Most people automatically gain between 5 and 10 pounds when they quit whether they are eating well or not. So really, don't get so down on yourself. If you haven't gain then you are doing great. I gained wieght when I first quit even with my exercise and eating right. It is all good! Your body will get used to being without those nasty cigarettes and you will start to see a difference.
I met a woman at the gym that quit a year ago and is trying to lose the 20 lbs she gained. Her weight gain was due to not being able to exercise after surgery.
Have your thyroid checked. Smoking interfers with the amount of medication the body requires and your medication may need adjusting since you quit. Mary wrote an article about this on in her About thyroid newsletter. Good luck.

Hi Ter~I feel your pain, honestly I do! Judith gave you some good advice! Sometimes our mind and body play tricks and sometimes they get used to the same old routine. change it up a bit. Also, please go to the thread...Keep the quit and lose the weight. I have been posting some good articles on this subject. I understand your frustration, but please DO NOT smoke. Guard your quit and I promise the weight will come off again. Now the thyroid, see your doctor and tell him what is going on. It may just mean some blood work and an adjustment in your medication. You have done such a great job with your quit, 30 DAYS is so awesome, don't go back now. Sandi
Change up your exercise routine. Look into the Hilton Head diet - it helps with your metabolism. Alternate weeks with a lower calorie range; 30 minutes after eating two of your meals keep moving for 20 minutes. Try that and see if that doesn't help.

Good Morning all Hope everyone had a great weekend...I am so bummed out ...although I am on day 30 without smoking I have yet to lose a pd ...this is getting frustrated ..I know people say oh it takes time it has been a month if not more and no results I work out I eat right stay within my cal and all that but nothing I am so annoyed right now . I can keep making excuses saying it is because I am not smoking it is because of my thyroid problem truth is nothing is happening .. I am at loss I just want to go out and smoke and eat whatever I want.
So frustated right now I try and try and try and see no results I even measured myself and the measurements are the same.
