Sorry all the stress your family is going thru over DH condition. I am happy he ate steak he craved and trying chemo. Cancer made my bil tired too. Can DH take vitamin for anemia?

Sorry about the rain, thunder and falling leaves. These are things I do not miss.

Bummer Snuz. I hope you get results today and don't have to wait until next week.

I felt better yesterday afternoon and worse by night time. My sister has same thing and she lives on opposite coast.

Please pray for my friend's hubby, Bob, today. He is undergoing surgery to reconnect his colon. He has several medical conditions and his wife worried he won't survive surgery. Thanks!

Noticed that the results of DH's PET scan had to wait till he saw the oncologist yesterday. also found that he had lost another lb. DH was not sure he wanted chemo yesterday, he told the doc that he was tired and only wanted a steak. So the doc told him to go home, think it over and if he wanted to try the chemo to call an make an appointment. So his son and I took him to lunch for his steak. On the way back home he decided to have the chemo, so he has an appointment for next Wednesday. I will say he has eaten more in the last 24 hours. The doc did tell him that the cancer was eating his energy. So now he is eating and he still is showing anemia.

I am praying for you Snuz. Let us know the outcome.

I am sick, took Muscinex doc recommended and felt like I was coughing up a lung on drive to work today. It is last time I take expectorant especially since my chest xray and scan were fine.

I have to get serious about quitting smoking! I cough all the time now, not just when I wake up, but of course it is a lot worse when I first get up. Today, I coughed up blood. Not a lot, but enough to scare me! I usually don't cough anything up, so I was surprised and I spit it out, and that was when I saw the blood. I don't know if it's just from coughing hard or not. I did finally have the CT Scan of my chest today, and my doctor's appointment is tomorrow, so at least I won't have to wait forever for the results:)

i am glad you enjoy family and nature. I hope you slept well and had peaceful Sunday.

I did not sleep the last three night due to taking my meds late. I could not take another sleepless minute at 4 am this morning, took a little RX cough syrup, fell asleep and found it difficult to get up this morning. Swimming laps in cold pool energized me. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Weather cooled off. So, I am going to vacuum, etc.

I do so like that commute time with Nature and Princess and Clover. As well as time with my Family at anytime and for any reason. Hubby did fine while I was gone and cutting up a bit with my oldest before she left to return home. After she left he joined me on the porch till that sun went behind the ridge. First time that has happened for several years.

Plan to attack my pillow late tonight and hold that pose well into tomorrow morning.

Have a peaceful and Blessed Sunday.

I am glad you hubby likes the oncologist. Hope and pray his chemo goes well.

Great that you can get away for the day. I hope you and your daughter enjoy.

I sent my friend a link that shows brain inflammation can be due to diabetes, which she has and told her to get another opinion.

I slept 12 hours, which means my cortisol is too low. A bad sign for Addison patient. I need to get on ball and take my meds on schedule.

Tell her to get a second opinion or even 3! There are to many conditions that are similar to the symptoms and signs of MS.

Today was a good day for DH. He liked the Oncologist and talked freely with him. We are waiting though for a PET scan to be scheduled. DH starts chemo on the 20th of this month.

Heading North for the day with my oldest daughter for Princess's Hunter Class Event. Husband is fine with my going, so I'll be off around 8 in the morning. His oldest Son will be keeping an eye on him for the day.

Have a Blessed Weekend and Be Safe!

Hi all.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. How did end of week turn out Michele?

I need advice. An old friend wrote to let me know she was diagnosed with MS because one test showed inflammation. I underwent MS testing a few years ago by a group that specializes in diagnosing MS and know my friend does not have it. I am tempted to tell her that her inflammation is due to diabetes and get second opinion, but hesitant since someone scolded me last week for providing medical advice.

What do you think I should do? I hate to see my friend pay thousand of dollars for injection she does not need and may end up harming her.

Addison disease causes my body to eliminate sodium and water and dehydration. I take medication to keep water and sodium in body. I have been experiencing dehydration since my doctor decreased this medication to three times a week. Our body needs sodium to stay hydrated, regulate blood pressure, etc. I have low blood pressure which is another symptom of Addison and do not take blood pressure medication or diuretics. Addison patients need to drink lots of water. I drink 100 ozs daily and my doctors want me to drink more.

The weather is cooler and I feel better.

That's good news and yes, you need to keep that hydration in place. Many heart and blood pressure medications will have a diuretic capability in their make-up. One more reason to get those 8 glasses of water in. However, some Cardiologist, depending on your make-up do not feel 8 glasses are needed. I know I can not go over 8 or I'll be back in his office. With my Cardio, He believes you never take in more than you put out.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day! Michele

I received good news from cardiologist. My heart is fine. He feels symptoms were due to dehydration, which is from Addison. He recommended I continue my healthy lifestyle of diet, exercise, etc.

You cut yours short and I have decided to let mine grow to just around shoulder length. It has not been that long since 2002. So hubby got a Kojak today, he feels that he will just beat chemo. Infact, that was why I cut my hair back in 2002. As far as sweating, I have not been able to do that of the left side since then. So watch, I'll let my hair grow longer and finally I'll start sweating.

I got my hair cut short because I sweat constantly in this heat and temperature cooled down. At least I won't be wearing my hair in pony for dance and weight lifting class and fixing my swim cap that falls off while I swam.

I am glad there was some good news Michele. Praying the end of week goes well.

I wasn't on the show but, I was told after an angio with stint placement that I had had one. Never had any symptoms. Had an EKG during a yearly physical, next stop was a Cardiologist. That was around the same time my Breast Cancer was found.

My maternal grandfather always said " live today as it is the last, as we are not promised a tomorrow". He did just that an I have been carrying it forward.

I hope you take time to care for yourself Michele. My dad had four heart attacks while caring for my mom with pancreatic cancer.

I hope exercising for life, good diet, etc.show little damage. I was on Fen/Phen for a year which may have caused damage too. Cardiologist said I would know if I had heart attack, but I have seen women on doctor talk shows that were unaware they had attack until tests showed it.

Hang on to the good, and work on the bad. Doc. is right however, a quit I was told depends on you and how you follow the Docs. orders and recommendations he wants you to follow.

Last November, after more than a year I did have a Hoot of a Heart Attack, I shouldn't be here.
I feel and both my PC and Cardiologist agree mine was brought on by stress and the 24/7 needs of caregiving with my husband for the past 2 years or more. The caregiving hasn't changed but, will as his Cancer treatments start and progress, that is if he goes through with any of it. Either way I'm in for it, for sure. So far my Quit is just that a Quit. Any change you can make for prevention helps in fact more than the doctors know. Believe it's referred to a " Mind Set". Stay Strong.

I have good and bad news. My white and red count and lympo decreased after a week of quitting. However, I developed strange heart and doctor sent me for cardiology work up today. GP tests showed skipped beats, possible old heart attack and dehydration.

Cardiologist's ekg showed extra beats which he said is nothing. He told me how smoking affects heart and that may not be reversible. He ordered a heart scan which I underwent today. I find out results next week.

Sorry Michele. Waiting for results and treatment options is hard. Hand it over to God and try to rest over the weekend.

Thanks Tee. Unfortunately the prelim results are back, waiting now on the pathology results to determine what type of Cancer and how it should be treated. All that is scheduled for next week along with the PFT for lung capacity. His Oncology appointment is a week from today. So the next 8 days are those I'm not looking forward too. As for hubby since yesterday his dementia is worse however, this could also be a way he is coping, Denial.

Have a Blessed day! Michele

We all look for a date to put that pack down and out of sight. Sometime having a specific Quit Date once set, never comes around. i.e. if that reason to Quit is Medical continuing smoking to that date does not justify putting off Quitting. If anything it adds to the problem.
..... If smoking is your relaxer, find a replacement....take a walk ... read a book ... do an exercise tell that craving leaves ... call a friend .... write a letter ... get a hobby.

Check out QuitNet.com. Total up the cost of smoking from the day you start to the present and get ready for the SHOCK. That figure that you see, should be one heck of a Motivator! ..... If your on medication that you are taking as a result of smoking, Put the figure you get from QuitNet and compare it with the total you get for the medicine(s) from start to present.
In many cases the medicine is close to what is spent on a cartoon a month. In my cases my medicines for heart and breathing far surpassed the purchase of a carton for a month. So,
now I only have the monthly cost for my medicines. ...... My husband on the other hand now has the cost of a biopsy of a lung mass and surgery to remove that mass and several specialist to add to the cost of his smoking from the age of 14 ( close to 64 ) years. On top of that some Health Insurances, are bucking at paying for treatments of smokers. .....If an when you decide to Quit, try not to put if off. .............Tomorrow is never promised. emoticon

Doing a bit better since yesterday. He is teary eyed at times after talking to my girls and his bunch. Asking more questions, up an moving more, eating better and in a much better mood.
Ggt a call this morning from his PCP. The doctors that were to do the Needle Biopsy well not recommend doing it bc of its location. They recommended he see a Pulmonologist for a Bronchoscopy for the biopsy. So he sees one next Wednesday for a consult for his decision.
So here we go " WAITING '. His PCP stated that he does not want this drug into August. .....
We are still discussing Quitting. Did pick up a cartoon while I was out and have noticed that he has not smoked since I'll been back home. I told him last evening after another coughing spell, that each puff he takes he is irritating the lungs (especially the Left). So maybe I got through as he did not smoke through the night when he was awake. Since Monday he has not missed using his inhaler, fingers crossed.

Michele, how is you DH? I hope he is doing better after finding out about the mass on his lung. I still haven't heard from the radiologist for the CT Scan of my chest. I think they forgot about me. I will try calling them again today.

This may be what it takes for him to quit. I know when they told me I had lung cancer, I swore I would never smoke again, but for me, that didn't last long. Then when they said I was cancer free, I swore I would never smoke again, but that again didn't last long. But I've heard a lot of people say when they got diagnosed, they never did smoke again, so it's hard to say what will happen. I'm sure he doesn't want to now,, but sometimes the addiction is stronger.

Thanks, last night he was teary eyed frequently. He let his children know, then we notified his 2 very close grand-daughters. I'd notified my girls as well, so between my girls and the grand-daughters an his youngest girl and their responses ....That's were the tears showed up and this morning he's talking more about quitting. Naturally, that's one subject I do not want to discharge with him. Even if he would cut down, I think he would gradually see the difference him self.

I'll come to far with my quit to turn back. Thats my plan. My motivation got me through 2 orthopedic surgeries of DH and two years of caregiving to him. The strongest motivator was my own Heart Attack last November, which had some correlation with the added stress of that caregiving on a 24/7 bases for the last two years. Nope ! don't intend to pick up that habit again.
It still becomes harder as, DH is himself a heavy smoke!.
