We have okra in our garden when spring/summer is here. Hubby's sister pickles it & gives us jars, we freeze some & make baked okra & use it for stews & soups too.

Hmmm...okra is a little hard to describe...it is kind of green tasting with little seeds inside (you eat them too. If stewed with tomatoes or in gumbo, it is kind of slimy, but still good. Fried or baked it isn't as slimy, but is just really good. Now I know this doesn't sound very appetizing, but it really is. You should get a little to fix to try before you buy a lot. Let me know what you think.

I know this was posted a while ago, but we just returned from North Carolina and saw a lot of Okra at the farmers market and never having eaten it we wondered what it tasted like? Our friends couldn't think of what to compare it too, so I wondered if anyone else could think of how to describe it.

If ya like Fried Okra, you need to try my Baked Okra recipe in the spark recipes. You can find it on lower left hand side of the team page under blogs & recipes by team members.

Each serving only has 93.9 calories & 0.8 grams of fat because you only use Pam cooking spray for it. My best friend tried it & she makes it all the time. She rated it 3 of 5 but meant to rate higher & goofed. Try it & rate it ya'll.
