I just started with sparks, it is my second time trying to get healthy. This time I am using the computer to keep me in check :) But I may try this idea as I get more into a healthier lifestyle I think I will try to get more in tune with nature as well.

This is an intrigueing idea... I would have to do alot more research before I put it into action for myself though...It makes sense but my OCD (as my hubby says) or my extremem attention to detail (as I like to call it) lol won't let me make another change without research... between deciding to get smart about my weight and lifestyle and trying to concieve... lol my body is already pretty much in shock lol

Well, we have a New Moon coming up in 2 days. I think for this moon cycle I'm going to give it a go and see what happens.

Waxing are to bring things to you and waning are to take them away from you so to include that into a healthy life style I would think your focus during waxing should be eating healthy and hitting strength training exercise a little harder because you're bringing health and muscles to your body. During waning you are releasing toxins and excess weight so a light detox with more cardio and perhaps a massage or two would help with releasing the toxins and extra weight. " this is exactly what I was thinking. I think I will start paying attention to this a bit more and maybe make it my December focus

I connect strongly with the moon, I always have. I find these things affect my energy level (physical energy, that is lol). Full moon finds me bursting with energy, I wake up early and stay up late, waxing especially as it gets close to full moon time I like to get things done and have a lot of motivation. The new moon finds me more contemplative and I get worn down easily, so to stay motivated I may do more reading on weight loss and time looking at pictures to note progress as a motivator. The moon phase has never affected my appetite.

During waning you are releasing toxins and excess weight so a light detox with more cardio and perhaps a massage or two would help with releasing the toxins and extra weight.

When you are in your muscle building phase you might stay the same weight or gain weight but when you go into a detox phase you'll be flushing excess fluids out and allowing the muscles to burn more energy which in turn would burn more fat and will bring your weight down.

Obviously you should always be drinking a lot of water. If you are adjusting your lifestyle to the moon phases then another step could be adjusting your diet to the seasons. There are foods that are naturally in season during certain times of the year and not at others but we have access to them all the time because the foods travel great distances to get to us. Do some research as to what foods are normally in season in your region of the world and try to eat mostly those.

There's a fabulous book called staying healthy with the seasons (I forget the author at this moment)that I would recommend. That author also wrote a boke called the detox diet, another great book with many different types of detoxes you can do.

Keep us updated if you choose to work with the moon cycles and let us know how it works. :)

The full moon affects my eating for sure. I used to think it was my period because it was monthly, but its not, Its the full moon. I cannot stop eating as it waxes toward full, and I loose my appetite for the first few days it wanes. I think its cool actually - but It does mean my weightloss goals are affected by it.

Your body, especially female ones, will be cycling with the Moon anyhow. Many Pagan women find their monthly cycles actually correspond with Full or Dark Moons. During those times, your body will have extra water anyhow, so giving them extra fat is probably not a good idea.

Hello fellow pagans, I am a recon heathen and I have been a polytheist and witch for more than ten years now. Sometimes I get caught up in recon stuff but I always try to return to the basic cycles of the world. I am thinking of adjusting my workouts and weight loss to the moon. Obviously the two week periods of increase and decrease are of interest to us looking to gain muscle and lose fat, but I'm not sure exactly how. Would it make sense to increase calorie consumption along with exercise during waxing, and then decrease both during waning? I'm not talking about gorging or fasting, but subtly tugging my habits to be more in line with nature. Has anyone tried anything like this?
