"I woke up this morning, the sunshine was shining
I put on my happy face
I'm living, I'm able, I'm breathing, I'm grateful
To put on my happy face

Woke up and realized this world's not so bad after all
Looked at it through a child's eyes, and I saw these beautiful
Things that you never think about
Like the ocean, moonlight, stars and clouds"

Garden spiders will make huge webs from plant to plant as well in corners. I think the garden spider I am talking about is referred to as the banded garden spider. Their body is sorted elongated.

I wonder if they're the same? The cat spider's webs remind me of Charolette's web - in a corner, the circular ones?

I will have to look them up. The one spider that I think is neat is orange and white garden spider. I love to look at their webs especially when the dew is on it.

Now, I've heard that spider webs can be used as an absorbant for a wound or laceration, I've seen them as art, but never snacked on!
We've always called them cat spiders out here, don't know why. The come in a variety of colors, sometimes w/stripes, sometimes solid but generally in the orange/white range - rather like a ginger cat? They get really big fat bodies on them. Don't seem to be aggressive and they spin really cool webs. They're about the size of .50 cent piece maybe? Somewhere between that and a quarter. I don't know of anyone that's complained of being bit by them, unlike the hobo's and brown recluse we have that are very poisonous not to mention hideously ugly. gleh. Not to mention the black widows. I don't see a lot of wolf spiders although I've been told we do have them here as well. I don't really mind spiders, just not in my house...

What are cat spiders? I at first when you mentioned this I thought it were the spiders your cat was eating. I have a cat that thinks spider webs are the best thing to eat and seems to enjoy dinning on daddy long legs.

What my spider visits tell me is that they're hungry, and I look like food.

I wonder if their trying to tell us something? There's a discussion room about that in Psychic Sparkers about signs, omens, etc. I might have to post a question there about it.

Lately, I've sensed a spider-like presence. It doesn't happen every night, but it's always very sudden when it does. It's very big and dark and is very close to my face, but when i go turn on the light, there's never anything there. But the fear remains. The spiders have been extremely busy this past month, even building their webs across well-traveled paths, and on car antennas. Maybe I just never noticed them around this time of year before, but it seems that they are more active than usual.

It's definatley fall and the little buggers are coming in. I had one scurry across my towel on my head this morning when I was brushing my teeth. I'm not prone to screaming so I don't do it well. DH was more curious about the sound coming out of the bathroom than alarmed. I don't mind them outside, Sam the Cat Spider has been on the porch all summer. Not my favorite critter but I understand they have a function in nature and the web is beautiful.
But, aside from pesticides, how best to keep them out? I really don't need Hobo's or Brown Recluse (like the one on my head this morning) sharing my space. They're bites are not pleasant at best, I'm rather attached to my flesh, don't particularly want it rotting off my bones just yet.

In many ancient texts the spider is linked to the mother figure. Maybe you should call yours. She may be trying to reach you.

LOL the only spiders that visit me are brown recluse. I keep trying to tell THEM something -- stay out of my space! The spellwork around my home clearly states in Spiderese that all who stay out are blessed, but all who are found within will be dead. I would rather be gentler with them, but they tend to look at me as FOOD so it's simple self-defense. And getting bitten a few times by brown recluses... well, not a good thing.

Hugs,
Moss

Merry meet! I haven't posted in about a year, so I think it's time.

Today I have had a small spider on me several times, always, I think, the same small black spider. We live in a wooded area, so that's not surprising, but I wonder if someone is trying to tell me something, and what that something is?

Web-weaving-- attention to my home
Black-- hmm... don't know where that fits in, but I'm sure it's positive.
Spiders-- well, this little scurrying creature is trying to tell me to get busy about my nest.

Since we've moved, in March, I haven't unpacked much. Perhaps it's time.

Starteller emoticon
