morning and won't. Once in a while, it goes off in the middle of the night.

I did not take my meds yesterday so I could sleep last night and napped yesterday afternoon. I slept last night but had to get up to go potty several times. I woke this morning to a stuffy nose, which drained after using neti pot. This is first time in months I can breathe thru my nose.

Hope both of you are having a nice day.

What fun Michele! congrats to your GD and her ribbons!
I have ATT also, so that is probably it. I went to breakfast with my kids yesterday morning and had a great time. I did overeat though. Oh well, we don't go that much anymore so it was worth it:)

Have not been on this PC until an hour age and so far things are OK, Did notice cable trucks around here before we headed out this morning, that would have been around 8:30 this morning.

We had light rain from 11 this morning until 3 this afternoon. skies were 2 shades of grey all day!
Sammie and 7 events and ribboned 7 times. So a good day had by all.

Hope all that fresh country air of today we let me sleep tonight. Peace!

I am having computer problems too today. I think it is ATT, not my computer. Or maybe there is internet traffic jam.

I decided not to take my medication today to see if it allows me sleep thru the night. A risky move, but worth it if I can get back to normal schedule.

Good for him. Ensure made my dad sick. So, I drank half can to see what he was complaining about and got gas, cramps, diarrhea, etc. That ended both of us drinking ensure. My friend was instructed to drink Gatorade after breast cancer treatment. She drank it by the gallon and said it helped.

I am having hard time dealing with sleeping and fatigue. I did not sleep all night. I took valium, which use to work and it did nothing. So, I took a squig of codeine cough med around 4 am. Fell asleep around 5 am and slept till 2 pm. Sleep problems are driving me nuts.

My neighbor just invited me to farewell dinner for neighbor at 6 pm tonight. So I better shower and dress.

I do not have anything planned this weekend and will probably food shop, clean, etc.

The junior, but like Appealstome said, Boost or Ensure, or a protein shake would be better. I know I couldn't stand the taste of those, I tried a few when I was in treatment, but they always tasted chalky or left a bad aftertaste. They are probably better though if you can find something you like.

I hope the baby food, soup, pudding, jello, etc works. How about making him a protein shake? You can add quick cook oatmeal, protein powder, fruit, ice and even ice cream in it. We made these shakes for my mom when she had cancer.

I've watched him eat the last 2 days and noted that his resps. are good before and heavy and short during an after he eats. Yet tonight he had a Cobb Salad and finished and his breathing was not labored. With only 47% lung function and depending on what he's eating, he's not getting adequate oxygen and thus he's tired. So picked up pudding and jello today more ice cream and a few soups, so will see how that goes. Since I forgot his Fiber Gummy Bears, I'll be making another trip tomorrow to the store. With the baby food, are you talking about the Baby, graduate or Junior?

Wow! He has really lost weight! I would definitely try the baby food. It's actually pretty good with a little salt on the veggies, even the meats aren't too bad,and I love the cereal and fruit. I still eat the cereal from time to time:)
I'm sure you could add seasoning to the meats and veggies to make it better:)
