HELSDOTTIR thanks for the wonderful suggestions. I've gotten in the habit of writing down all the readings I do. I'm hoping maybe I can just meditate on the individual cards/meanings over the next week or so and maybe a meaning I hadn't thought of/overlooked may appear to me.

HELSDOTTIR, thanks for the suggestion. I have a difficult time reading for myself. I am going to try what you suggested

When I am having difficulty reading for myself and yet it is important to do so, I have a few strategies that sometimes help. Here are a couple.

1. make a list of all the cards and their positions in the reading and do an objective analysis. (numbers of suits, majors, court cards, etc.)
2. pretend the reading is for someone else...or use the cards to "tell a story" about an unknown person or situation.
3. use the book to notice a meaning you might not have thought of.
4. inspect a card visually to see if you notice something in particular about that card, maybe something you haven't noticed before.

Those are just some ideas. I have more, but that's enough for the time being.

Unfortunatly, I don't have anyone else I can have read for me. The only person I know who also reads is even more of a novice than I am. And I just can't afford the 3 hr trip to go to a professional (plus it seems kind of silly for this situation.)

Usually, when it's something weighty or a topic that I think is particularly important or requires some objectivity, I try to have someone else read for me if I can. Smaller stuff I feel like I can handle.

Do you know someone else who could read for you? A friend, maybe?

You are doing the right thing. You are doing beautifully.

It is difficult to have an objective interpretation of a reading when there is a personal bias of any kind.

The other day I was curious about how a guy felt about our relationship. Back story is I'm married and this guy is a friend of both me and my husband (more my husband's). However, I always got this feeling he wanted more. I won't go into details here, but the reason I did the reading was b/c we have been trying to get him to come for a visit and when it's weeks away he says yeah, but when it gets right to the week before he always has an excuse for not comming.

So I did the reading and the results made me think it was more of a reflection of what I secretly want then what he truely feels. Has anyone ever had that feeling? Did you ask someone for a second opinion?
