It's my understanding that dreams of you flying means you have a feeling of freedom in some area of your life. Meditation is a good place to start for astral travel (did I say that already?).
I had an awesome experience the other day! :)
I must be too worried about mundane things to Astral Travel, though I have aspired to get to that point someday. I might just be one of those people that will never be able to experience it. Though I have had dreams about my body flying...have heard that is the beginnings.

I use to do a lot of Astral Traveling, but haven't for the past few years. I found that sometimes when you have a negative experience it is best when you try again is use a gold tether to help secure you until you build your confidence back up.

That is very typical. There are many different levels of astral traveling and one of the most fun; albeit most dangerous, is staying on this physical plan and cruizing around. I've done that several times during the night in a similar situation you described.
To astral travel it's easiest to go into a medatative state (or drowsy reading state) and allow your consciousness to fly off. It's hard for me to describe. You have to trust yourself and what you're about to do or it'll be difficult to let go of your physical body. That's where I'm having a hard time. I can't leave because of the scary situation i was in last time I left on purpose. I still occasionally do it during the night.
Typically you want to use astral travel as a spiritual journey. A way to find answers or advance your soul forward. You can go to the akashic records, find your spirit guide, or converse with higher vibrational energies. They key to this is to move up and out of the physical plane and increase your own vibrational energy. You can do that through meditation and spiritual work. The more concerned with mundane things and negative thoughts you are the harder it will be to raise your own vibration high enough to break free from the physical plane.
I could honestly write a book on this so I'll stop myself there. Thank you for sharing your expereince!
Hi Cassarah, I also am interested in the whens and hows of astral travel. I experienced it once, many years ago. I was lying on my couch reading "The Way of The Shaman" I got drowsy, my cat curled up on my chest and ... I was above myself looking down. I still had conscious thought, realized what I was doing and flew right through the wall and outside. I circled the property a few times, buzzed my friend (to see if he would notice, don't think he did) and plunged toward the ground and through into a tunnel, traveling very quickly. I became very excited, this was how the book described a Shamanic Journey, wondering what was at the end and ... I was back in my body.
It was an incredible experience but I have never been able to fly again ...
Totally off topic for spark people; however, I was wondering if anyone on here was good at astral traveling? I used to be years ago but had a negative experience and haven't been able to do it on 'command' since and was just wanting to discuss it with some people who are naturals at it.
