I have not gotten anyone sharing the Weekly Challenges with me lately... still keeping it up there. I know this time of year is when we are putting on pounds at the behest of all our families, and some of us like me tend to put on weight just because it's cold, but there's no reason we can't work at working on it. The more people join me, the more I work on it myself.

The whole Challenge thing has been a forgotten art for a couple years now. Time was when one person joined, got all excited, blew us out of the water working hard -- and lost 40 pounds in 3 months for their hard work. Before that, we would have 6 or 7 people working on learning good habits. Now it's hard to get someone to stick with the Challenges, which had been Quarter-long... and I thought maybe having week-long Challenges would get more people involved.

Please come help me help you. Score lots of points -- and SparkPoints and SparkGoodies -- by joining the Weekly Challenges. There is no "joining" to do, you're already in the Team; just go back to the top of this forum and scroll down to Challenge and Motivational Forum, and select Weekly Challenge.

Hugs,
Moss

Yes. I don't want to develop a spreadsheet for a week at a time... Just write down what you did. Post every day if you can, and the posts count toward support.

I wanted to join the harvest challenge, but I don't understand how this thread works. I see your point system, do I just do a daily calculation and enter it into the thread?

OK, I'm starting Weekly Challenges, beginning next Monday. Go to the Challenge & Motivation Forums and post to the Weekly Challenge group.

Participants will give themselves points for:
Weight loss - 10 points per pound lost (from your previous low weight in the past 3 months).
Strength work - 1 point for every 10 reps with any weights, any strength exercise, up to 12 points per day
Cardio work - 1 point for every 10 minutes of cardio exercise (bike, walking, treadmill, etc.) up to 12 points per day
Support - 1 point for each SparkMail or Forum post supporting another member's work or attitude, maximum 5 per day
Water - 1 point if you drank at least 8 glasses of water today

Any day where your total points add up to 15 or more, add to your total your Login Bonus Spin points.

SparkGoodies will be given to weekly winner(s).

Any further information will be found in the Challenge and Motivation Forum.

Hugs,
Moss

I have been giving thought to doing daily or weekly Challenges... using the same point system, just sprints instead of distance runs (short challenges instead of long ones). Any thoughts on this?

I don't have anyone asking for a Challenge right now except you, and my experience is that Winter is a bad time, as we tend to stuff ourselves for a variety of reasons. I think I'll hold off until Spring or at least February. The last 4 Challenges have completed with no Challengers save myself.

Our Healthier By Harvest Challenge is wrapping up. Once more I feel I am walking across the finish line alone in an empty statium, but being the glutton for punishment that I am, and being that I have already been asked for yet another Challenge, HERE WE GO!

If you're interested in Slimmer By Samhain 2012, email me at zaivalananda@gmail.com for the spreadsheet which will help you keep track of your points and join us in the Challenge and Motivational Forum.

The way the Challenge works:

You get 10 points for each pound lost (from the lowest you've been during the Challenge). 1 point for each set of 10 strength exercises ; 1 point for each 10 minutes of cardio exercise, and 1 point each time you write a note in Pagan Place supporting another member's progress. If your points for a given day add up to 15 or more, you also can count your SparkPeople login spin for that day.

The spreadsheet can be used in any Excel-compatible program, such as Excel, OpenOffice.org, Libre Office, or Softmaker Office (my favorite).

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hugs,
Moss
