I was HOPING to be back at 170 by the end of this challenge, but that didn't pan out. Maybe I will get it done in Success by Samhain and get points for it!

What I find weird: I have a higher total score in Strength training that Moss. What's up with that?

You're absolutely right, my lack of sexiness is a self-esteem issue. But if you knew how far my self-esteem has grown just in the past year, you'd be proud of me. Still, at 57, I get to thinking that I'm past the age of sexy... I'd love to have someone prove me wrong LOL

Here's a new voice for you, my name is Ruby, I've been on your team for a while now, but have never done much more than "huddle" on a daily basis. After FINALLY noticing this challenge, I couldn't help but comment on the search for a new challenge name.

I found that I like both the "sexier" & the "successful" in the title so I'll throw in my two cents vote. I think a combination name would sound nice,
"SUCCESSFULLY SEXIER" BY SAMHAIN"! emoticon

OR

"SUCCESSFUL & SEXIER BY SAMHAIN" emoticon

Moss, you said, "sexiness was never my strong point". Maybe that's how you've always seen yourself, but to coin a phrase "sexiness is in the eye of the beholder" and one must remember that WE ARE WHAT WE SAY! If you say & think you are SEXY, then you are, but if you say I'm not sexy, then you are not!

I just finished a challenge with another of my spark teams & might like to join this new challenge of yours.

LOL Yeah, if you're looking good enough to feel sexy... sexiness was never my strong point. If this were a mental health group, we could do "saner by samhain"... that also might be too much to expect in my case.

Super by Samhain? In my case, it might be Sorer by Samhain...

Well, I'm actually getting lighter. I guess the ice cream wagon I fell onto was caused by the stress of kicking out my roommate and waiting for him to pick up his stuff (3 weeks later, he still hasn't gotten all of it). Even got a few weight points this week.

On the negative side, I now have a working car, which costs me all those good cardio points from having to go walk or bike to the bus. I'll need to develop new strategies.

After spending several weeks near my high weight of this Challenge, suddenly my weight dropped again. This could be special, as I usually go up at the end of a Challenge (which has the un/fortunate result of me getting more weight points early in the next Challenge). Well, not this time, or not cheaply. I'm still not doing all I can, and am fighting lazy thinking about twice per day -- I think I should do something (weights, situps, go for a ride or walk), say not right now, and then don't do it.

Actually, I was just reading a good article on Thyroid from The Healthy Skeptic. Seems the tests the doctor prefer don't really tell half the story, and miss 5 of the possible causes of hypothyroidism.

But for me, I fell on the wagon last month -- the ice cream wagon. Don't know what happened, kept picking more up and gulping it down.

You may want to consider having your thyroid checked. Not as much of an issue for guys, but that's a substantial gain for someone dieting and exercising.

I'm not going to post my records for this week. I didn't write anything down. My Uncle passed away unexpectedly Thursday at the age of 54, and obviously, everything went out the window. I did lose a whole pound but that's because I only ate saltine crackers and ginger ale for two days...

I had a rather precipitous drop in an earlier Challenge, so don't worry about it. Your body is responding to what you're asking of it and doing for it. And don't scare yourself out of stopping the new habits you're developing.

My spreadsheet actually went to my spam folder originally, but I anticipated this since my email didn't know your email. Perhaps that's what happened...

On a different note... I weighed myself yesterday morning, and I was 192.5, a whole 2 pound drop since a few days before... And I totally new it was because of my progressing eating habits and that I have started walking more. (Yay warm weather and sunshine!). Weighed myself this morning and I have dropped another 2 pounds, according to the scale...

Is this natural? Can picking up exercise really help this much this quickly? I want to believe it, but part of me thinks it is too good to be true.

Get a copy of OpenOffice.org. Or any other open-document spreadsheet program. Nearly all of them are free. If you want "cheap" instead of "free", try Ashampoo Office (assuming you're running Windows).

I almost totally fell off the wagon, between increased shoulder, elbow, hip and foot pain and helpful friends offering me more rides.

My chiroquacktor has yet to decrease the shoulder and elbow pain, although my neck motion is improving. My doctor referred me to a podiatrist for the foot pain and to a radiology center to get an MRI of the hip, appts to follow.

I've been getting few 7s, a number of 10s, even a 20... didn't get to use all of them in the Challenge though. Lots more 5s than usual.

These spins are randomly generated... but SP could set the random levels higher or lower. Perhaps when lots of people are getting lots of points, they lower them, and when interest begins to taper, they raise them (the center of the random range, perhaps from 3 to 7).

The only difference in points between BbB and LbL Challenges is we're going back to the original strength values, 10 reps to a point instead of 8. Should be easy to follow.

This first week is going to mostly involve walking, I think. We're doing a few lit drops, and it's my week to do mail runs.

That'll be good for piling up the fitness minutes without throwing out the back or the hips! I've been doing a little extra in the ST department also, to make up for the shift from 8 to 10 reps.

Yes, if you don't have a total of 15 points from weight loss points, strength points, cardio points and support points, you don't count your login points.

You'll see on the spreadsheet that there are weekly totals on the right. Copy those to Notepad or similar and report them each week. For examples of how each of us do it, check the Buff By Beltane message group... everyone has their own style.

One question regarding the daily Login points: Does this mean that unless you've already tallied 15 points (through weight loss, exercise and support points) that you don't count your login points?

Also, where do we touch base with each other? Or do we just post at the end?

Last challenge, only two who started at the beginning were there at the end, but there were two or three others who came in late at least for the experience.

In this case, you've only missed a couple days, so don't worry about it. If you can remember what work you did, you can fill in those days.

10 pts for each lb you lose
1 pt for every 10 reps of a Strength Training exercise - up to 180 reps or 18 pts/day
(remember if you do this daily, to do a different set of muscles every other day so you don't over-train, muscle is built on your "rest" day)
1 pt for every 10 minutes of cardio up to 180 min or 18 pts/day
1 pt for every Pagan Place team member you support - max of 10/day
Count your daily Login points any day in which you exceed 15 total points
