No one person has all the answers. As far as there being no "teachers" I don't agree with that, as we are all teachers. We all learn from each other. We all grow from each other, and we can all help each other along our own paths. There is no one specific way to do anything and by working with others of different philosophies we can learn to understand why different people choose to believe one way or another. Through this we can find similarities and learn how to work with many other belief systems. When we can do that there tends to be less hostility and a more accepting atmosphere. It really does help to understand there are a multitude of ways to go about any type of task, be it job related, health related or spirituality based.

If you want to learn with others and get a little help and guidance check out my school I run. It is all free and it may help you out in forging your own path.

www.mistresskalpanasrealm.com/2009

We don't focus on one specific school of thought, it is more of an eclectic mix. We have a degree program, which is optional, and it helps you build your own path that is tailor made to fit your needs. Our teachers come from all walks of life and belief systems. We have a lot of interaction and live discussion groups and study halls as well as online rituals which you can observe or participate in. Teachers are always available to help you out one on one and answer questions or help you find someone who may have the help you need if we are not sure ourselves.

good post, Moss, and provoking of something else I'd like to say. So, here it is:

We all, or at least most of us, I think, are the products of a culture that tells us we need to look for answers outside ourselves.

It is difficult to break that patterning, even though we give at least lip service to the idea of connecting to our own authentic self and proceeding from there.

It would be well to continually affirm one's own unique inner connection to Spirit.

The truth is, there are no "teachers", or rather, we must be our own teachers, being grateful, of course, for those who have facilitated our learning process in some way.

To paraphrase a Buddhist saying...when encountering one who sets her/himself up as your Spiritual Authority, simply be aware that this "teacher" has not even learned the first lesson.

Serenity,

While I have all the training and degrees and stuff, I kept getting passed from one teacher to another. There are times I have an inferiority complex about what I was taught... but I know what I know, and articles I have written are being saved and referred to, so I must have learned something.

A teacher is great, a coven is great, all that stuff... but what is in your heart is what is important. Goddess will give you Her label, and the one you use or others use for you is not important.

Hugs,
Moss

I overcame my spiritual obesity, now for the physical!

Thank you for the reply and what you say makes a lot of sense. I am always looking for things to learn, things to do in just about every aspect of my life. A new song to sing, a new way to move, a new job now, so on and so forth. I'll keep looking and i'll keep finding things that I want to incorporate into my life and go from there. Thanks again.

Realizing one "knows nothing" is the beginning of wisdom. I think that is one of the things that makes us pagan. Not knowing, and "wondering" about everything, we can be open to new concepts, concepts that can free us from the spiritual deadening of dogma.

So, imo, the wisest pagan is the one who is constantly questing and questioning.

So, right now, I have some "answers" that work for me, Right Now, always remembering that future learning will give me new answers.

In Her Service,
Ellen

ps..."call" yourself whatever you feel is true for you....-and- realize that labels are a convenient but pale substitute for truth, and "the map is not the territory".

I have been looking into wicca/paganism for several years now had have countless numbers of books yet i dont feel like I know anything. I wont call myself wiccan so i stick with pagan but i havent done rituals in years or spells or anything for that matter. Part of me feels like i'm pretending because i dont know anything. I am serious in learning and want to know more but I just dont know how i guess. I dont know any gods or goddess but i feel more drawn to the elements, fairies, and dragons. I just dont want to feel like i'm pretending because in my mind i'm not.
