I have been doing a lot of praying. Offerings of coffee, mostly. Hermes is actually my twin's patron, but seeing as he's also the fellow who's taken dominion of technical support (making programs and devices communicate), it certainly couldn't hurt.

Probably not a curse, but if you want some divine help in the search, have you tried praying and making offerings to Hermes? (Traditional gifts for him are coins, but they say he also likes Skittles, and I've noticed that he also seems to respond favorably to the burning of cinnamon incense.)
I agree with Summerwitch, I don't think its a deity issue or anything like that. Times are tough & jobs are scarce. I don't know where you live but some areas are worse than others. Try to not get depressed and accept that this is just a rocky spot on your path of life.
On another note, my oldest son is an IT professional too. He had the same problems for awhile. Then a friend of his suggested that he apply to the city, the school district and other non-private sector places. Often they don't even advertise unless they are very needy. He found a job with the school district maintaining school computers for students throughout the area. That was a about 18 months ago & his money increased quite a bit during that time too. Bright Blessings glenda

QUOTED: Now, I'm back to unemployment. I'm heartbroken and feel as though I must have pissed off a deity or there's some kind of curse on me. Whatever it is, I need to atone for it, break the curse, or otherwise repair what's broken. So, how do I determine what's causing this?
BTDT and still unemployed. However, I interviewed for a job that I have willed to be mine.
I Believe that the Lord and Lady want us to succeed. I Believe that I am worthy of success. In perfect love and perfect trust I know these things are true.
First things first...believe. Second..get clear on what you want. INTENT. It's important. Visualize the job, the place, the people and the pay/benefits. Next...don't forget will. If it hurt none, do ye will.
Feel free to send private mail. Summerwitch
I am in my happy place. My happy place is in my magical circle. ANYONE trying to enter my happy place uninvited will be turned into a toad.
Normally, I lurk on boards like this, content to practice in peace, and make phone calls to elected officials when said peace is threatened. However, this is personal.
I work in tech support, and in the last four years, I have had trouble with employment. Finding *any* gig is not that hard, but finding a *good* gig has been next to impossible. I've busted my butt to get three IT certifications (working on a 4th). I show up, I work hard...but end up making LESS money than I made in 2007. The longest I've held a job since 2007 was 18 months (at $5 LESS an hour than I was making before). Otherwise, it's been a succession of 6-month contracts. I had one offer that was contract to permanent, paid generously, pleasant co-workers, and great hours. I took it - only to be run out the door after a month with no explanation other than "budget cuts."
