I got caught up--love it when you guys post! I taught today--okay class--only 3 parent helpers and the teacher so 4 groups of kids went out with the GPS units. They all did fine! Talkative bunch and moved SO SLOW that it took awhile to get anything done. But I had nice weather and the head teacher helped me clean up so I was done with clean up in record time!

Tomorrow is the 5K that I ran last year (Carol even remembered!). I am not running but helping this year. I haven't done enough running to even attempt it but I did hit over 1500 fitness minutes! I am amazed and proud. Think that had something to do with losing some of those last 10 pounds?? Anyway--hubby and I will be talking signposts to get people through the park on the right course--it is a bit confusing since you have to do parts of it twice.

I did a yoga class tonight--donation to Sandy Relief. It has been a long time since I have done one and I am still not flexible. But I enjoyed it--different teacher. My girlfriend was going to join me but she has a sore back so she cancelled. It was still very full!

My grandmother used the Ensure but my mom tasted it and does not like it---but if push comes to shove, I am sure we can get her to use it---she is actually eating better---small amounts but more than she was---so that is good.
Carol, now, that is ridiculous---guess your doctors will just have to call every time they want to give you something new to see what the procedure is---and speaking of insurance---the doc wanted a special test to make sure my mom does not have cancer---but Medicare wont' do it because she does not have a cancer diagnosis---duh? When did it get so insurance companies could dictate to the doctors what they can and cannot do? No wonder doctors charge so much---having to pay someone to get this all straight must be a nightmare. So Mom is holding out on that test til next visit---if she is losing more weight, then I can see paying the 108 but not til then.
Anne, I really need you to come do my house---geez! I would even help---LOL---and what is it with people who close or shut a door when it was just the opposite? of course this is only a male problem---- emoticon and leaving toilet seats up and cabinet doors open?
Terri, there is pumpkin in your bread recipe? that sounds interesting. Let us know how much damage they do. Do you use yeast? or a bread machine? I have always wanted to learn to make bread but yeast kind of scares me---where is there a warm place for it to rise is always a conundrum for me?
Had to give 2 tests today----at least that got me out of those noisy classes. We need to run out for a couple of errands and then I need to do like Terri and set the timer---just too much I should be doing instead of on the computer. Hard to believe that December starts tomorrow.

LOL Glad you were able to swing by, Anne! Do you have a heater in your office? I don't know why they don't think of leaving the door in the same position they found it. I think we were having a chat earlier about how men can always find a dish they want to use, but can never remember where to PUT IT AWAY! I don't think my timer's working anymore. Things are slowing down here and I'm seriously thinking about taking a nap! I did get my stove top cleaned, though, and took the recyclables out, so my kitchen counter is a little cleaner. I got a phone call that got me way off track and now I've lost my momentum. Okay...setting timer one more time...

I just got a FB invitation from DD2 for a Percussion Ensemble/Calipso Band musical tomorrow night at her University. Why do these things start so late? It starts at 8 pm and goes to at least 10--then we have an hour to drive home. I love my DD and enjoy Calipso (for a little while), but that's past my bedtime~ I'll ask Steve and see if he wants to go. He'll do the driving, so it won't matter to me--and I can take my knitting and be productive while enjoying the concert.

I just had to pop on...I have my iTunes going, so my computer is on.

It's cold here in Wrentham...about 30 degrees F. I'm at work in "my" office with the door closed. My office is cold...concrete outside walls and slap concrete floor with tiles, so I keep the door closed. In comes the ass't manager looking for a parts slip and he leaves the door open. No biggie...he'll be leaving in a moment. Sure enough he leaves. But do you think he'd close the door behind him? What's up with that? Of course in the spring/summer when I want the cross-ventilation from my window and the front door, I leave the office door open and what do the guys do (ass't manager isn't the only one guilty of these things)...yup, they close the door! DUH!

I griped, so back to work!

I, too, am most grateful for the wonderful goodies and the lovely words of friendship and love that you shared. I will return the love shortly!

Terri, I need to borrow your timer...maybe I'll get some things accomplished in a more timely fashion!

I'm back on the computer because I wanted to take my picture...I colored my hair because the roots were showing and not looking so nice. I chose the wrong color though. It has more red in it than I thought, or maybe I left it in too long...was reading through all those chats I missed. Anyway, I was trying to take a picture so I cold send it to my kids. Sadly, the lighting isn't very good, so it's not coming out too great. Maybe dh can get the color to look right with the digital camera.

Ladies, I have to tell you that the goodies and kind words I received yesterday brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for those lovely goodies and sentiments--it really made my day! I'm sending some out today as long as my Internet stays up. It was really glitchy yesterday and completely unreliable. Maybe it was because of the storm.

Anna and Lily are back in school today--short week for Lily as she's been out since Tuesday. The pink eye seems to be going away at any rate and they aren't supposed to be contagious after 24 hrs. on the drops. We're still doing a LOT of hand washing around here! Jasmine just called Aunt Donna (she lives in the "penthouse" over our shop) to see if she could come and visit for a while. She got the okay, so down the hill she went--independent little socialite--so now it's just me and Rosie in a quiet house. Steve went to the post office and will probably stop at the hardware store.

I'm working on more socks today and am finishing up a pair this morning and starting a new pair. I really need to get up into my sewing room and get things underway there, but I know that once I start sewing, everything else will get put on the back burner. I need a list!

List started--now need to set the timer to keep me moving! (setting timer...tick, tick, tick....)

Yes, it's 15 minutes later and I've:
brought in some firewood (need to refill the wheelbarrow now)
washed the baking sheets from last night
put a load of folded laundry away
swept up the kitchen (from the firewood)

Now I get 15 minutes on the computer with you all :)

I'm going to enter my bread recipe into the Spark calculator and get an estimate of what my rolls are costing me in calories. I know they're more nutritious that usual because of the pumpkin and oats and the fact that there's no oil in them...well, except for the real butter that goes on afterwards~ I just have to try to estimate how many rolls that recipe made.

Hi all!
Wow you have been busy the last couple of days!

I've forgotten...sorry didn't take notes. Here's the link to Tastefully Simple:
www.tastefullysimple.com
I really like their stuff, but I think it is too expensive!

Grandbaby 2 is due 2/10/13. I'm hoping Theresa is late (sorry, T!) and she has Circe (middle name is not definite, but probably Elizabeth) on the 13th (my b-day!).

I just got off the phone with T (hour call). Forgot what other issues I was going to address! I didn't take notes...go figure!

Oh yeah! Terri, 32 people for T-giving. It must have been crazy wonderful! Sounds like you all had a great T-giving day weekend! One that I view as a good old fashioned one!

Got a lot of exercise in on Wed and Thursday with all the vacuuming and cleaning. Don't get me wrong...the rectory is not filthy...it is just big...2 oversized rooms and full bath on the third floor, 2 bedrooms, 2 offices, and 2 full baths on the 2nd floor, an office (which is going to become a chapel/prayer room soon), a living room, dining room, and over-sized kitchen, laundry room and a half-bath. And, sadly, I am old...can't get things done as quickly as I used to. I didn't touch the 3rd floor, but did all the 2nd and all, but the kitchen on the 1st floor on Wednesday. Did the kitchen. That was the worst room in the house. Having no housekeeper for a couple of months, the kitchen was not what I would want my kitchen to be, so I started a "deep" clean. I have more to do, but for someone to walk into the kitchen, they would think it is pretty clean. However, the cabinets all need to be cleaned with wood cleaner and the tile floor has, for lack of a better term, indentational designs that catch dirt and the grout is supposed to be light. I used my SteamMop, which did a good job, but it still needs a good scrubbing. If I had a week, I think I could get it all spic and span clean, but will do bits and pieces. Both priests seem happy with the way things are coming out and that is the most important thing.

I have most of my Christmas cards ready. Still working on my note, though. Hope to have them in the mail by Monday!

Need to empty my dishwasher. Have a great rest of the day!

Anne

Dianne & Cathy -- I don't even USE a purse anymore... Carry my cash and CC in a baggie! YEP - you heard me -- a BAGGIE (I use a heavier duty quart size freezer baggie)!! LOL... It works well because I put it in my pocket -- it's nice and flat in my scrub jacket, it fits nicely in my jeans pocket, fits into a coat pocket easily, etc etc!!! Then when it starts getting worn out, I get a NEW baggie out of the drawer! emoticon

I started doing that because usually I have alot of OTHER bags/equipment I needed to carry with me and this just seemed to "fit my needs". I leave a small "CC wallet" in my car console that has other cards in it -- like my Hallmark Gold Crown card, our frequent flyer cards (that we NEVER use!), our library cards, etc. I just carry the "main" ones I tend to need in my baggie -- insurance card, CC, ATM, Driver's license plus a little cash.

And speaking of insurance, I am REALLY ready to kick Aetna to the curb!!!!! I went to pick up yet another prescription yesterday (a new one my pulmonologist ordered) and IT needed to be "pre-approved" TOO!!!! NEVER in my LIFE have we had such issues with an insurance company!!

I hadn't been home very long from TRYING to pick up that prescription and I got a call from Aetna about a different claim. They can NOT seem to make up their minds about how they're going to process this chiropractic claim!!??!! NOW they're back to saying that my chiro is "out of network" completely (previously it had been that he wasn't "in network" but they had some special agreement) -- SO that visit is going to cost me $113!!!!!! This is all a result of the fact that I looked him up the one way online that apparently wasn't the "right way" because I clicked on the "wrong" link that said "preferred providers"....!!!

After that bit of good news, I asked the woman about this prescription stuff... She referred me to some list online -- a "precertification list"... But I was asking her how I was supposed to know that BEFORE I got to the pharmacy... Well -- she said "just call from the doctor's office and it only takes about 5 minutes"... Ummm... yeah, can you see a doctor's office tolerating THAT?? For ANY prescription they write??! Then she suggested I print out the list and carry it with me all the time...SIXTEEN pages worth -- oh -- and that's liable to change!!

Ultimately my doctor's office is supposed to talk to the insurance company to JUSTIFY why they're writing certain prescriptions! It's like they don't trust the doctor!! When he's saying that's what I need -- oh but the insurance company KNOWS better apparently! It's a cost saving measure on their part -- and I "get" that but it seems a little extreme to me when I've had numerous other insurance companies and NEVER had stuff like this constantly going on!

OK -- done with that "whine" for the day.... Are you guys ready to tell me to NOT try to post every day??!! LOL....

I should get going. Need to call the insurance company back (JOY!) plus need to call the doctor's office probably etc... Hope everyone's having a great Friday so far!!

Dianne -- WOW -- all wrapped and everything huh?!! I'm hoping to just look over what I have already and make a final "need yet" list...! Wrapping hadn't even crossed my MIND yet! LOL...

Cathy - sorry you didn't get any "real answers" at the doctor's!

Lindie -- I didn't know they even MADE honeysuckle toys for cats! But since we're allergic to them at our house, we've never had a cat... I had heard of catnip - but not the honeysuckle...

And Ensure's a great idea for Cathy's mom if she'd drink it!

Terri -- OUCH about the medicine! My mom has to use eye drops for glaucoma and I know they are REALLY expensive too!

You had my mouth watering with your bread story!!! You must have had ALOT of oatmeal left! Normally you take antihistamines for allergies -- not sure what YOU would need to take for your "bread allergy"!??! LOL...

And that's TOO funny about Mary Beth blushing to your Christmas Tree dancing! It's WONDERFUL that you can share that with your grands -- and set such a GREAT example for them!! Hopefully that helps them get on a "good road" of what a relationship SHOULD be like...!

Betsy -- will be praying for safe travels!

Dianne, LOL to making gifts for the cats. I have a very small purse that is just that size with a long strap---I love it --it fits under my car seat when I am at work---I don't take my purse into school---and it is not cumbersome when shopping---and a lot safer as I can sling it over my shoulder across my body and it does not hinder me. I never have been a purse person.
Betsy, so I guess we won't hear from you til Monday? have a safe trip to dd1's.
Lindie, I will try to remember that---my neighbor has a lot of honeysuckle and I will read up on how to dry it so that I can send it to you for Kartmen---don't think I can do it is the winter as it dies back.
Terri, yummy! emoticon At least a lot of it went elsewhere---hope you enjoyed your movie---and I had to smile about your granddaughter. In MD, your daughter's kids would probably qualify for a medical program that would help pay for doctor's visits and prescriptions---surprised that CA doesn't have something similar or has she never looked into it? Hopefully she will get that position full time and finally have insurance for the whole family. Eyedrops are expensive----which really seems silly.
Okay, the end of the month---time to look at how you did this month and decide what you can tweak for December---esp. with all the challenges in the food category we face this time of year. Enjoy this last day of the month and have a great day!

I didn't get any decorating done today, but nearly finished another sock. We've had kids every day this week, what with them being out of school; however, we did get our traditional dance to the light of the Christmas tree after they went home. I taught Mary Beth to do a 4-step and told her that Pop and I dance in the living room every year as soon as the tree is decorated. She said, "Really?" and blushed a little--but I could tell that she liked the idea. So do I emoticon

I have "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean" from Netflix tonight. I liked Paul Newman and remember seeing this movie ages ago but don't remember anything about it. I'll let you know if I liked it tomorrow. Goodnight!

I should be in bed too but waited up for dd2 and then realized I needed to do some online banking before I lose this computer tomorrow. This will be my last night post from this "dinosaur" computer :)

Good night. Tomorrow Sophie is coming early because her mom is out of town at a math conference and her dad has a distance to drive. Ava isn't coming until 8:30, I guess somebody will always be here early. Oh well, as long as I get paid, I'll get up. It helps that Sophie is an adorable 8 month old.

I took Anna and Lily to the doctor today because they need more medicine for their eyes. DD was using what was left from a previous prescription but after 4 kids with it, she's about out. They don't have any insurance so will be billed for the doctor visit and I had to pay cash for the Rx--$68.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for about 1 oz. of eye drops! Seriously!? If it weren't for the fact that they can't go to school, I'd say to just let it run it's course. Without treatment, it passes in 7-10 days, just like a cold; with treatment, it's 3-5 days. They just can't afford to miss that much school, so we opted for the Rx but I thought I was going to choke!

Well girls, I succumbed to temptation today. I couldn't help it--I had this leftover oatmeal that really need to be used and no one wanted to eat it. Soooo...I made some bread--about a quintuple batch! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I made it into rolls the size of hamburger buns and I've had 3 already. I think I'm good for now...they aren't hot any more and the fresh-outta-the-oven smell is dissipating. I sent some dough home with Mary Beth and gave her instructions on baking. Then DS1 dropped by as I was putting the first batch into the oven and I told him he could take some home if he'd wait 15 minutes for them to bake...so, I got rid of at least 3 batches and will have Jasmine tomorrow to help eat some. Oh boy, was it good--but I can feel my allergy kicking in as I sit here an type~ I truly think I am still within my calorie range but am sure that I'm waaay over on carbs.

Dianne, I am truly sorry that you didn't win the Powerball money. I was already planning our trip emoticon ...sigh... So sad~

I am making catnip toys for my grandcats and a small purse for DD3. She needs something small for her phone, ID and key--and wants a long strap so I am doing that for her.

Got the bulletin board up at Sunday School and I teach tomorrow so should go to bed!

LOL, at least you got your money back. What are you sewing?
No real answer at the doctor's office---watching her weight now---if she continues to lose, might have to change possible diagnosis---but she only lost one tenth of a pound in the 2 weeks---but has lost 14 in the last few months. So back we go on the 20th.

I had 3 numbers so get--wait for it--$7 as my powerball winnings. Oh, well--really didn't expect to win--but would have liked it!

I have all the presents wrapped! I am still sewing a few things and can't find one other -- that Target bag is here SOMEWHERE -- but I am mostly wrapped! Woohoo!!

Now to finish the letter and do the cards--that is likely this weekend's job.

I did get to the gym--did the "power pump" class and had 25 pounds on the bar for part of it! Did drop to 10 by the end but I did a lot with 15 and more than one exercise with the 25. First time I had gone to that weight and I did it! Tomorrow is yoga--$$ going to a local relief effort so that will be fun.

Yes, everything goes up but our paychecks---and they wonder why the economy is not improving?
Might want to check your numbers to see if you get a small portion of it---every little bit helps---LOL
Well, home but will be heading out soon---need to get gas on my way and have to get to the doctor's office early so I can get a wheelchair for my mom

Terri -- I know what you mean about when the schools/groups used to say "it's only $5" or whatever!!! Even with only MY kids that used to get burdensome -- because EVERYONE would be doing that!

Although that seems to be a common "theme" with ALOT of things -- like I can remember one month I got a notification that our sewer bill was going up (it's already TOO high if you ask me -- but that's a whole OTHER discussion).... On the notice it said that it was "only going up" x amount...and SURE for one bill, that didn't seem TOO bad -- but the very SAME week I got that SAME song and dance from MULTIPLE companies -- and my bills had gone up a total of $100/month!!!

One time our homeowner's insurance went up like $50... I called to check on it because we hadn't had any claims etc etc. The girl that answered the phone was blowing it off saying "it's only like $50"!!! My point to her was that it was an extremely high PERCENTAGE of an increase -- not to mention that $50 is nothing to "poo poo"...!! I just think it's so easy for these companies to pass things on to us as consumers... Oh -- gas prices are up?? OK -- the garbage people up our rates because their fuel costs just went up... WELL -- guess WHAT??! So did MINE for my every day driving -- WHO do I get to pass THAT on to??!! Funny how "the buck" stops HERE -- with me and my little paycheck that has NOT gone up!

OK -- enough of that...kind of got distracted there...

Good luck helping to control the potential "pink-eye epidemic"!! Will keep my fingers crossed it does NOT spread!

emoticon I hadn't even checked my Powerball ticket yet but saw that someone in AZ and/or MO won...WAAAHHHHHH......my dreams are crushed....!

Cathy -- hope you get GOOD news at the doctor's -- or at least something you can "work with" for your mom!

Dianne - SO SORRY to hear your DD is having anxiety issues again! Hard especially when she's so far away -- can't just go try to help her out or distract her or anything... It's neat that she's still confiding in you though!! Hard for YOU -- but nice she's comfortable doing so...

From the sounds of your description of your finger, I'm guessing that's an internal suture trying to push through the skin -- or actually breaking through the skin -- it WILL be tender like that...

Already been on here too long...so need to get going! Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!!

Dianne, wonder if there is a sliver of something working its way out---or an inner stitch? ouchy. Sounds like normal anxiety about deadlines---gosh, I don't miss that part of higher education at all----but for some people that can get really bad---really kind of surprised that she went away with deadlines approaching---hoping once she has turned it in, she can relax. Good for dd3---no surprise there, is it? Is DD2 driving to those places? that is pretty interesting. How long will she have her position? is it possible that this is leading to full time? or maybe this will lead to contacts that will get her a full time position somewhere. Sounds like you will have a full house for the holiday.

Well, I didn't win and I'm sure someone did--those are birthday dates just like I played! DD1 says I matched 3 so have $7 coming! I really would have gotten us all together somewhere!!

My DD1 IMed me this AM--she was still awake working on something for school. Please keep her in prayers--her anxiety is back. They were on vacation last week--and she had a mild attack on Sunday thinking about work--and it is back big time (even with the meds) today. She just wants/needs to finish and then I think it will be better.

DD2 is visiting other wildlife refuges in the midwest this weekend and DD3 is prepping for finals. They will be here in 3 weeks! DD1 will arrive late 12/25 with hubby. I cannot wait! Oh--DD3 is doing EXCELLENT at school--hooray!

I need to get moving to get to the gym. Hubby looked at my finger--it feels like there is an ingrown hair or something--that is what hurts if I brush against it wrong. He got out something last night--feels a bit better today but I don't know if it is skin that has gotten "hard" or just what. I still feel "something" that "pokes" so we'll work on it again tonight.

Anyway--have a great day, ladies!! Hope whoever did win the powerball makes the good choices WE would have made! LOL

Mare, had to giggle about hiding under a horse---LOL Glad to hear from you and so jealous that you are done Christmas shopping.
Lindie, good for you in getting in the extra exercise---is the cardiac place on the way home?
Carol, yep, great minds think alike. Sure hope one of you wins---they did say that there are a lot of winners of small prizes too---so don't forget to check. It sure would be nice to have any extra money at this time of year. Hope you find a Jake for this year. I don't mind the gift cards over something I don't like, but would like someone to TRY to find a little something to go with it.---figure the only ones who will try is Taylar and Michael.
Terri, busy as usual, I see---what print is this year's pjs? I love my socks on cold days.
Got to run---have to dry my hair---tooooooo cold to go out with wet hair---and take my mom to the doctor this afternoon---sure hope they have some idea what is going on.
Today's challenge---send a goodie to a Spark friend and tell them why you value their friendship---and if you haven't heard from someone in a while, maybe send a Miss you goodie to that person. Get SPARKIN' emoticon

You're all welcome at my house any time! I'm probably 7 hrs or so from Dianne's DD1 so we'd have to go and meet her too.

Mare, my brother-in-law laid back in the recliner and went to sleep with a dozen kids playing all around him. I think he just turned his hearing aids off. I just recounted and got 32 this time. We had 16 adults and 16 kids--I must've forgotten to count my sleeping BIL! LOL It was a bit of a circus, though. We were just REALLY thankful that the weather was clear so we weren't cooped up the whole time.

I'm so happy that Betsy is getting a new computer! Leaving it with the tech for the data transfer over the weekend is perfect.

We used to do more community things during this season when the kids were smaller. I think that's because we were more active in community things in those days. I miss some of it, but not all of it. I remember being SO stinkin' busy between class parties at school and the Christmas program, PLUS the Sunday School program at church, PLUS choir practices (the only time I will sing in public)...and every organization acts as though theirs is the only event you have on your calendar! The kids' teachers would say, "Don't worry about the gift exchange--we've set the limit at $5.00 and you don't have to bake cupcakes for the party. You can just buy cookies if you want." But they seemed to forget that I had 5 kids in separate classrooms, and each one "only" needed a little something that was either going to cost me $5-10 at the store, or an hour or more in my kitchen. We got paid every two weeks and I would usually get the note right after I'd done our shopping or paid the bills and it would be asking me to send something I didn't have on hand (like soda, cookies, chips, hot dogs) and I didn't have the extra $ when we were trying to plan for our own family's Christmas. No matter how many times I brought it up in the PTF meetings, it didn't change. Don't get me wrong--I love Christmas and giving gifts. I'm just saying that it was HARD at times to meet everyone's expectations.

We've been keeping Jasmine since Jenny started teaching and they've been dealing with pink eye at their house for 2 weeks. Lily has missed 2 days of school so far and may need to go to the clinic tomorrow so that we can get another prescription. Last year, Jenny was able to get a larger bottle of medicine because they knew it would probably go through all 6 kids. She still had some of that Rx but it's getting low. Steve and I are washing our hands all day long in hopes that we'll escape it.

I stayed up past midnight last night and then got up at 6 a.m. so I think I'm going to head to bed a little early tonight. I need to get started on my Christmas sewing. I finished another pair of socks this morning and got them in the mail. I have 2 more orders to fill before Christmas and a few more requests that could wait until after. I told her that I didn't think I'd be able to do more in the amount of time left, so she can wait until after if necessary. I did start taking measurements while the grands were here. Don't have them all yet, but have enough to get started.

Cathy -- I know what you mean about gift cards...BUT having said that, I ASK for them myself AND I GIVE them alot as gifts because I personally LOVE getting them so....!! I think part of the reason I do that though is because I'm NOT a "shopper" -- so I have a hard time getting ideas for other people AND I don't like to shop around to give others ideas for ME... I ONLY shop if I absolutely HAVE to! SO gift cards come in handy at those times!

Every year we also do what alot of you guys sound like you do -- pull an ornament/gift tag off a tree for donation... We usually try to get someone around Jake's age -- or someone with the name of Jake...just to make it extra special....

WOO HOO Betsy -- for not having to get up early tomorrow!!! I FEEL your pain of those early days!! Many days I'd have to be down at the hospital BY 5:30 a.m. to start setting up -- which meant leaving my house by 5 a.m.... So I truly understand!!

Dianne -- I have a ticket to the big lottery tonight too!! ONE of us OUGHT to win, don't ya think??!!! I promise I'll share too....OK?!

And it IS a "pipedream" as Cathy said -- but my philosophy has always been "You can't win, if you don't play" -- so I'll buy a ticket even now and then!! Gives you something to dream about!! All the GOOD we could do with something like that! WOW....

Lindie -- good luck seeing if your legs get better without the statins!! Definitely one of the biggest complaints I'll hear from people...those leg pains! Sometimes those side effects can be modified with the time of day you take the meds...but not always...

And the dr is right about the Tylenol and liver damage -- it's taking REALLY large doses for a REALLY long time that can cause problems along those lines....

Mare -- you are TOO funny! You and my daughter -- she DEFINITELY "hides out" at the barn sometimes - although maybe not "under her horse"! LOL...

I need to sign off.... The dog keeps crawling all over my lap and has almost closed the window SEVERAL times now... I'm thinking she wants attention!!?? Plus I need to go deal with some laundry anyway... "Talk" to you guys tomorrow!

Terri -- THANKS for "sharing" your Thanksgiving with us!!! LOL to Mare's comment about it! A TRUE "horse person"!! emoticon

I do NOT however, understand WHY you were NOT on Spark posting in the middle of all that?!! LOL... emoticon

Next year I want to come to YOUR house for Thanksgiving! I mean, what's one more, right??!! All those homemade pies sounded TOO yummy!! HEY -- maybe that could be our "meeting place"!! OK everyone -- next year -- Terri's house over Thanksgiving!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can't for the LIFE of me remember the movies I tried to watch -- maybe I can go onto Redbox and look them up?? I THINK the one was called "Two Days in New York" -- does that sound familiar to anyone?? I wanted to watch it for obvious reasons -- hoping to "see" a bit of NYC...but the movie was just HORRIBLE and wasn't showing much of ANY sights....

Did I ever tell you that we watched "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"?? That was awhile ago -- and it was pretty good! Both Bill and I ended up enjoying it. It wasn't "the best movie ever" or anything but we liked it.

Sam recently rented "Brave" and "Cowgirls and Angels" -- and she liked both of those - although they're "younger" kind of movies....

Oh -- and we watched "October Baby" awhile back -- was heartwrenching at times but good -- and Sam just watched it and liked it too.

If I ever remember the other couple I've tried recently, will post those too -- as a WARNING to "stay away"! LOL...

Cathy - I know what you mean about Bath & Body and not being able to tolerate the smells sometimes! Been there, done that!! The store nearest to me isn't bad for some reason -- although I DID notice the other day when I was there that they had the front door standing open...so maybe that's why I can tolerate being in there!?? I've had to walk out of them before though... Overall I find I can't anything that's too strong or that lasts too long -- if it's something "subtle" and not too "clingy", then I do OK... And I do OK with "minty" smells as well as lavender if it's not too strong. I've had to move soap OUT of our downstairs bath before (since I tend to use it the most) -- just because I couldn't tolerate the smell etc!

HA HA HA -- just NOW reading Cathy's comment about gathering at Terri's TOO!! GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE! Guess it's settled then -- Terri, we'll be on our way next year about this time!!!

Dianne -- I'm with you on the shopping in Dec!! I'm usually done by now too -- but not this year! I need to get my act together! I have SOME things -- but not everything yet... I can't figure out what to get the "kids"... They need LARGE items -- not smaller "stuff"...and haven't come up with ideas yet. Don't want to just buy them "things" -- want it to be "stuff" they NEED or WANT... I'm open to ideas if anyone has them!!!!

Sorry your finger's sore... WAAAHHH...

I have one month to figure out if it was the meds or not, you should always read the disclaimers on meds, some side effects are not worth it.

We will see with the crestor - and its the generic brand .. it did not appear right away but again we will see. I am not taking any tonite and not taking any tylenol....

Yea I know you gotta buy a ticket to win. I buy ONCE in a blue moon only....

slow night and I am tired as well, sure hope tomorrow goes fast, I am already ready for the weekend.

I got some extra exercise in at the Cardio Rehab Centre too today...

Betsy, good thinking on that timing for your old computer----I bet you are looking forward to that new one.
Lindie, LOL---yep, you have to buy a ticket to win it! I am betting that med was affecting your legs---I know mine just ached something awful when I was on the 2 different kinds they tried me on---wondering if that is not part of dh's leg problems.
Water aerobics felt great---and feeling really tired---did not sleep well last night---not sure why---miss my relaxing on the couch as dh falls asleep out here and I am not waking him up---he is an adult! well, supposed to be anyhow---LOL

I've been reading the posts and keeping up, just not commenting.

Saw the cardiologist today, he said to stop taking the statin for 1 month to see if its the statin causing the leg pains in my thighs, its constant and numbs with tylenol. I was concerned about taking a lot of tylenol and only taking 2 a day - he said I would have to take a whole lot more then that to ruin my liver. However, we will see, if its not the statin, we will look for another sourse of the pain..

I prefer buying gift cards, BUT I buy gift cards for places I know peeps shop at, for example, my girls are Seporah girls, so a 50.00 gift certificate for that store makes all girls happy, my sis is a wally world girl so a gift card for wally world works for that, my son always appreciates gas gift cards as gas up here is expensive.

However, if I see something that screams that person name ( like something orange ) I will buy it ...

The little mall around the corner from my place has a tree with tags on it, you pick a tag then buy a gift for that tagged family.. my daughter gets one every year to help out.

SEveral organizations ask for donations to familys and I have donated up to 100.00 to help families ... not this year, the money is just not there .. .

Hope everyone has a great day and Dianne, good fortune with those tickets, or to anyone who has them !! Ours never go up that high and the high ones always go to some old fart, just not me cause I never buy the tickets LOL

Cathy, that must be it, the older we are the more tired we become due to the full moon.

I got GREAT news at pick up time today. Ava is not coming until SIX forty tomorrow :) ! After that I got a phone call with more GREAT news, our computer is ready! The problem now is that we have to be minus our computer to get the data transfer complete :( Quick thinking led me to the best time to take in the tower, Friday afternoon BEFORE we leave for the weekend. We should be able to pick it up on Monday after work.

Dianne, good luck with that Powerball ticket, I will look forward to the meeting spot :)

Time to make our hotel reservations at the place with the comfortable beds, costs a bit more but so VERY worth the $.

Cathy, you could always buy for the needy, I know it isn't the same but it still helps them and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy too!

It is 3:30 in the afternoon and I could go to bed for the night right now. One more day of Ava at 5:40 and then the first arrival SHOULD be at 7 on Friday, HOORAY!

The children have been out of sorts today and part of it is because Jackson is here and that upsets the balance but we also realized there is a full moon tonight. If this is what they are like for the full moon I am really glad none of them will be here for the next one on Dec. 28!

Naptime is over so I need to get the remaining children up. Kathryn is downstairs with two of them. I might fall asleep before I get back here so have a good night everyone.

I think your finger is going to be sensitive for a while---but next time you are in to see a doctor you might ask if it is normal---as long as not red and inflamed, it is probably just nerves not sure what to do---and if firm pressure is not the problem, it will probably wear off. I wish I had more to buy for---I hate buying gift cards and that is what most want---shows no thought---and I wish my sons would put more thought into my gifts---Michael is actually the best one---he actually listens and remembers---sometimes---LOL

He wore the pink underwear--and he also tried some bleach! LOL

I am about done with the shopping. I hate the stores in December--too many people! But I think I am done. Need to wrap and then ship stuff to WI. When I was working full time, I tried to have everything shipped by 11/1--don't manage that any more!

My finger is sore. I don't know if I did something inside or not. A few of the nerves on the outside seem to be hyper sensitive if I bump them but firm pressure doesn't hurt at all. No extreme redness so I figure there is no infection.

Terri--your house must be so fun during holidays! I do wish I lived lots closer to family.

Dianne, did he mind wearing the pink underwear? LOL Great idea on those leftovers from the restaurant. Sounds good. I am in the mood for some pizza----so told dh to order one and pick it up so that I can have it when I get off work---with water aerobics I need to eat early. Figure I also need to get that craving taken care of and then I will be good for a while.

Carol, I was just tempted----but really wanted to punch out the rude father---was tempted to call 911---LOL I don't go into Bath and Body works---just going by there sometimes is too much for me---but those scents sound nice----I do love Christmas scents---it is the florals that get me everytime---had to laugh about the creepy challenges---I try to think of things that all of you can do. Guess I am getting pretty good at that one.
Terri, whew---you wrote a novela---LOL----31 to dinner---you are amazing---and so are those grandkids with their cooking---you sure have taught them right---and will hold them in good stead once they are on their own---everything sounded yummy---did you ever get the sweet potato fluff baked? and cannot believe you had enough leftovers to do sandwiches the next day. Way to use up all the leftovers, too. So, since you have all this space and practice with big groups, I think we all need to plan on a meeting at your place? emoticon
Today's challenge---hum a Christmas tune or 2 while exercising today---could even dance around to some Christmas music like Jingle Bell Rock? LOL Have a great one and enjoy whatever you do!

Gee whiz--where do I start? I didn't take notes so will just make random comments from what I remember, I guess.

Carol and others--please share what movies you are watching and liking (or not) because we are always on the lookout for a nice evening of movie watching. Tonight we're going to watch Remember the Titans w/ Denzel Washington--one of my favorites.

Michelle, that sounds like a fabulous vacation! Wow! Who did you go with?

Men doing laundry? I vote for yes--they clearly need more practice! Around here, Steve does more folding than anything else. I feed the machines regularly but don't always get it folded right away. He's really good at jumping in pretty much anywhere except cooking. He's competent but I try to keep him out of my way if I've got a big meal to do. I'll let him watch the bacon so it doesn't burn, but we don't usually cook together. We don't get cranky with each other very often either and haven't had a fight in ages--but when we do...it's awful. I hate it--and probably wouldn't get any sleep either.

Cathy, Steve and the grands brought up all my bins too, but I had to have them all at once because they aren't marked and I didn't know what was in them. I still haven't gotten to the houses, but we put several strings of lights, 4 kinds of garland and about 100 ornaments on the tree. It looks pretty good considering how many children were involved in dressing it up.

Dianne and Betsy, I'm so proud of you two! You're really rockin' that challenge and you'll be at your goals before you know it!

Lindie, I have a son that I'd sometimes like to knock in the head. He acts just like my dad and I could just shake him. I just tell him there's a reason that my parents divorced and it wasn't because my father was so easy to get along with. I tell him, "don't act like MY father--act like YOURS!" I think his passport's still valid. Maybe I'll send him to you~

Husbands and night shift...there's something I know a lot about. Working for the highway dept. meant lots of night shifts during the winter storms. Some of you will remember that I stayed up all night for the first few nights, until I could get used to sleeping in an empty bed. When I would shush the kids to keep them quiet, it would wake him up. He said he never heard the kids, but heard me shushing them every time. Go figure~

Anne, our master suite is on the main floor of our log house. There are 4 bedrooms, a common room (like a living room where they could gather outside their bedrooms) and a bathroom upstairs. We have a door at the top of the stairs that we keep closed so we don't have to heat it when no one is sleeping up there. We wanted all of our essential living space to be on the main floor so we wouldn't have to climb the stairs when we're old. Cathy, I think it's ridiculous to have the only bathroom upstairs like you described that one house! How inconvenient! I would think that having the Master bedroom on the main floor would be a selling point.

I'll try to catch up with more later. It's already taken me hours to finally get this far. I posted a short blog with photos of our Christmas tree trek if anyone is interested. Goodnight~

Whew! I finally caught up with you guys! emoticon I've been getting a lot of knitting done while reading all the posts...knit a row, read a post, knit a row, read a post... I've nearly finished a pair of socks!

We had 31 for Thanksgiving dinner, but I had lots of help and I'm quite comfortable bossing people around in my kitchen so I didn't have to carry the whole burden. On Wednesday, I had 4 dgds here to help bake pies and clean house. I had 2 gd doing the windows, one vacuuming the floors and one stripping the beds for possible overnight guests. (I wasn't sure who'd be sleeping over) Once we got that part done, I quick-mopped the floors...my grandma would've called it "a lick and a promise"...just to make it more presentable, knowing that I'd have to do it again the next morning, before everyone arrived. MaryBeth made the pie crusts for all the pies and Katherin cooked the custard for Steve's requested banana cream (from scratch--not a mix), mixed up the filling for 3 pumpkin pies, and an apple pie. MaryBeth cooked up chocolate pudding for a choc. cream pie (also from scratch); Anna picked the meat off the turkey necks I'd cooked on Tuesday and mixed up a batch of traditional bread stuffing and put it in a ziplock bag in the fridge. Katherin peeled and smashed the baked sweet potatoes for my "puff" and put them in the fridge.

On Thursday, we got most of our casserole dishes put together early (I forgot my sweet potato puff, though) and filled the oven to capacity. The turkey was cooked on a rotisserie by my SIL, DD1 did 20# of mashed potatoes, Anna had made the traditional stuffing on Wed. but DD3 put together a new stuffing recipe with sausage and cranberries that I wanted to try on Thurs. morning. DD2 brought a green salad and some spinach-artichoke dip to bake for an appetizer; DH's Aunt Donna made parkerhouse rolls from her mother's recipe; I cooked a ham to make sure we had enough meat for everyone (we did!); my mother brought a couple of recipes for desserts and some appetizers (not that we needed them!)--so even with two ovens in my kitchen, we didn't have enough room! I had a bag of rather pitiful-looking apples left from my canning marathon and had dgd Lily peel them and I cooked them on the wood stove to go with the ham. I love freshly-made applesauce with pork and it was a big hit with the family too.

We put both leaves in the dining room table for the adults and had two folding tables set up in the living room for the grands and nieces + 3 little ones sitting at the coffee table.

After dinner and dessert, we put in a video (The Lorax) for the kids and the adults played a rousing game of Catch Phrase. Everyone helped clean up (several times) and wash dishes, sweep floors, and put away the folding tables and chairs before leaving and then Steve, Mom and I had the house to ourselves by about 8:30 pm. My body ached by that time and I took a couple of ibuprofen--I'm sure it was from being on my feet ALL day. We decided it was too early to go to bed, so we played a game of cards--but Steve and I could barely keep our eyes open to finish it! My hot shower and warm bed sure felt GOOD that night! emoticon

On Friday, everyone gathered at the house again and we packed up a bunch of turkey and ham sandwiches, some fruit, string cheese, baby carrots and thermoses of hot chocolate and coffee and went out to hunt for Christmas trees. We made a few stops at places that looked good, but found nothing. We kept seeing people driving down the mountain with nice-looking trees, so we knew we were headed in the right direction. We finally ran into someone we knew and he told us about where they had found theirs. He said, "You'll probably see our little campfire smoldering," and sure enough, we did! We stoked up that little fire again while the kids ran around and climbed on rocks and the men hit the hills looking for nice trees. We had permits to cut four. emoticon Cathy asked a while ago about needing a permit and it's because it's in the national forest. We get our permits from the local USFS office for either firewood, Christmas trees, or even poles if we need them. We didn't get home until after dark so we just polished off the last of the leftovers and made a huge dent in the desserts. emoticon I was sure glad to see all that pie disappear!

I put the turkey carcass in the pot to make soup on Friday night, picked the bones on Saturday, and taught MaryBeth how to make homemade noodles on Sunday afternoon. We had turkey-noodle soup while we decorated the tree. It was a big pot but Steve & I and 4 grands all ate, then Jenny & dSIL came by to pick up their kids and had some, then DS2 came to pick up Blaine (who had stayed with me since Friday night), and he had some and took some home. Rosie got the last bowl because we were stuffed, but the next day I regretted giving it to her~ Oh well, I guess I had enough.

This afternoon, I made navy beans and ham from the ham bone--so now we are officially OUT of leftovers! emoticon emoticon I'll have to start planning meals again now.

*think I'll split this up before I write a book

Anne - what's Tastefully Simple??

YAY for Fr. Schmidt being impressed with your cleaning (was there ANY doubt it was GOOD??!) -- and asking you to do it on a regular basis!!!! emoticon

Cathy -- PLEASE don't "smack a few kids around" -- even if they ARE "pain in the patooties", OK?!!! LOL... We don't want you to lose your job.... Even though THEY are the ones that OUGHT to get "ousted" from the sounds of things!!

Oh Anne -- did we KNOW you were going to have a GIRL grandbaby before this??!! Not sure I was aware of that!! I remember the US pics etc -- but not knowing the boy/girl part.... When's the baby due, by the way?? Can't remember that either....

And Cathy -- I think you said it ALL when you said " Men just do not think"!!!!!!! I think you ought to embroider that on a pillow or something!!!! You could probably get RICH selling items that have that saying on them!!!!!! You DEFINITELY hit the nail on the head!

OK -- your challenges are starting to get a little CREEPY Cathy!! Or at least the timing of them...!! I LITERALLY just listened to Christmas music on my car radio yesterday!! It's like you read my mind or something! Same thing happened a couple of times recently with your previous "challenges"!!!

Betsy -- glad DD1 picked out the mattress that she likes -- and that you were still able to get a good deal!!

Sorry don't know about Chaps luggage... ALTHOUGH did you know that you can return ANYTHING to Kohl's if you're not happy with it??! Even after using/wearing it??! I had NOT idea they had such a great return policy -- like Costco's!!! Learned that not too long ago -- at least it's true at the Kohl's near us -- would assume that's true for ANY Kohl's store...

Sorry to hear that Steven isn't getting well.... Hopefully that changes soon! Could he have a sinus infection or something?? Usually that's what happens -- people will seem to be "getting better" then start to go downhill again -- usually means SOME type of secondary infection....

Dianne -- hope you get another good night's rest tonight so you feel COMPLETELY rested tomorrow! And glad you taught INSIDE -- even though the farmhouse was cold when you got there!! Better than being outside from the sounds of it!

Do you guys ever use the special Christmas products from Bath & Body??! I always look forward to those "special" scents... I "splurged" the other day and got some -- I LOVE the "Fresh Sparkling Snow" one -- very subtle so my asthma tolerates it. Am also trying their "moisturizing soap" -- not sure I like that part of it yet -- but my hands get SO bad during the winter as far as being dry -- so thought that I'd try that type of their soap....

I also got the "Candy Cane Bliss" scented soap and "Holly Berry Wreath" too - but haven't used them yet... I just like having that special "treat" around the holidays...

OK -- need to finish this -- I KEEP getting pulled away!! All of a sudden had two people call and two people texting -- as SOON as I started Sparking!! Hmmm....

Hope everyone has a good night! Won't be on til late again tomorrow probably -- have a luncheon then a doctor's appt and want to do a few errands before I have to be at the office by 9:30 so...will "talk" to you later! emoticon

A good reason why not to let dh's do laundry---esp. anything white or light colored! LOL And I never want him to touch my clothes! Sorry about your friends' losses----hard around a holiday---we lost dh's mom at Thanksgiving and my grandmother on Easter Sunday---I just do not enjoy Easter anymore---and I use to love it. And I agree---I think all businesses should be shut down til midnight on Thanksgiving---if they want to open then, at least the employees can have off til at least 8. Andy and Shari both work Christmas day this year---Have no idea how we can fit them in on Christmas eve---dh will have to work and Taylar's family does Christmas Eve---and right now that is okay as I don't think they want to be around them---will make arrangements for Taylar to come see Reagann on one of the days I have her after Christmas---then it will be special for them both. Definitely would look into a white noise machine for your dh, Carol---there are a lot more noises during the day than at night.
Tired so think I am heading to bed---houses are kind of set up---not sure if I am happy with set up but I have several days to tweak it as Michael goes to DC for work tomorrow---think some kind of training or something special with Yamaha sound equipment---they are exclusive dealers of that here in the area.

Carol--my hubby once washed a brand new RED top with the whites!! I had set it in that basket cause I needed to hand wash it and would see it there. Instead, I had a ruined top and HE had pink underwear and I did NOTHING to fix the underwear issue. I was so mad--told him he did that JUST so he wouldn't have to help any more! He does no laundry....

I hope your Bill is sleeping better--those hours would be nasty--but a job is a job!

Nice to hear from you, Carol and glad Luke got back to NYC okay. We try to always allow a day for weather issues--and today was a "weather issue" in NJ--wet snow, cold rain--just nasty weather.

Hubby took me out for supper tonight--went to the diner--which does seem to be a NJ "thing". We ordered the blue plate specials--he got lentil soup, salad, baked potato, green beans and a platter sized "chopped steak" smothered in onions and mushrooms. I had the same soup, salad, potato, zucchini instead of green beans and 2 GIANT pork chops with peppers and onions. Got a go box immediately for one and a quarter pork chops--and the roasted potato pieces that surrounded it. Hubby put 1/2 his chopped steak into another box. We'll eat his leftovers tomorrow and mine will go in the freezer for a stir fry this weekend. So--we had tonight's meal and will get 2 more meals from the leftovers (I'll need to add sides but still!). And the bill was under $30 with a nice tip! Feed us 3 meals for $30--not too bad.

I'm sore today--I think the bent rows yesterday finally used those muscles -- and they are letting me know! Hit the gym in the AM and see how I am after that--I may do some extra stretching!

DD2 got the box of cookies from our church--her comment was "wow". Her vegan friend can't share much--cookies use eggs. But DD will share with her coworkers, I'm sure! DD3 hasn't checked her mail box to see if her package arrived yet.

Anne - you asked if we have DH do their own laundry etc... No -- I generally handle the laundry at our house...BUT he WILL throw some in here and there... BUT today is a GREAT example of why I'd prefer he NOT... DH had put a small load of whites in earlier today... When I went to move it over to the dryer, I found he had left a PINK post it note in his lab coat pocket...and YES it had "bled" ALL over the place!!!! I think he's ruined his lab coat... I'm trying -- as I write this actually -- to see if I can soak it out - but I'm not too hopeful...!! So while I appreciate the "effort" I'd rather he keep his hands OFF the laundry!! LOL....

And no offense to anyone that likes Martha Stewart but personally I do NOT "get" how she's SO popular and successful when she's a criminal!!! Baffles my mind! It's bizarre to me that some people can do illegal things, go to jail/prison, come out and just move on like nothing EVER happened! Most "normal" people that's not the case...but so many celebrities are able to do that... It's just like these football players that makes millions -- do terrible things with them (like Michael Vick) -- then come out of jail -- only to be paid millions AGAIN!!! HOW can that BE??! Just not fair when you have so many "good" people striving and working hard ALL of their lives who will never be able to EARN a fraction of that kind of money!??!

And a second "no offense" but Betsy -- I do NOT want your mint chocolate chip cookie recipe!!! LOL... For OBVIOUS reasons! I do NOT need stuff like THAT in MY house either!!

I think "Gray Thursday" is NEW...?? Or isn't it?? I hadn't been aware of that either -- never heard of it til this year... All of a sudden I started learning of stores that were going to open ON Thanksgiving yet!!?!! I don't like it either... As a person that used to be required to work holidays in a hospital -- where it's NEEDED -- I DEFINITELY do NOT agree with businesses that do not NEED to be open being open and requiring -- or even asking -- employees to be there!!! There are SO few days during the year that are true "holidays" -- I don't think businesses should be open if at all possible...

And I think it's TOTALLY rude that Carolyn got "stuck" at the table with cousins that she BARELY knows -- and is so much older than! I agree with "mixing generations"! ESPECIALLY with how old Carolyn IS -- she IS an "adult" now and deserves that respect! Even at my brother's wedding -- the "kids" that got isolated were ALL over 18!! I mean, the youngest one there was Luke -- and he was 18 1/2!! He was NOT a "kid" -- but I think that isolating them that way made them FEEL like they were being treated like "kids" -- and not respected... As WELL as the fact that they were FAMILY! But -- I won't carry on AGAIN about all that! Just know I am 100% behind you with not liking what happened with the split tables for you guys! As WELL as not being able to see her and spend time with her during the meal yourselves!!! UGH...

Well - I'm not SURE where yesterday WENT -- but missed doing ANY Spark all together!! OOPS!

Dianne - sorry to hear about the 'tiff" with DH... HATE that kind of stuff! I agree with whomever said it was probably about something TOTALLY different -- like missing his parents or the girls... Bill and I rarely fight -- but when we do I can't stand it...and I almost physically feel ill...! AND I do NOT sleep well AT ALL usually!! And of course it bugs me even more because usually HE can sleep like a BABY -- regardless! GRR....!!! Figure if I'm "suffering", SO should HE, right??!! LOL....

Anyway -- hope things are "all better" now....!!

Cathy -- as for trying to be quiet when DH is sleeping.... He insists I don't need to be -- BUT the other day I noticed EVERY time I did anything that made noise -- like talk on the phone (had "business" kinds of calls to make -- like the insurance etc), then I'd hear him get up upstairs... Then when I'd be "quiet" I wouldn't hear ANY movement upstairs -- then the minute I'd start doing something again, I'd here him up again etc. SO regardless of what he SAYS I KNOW it disturbs him... I used to work nights -- and I KNOW how hard it is to sleep during the day alot of times -- especially if there's noise going on (I used to have a VERY inconsiderate roommate in those days)....

Hopefully I will figure it out the more DH and I get into a "routine" -- and maybe he'll get alot better at sleeping during the day... Part of the "issue" in my opinion is that he has to work from 9p-8a -- and for SEVEN days in a row! He NEEDS his REST!!!!

LOL Lindie about your daughter and her being "real cheap"!! I ALREADY have one of those -- so NO THANKS!! Cathy had a good point though -- maybe you guys could TRADE??!! Even though Shari isn't technically Cathy's to "give away"! LOL....

emoticon to Terri!

Sorry Lindie and Cathy about your Spark friend who passed away! What IS it lately??! We just had one nurse I work with have her brother die right before Thanksgiving and now just found out another nurse I work with had her mother die last week too!!!! WOW...

Which reminds me -- they've called in Hospice on my mother-in-law...

Thanks, Anne, for the reminder of the AMEX and anything we pay "automatically" with it! We DO have our Verizon automatically billed to that card... We used to have ALOT of our bills go onto our credit card -- just to get points (we pay it off every month so wasn't worried about added interest or anything but wanted the "credit" for other things)... BUT I stopped doing that for the most part when we kept having issues with the "main" Mastercard we used to use... They kept shutting it down for supposed fradulent activity (which never actually happened on THAT card!) -- but EVERY time they'd do that, I'd have to go through and change a MILLION "auto pay" accounts!! SO I ended up shifting most stuff to just come out of our checking automatically every month -- wasn't worth the few extra "points" we'd get on the MC or AMEX... Although I DID switch the Verizon to the AMEX since it's one of our larger bills... Took care of changing that number today though as SOON as my new card arrived!!

I DO have to say, American Express does things RIGHT -- VERY classy in my opinion! They UPS overnighted the new card to us - although due to the weekend, it took longer than "overnight" but still...it was a "quick turnaround" AND a "safe" way to send the new card!!! Vs. the last time our MC had to be replaced -- they shipped FOUR cards (I have one for each of the kids) -- to us in the REGULAR mail WITHOUT our knowledge!!!! SO if they hadn't ever shown up, I NEVER would have known -- I guess until our other cards stopped working!! The difference in the companies is amazing! Even my DH commented about it!

Dianne, you must have a really big dining room for that table to fit in it at your parents---don't even think they make tables that big anymore---unless you are rich and have it made. Where do they store the chairs? Glad you got to work inside today.
Betsy, that is something you could do---take a child's hand and trace it---then have dd cut out a bunch of them and make a wreath with them---I have done that at school--you can also use handprints to make a cute paper tree---either one could be framed as a keepsake.
We went to buy a suit but the men who do the fittings were off tonight---bummer---they are really good and prefer them as I know they know what they are doing. And the sale price was a bit higher---so maybe we will wait to see what next week's prices are..

Betsy--we had a REALLY long dining room table growing up--there were at least 5 leaves and we had 20 people around it at one time. My folks still have that table--and they have enough chairs to do that. And the craft that I am making with a kindergarten friend is a handprint wreathe on a white felt--we'll get the little sister involved, too--that should be fun.

I taught farmhouse today--it was low 50s in the farmhouse this AM so I was quick to get the fire going to heat the kitchen. Took lots of work to get the butter made--it was too cold. Rainy, sleet--just not nice. The people in the science class HAD to be out--we had a lot of umbrellas and they got used. I am SO GLAD I wasn't teaching that class today.

I was so tired last night--I went to bed at 9:15--didn't even stay up to watch "Mike and Molly"--I do enjoy that show. (By the way Betsy--you are a SAINT to take Ava at 5:40--you should charge extra if outside of 8 to 6--they do out here if you can even find a place that will start before 7 AM--and you pay extra for anything over 8.5 hours.) I never even heard hubby come to bed--and still felt tired this AM. (Yes, I am taking my vitamins!) But I did better as the day went on.

Hope you are all fine. Terri--missed your life happenings! Betsy is doing her part to cover for you! Carol--hope Sam does raise her rates--my sister pays lots for the trainer for the 4.5 year old (and she has placed -- she posts very well.). Cathy--I do hope you get some craft time--and I enjoyed the snuggles with Julia and will likely get another turn! She just had her first ear infection/antibiotic on Fri of Thanksgiving so not quite all better.

Betsy, that sounds like a nice day with the musical background---and yes, hard to do with kids that young---wish I had Reagann more this month as I would do some crafts with her---but will definitely bake some cookies with her. I don't 'have much experience with luggage for traveling overseas so can't be of any help there. Glad you got that mattress on a special buy.

Dianne, did the baby have an ear infection? Poor little sweetheart. How big was your BIG table? We had 15 people ( supposed to be 16 but no Steven) and the youngest was a senior in HS so they are all adults too. If we have to be split I would just prefer that it not be done generationally so there was a better mix at each table. There is a reason I don't know my nephews/nieces on that side very well. Our dd1 was the "odd one out" as I said because she really belonged with us so she didn't feel like a teacher sitting with her students. She said it would have been better if her brother were there but he just wasn't well enough. He seemed to be getting a tad better but yesterday appeared worse again. He needs to get better so he can donate plasma or he is not going to have enough $ for his school loan on the 8th.

Unfortunately many children are not learning respect BEFORE kindergarten because there parents allow them to run the household and don't teach it. I am LUCKY to have children whose parents DO teach respect but there have been a few over the years that have not been so wonderful.

Dianne, I would imagine dd3 is feeling swamped because of end of term projects and finals looming. It is great that you will get TWO of your daughters home for Christmas and it will be all the more special since they were not there for Thanksgiving. Speaking of finals, I need to find out when we can register dd2 for school next semester so I am going to do that before I forget.

Yes Cathy, we do Christmas crafts for the parents but it was more fun when I had some older children here. Right now my oldest is 2 1/2 but she loves art projects when we do them. Today she wanted to draw with chalk on our chalkboard easel but there was no chalk in the tray so I told her to color at the table instead. Luckily I was watching closely because she was going to use the crayons on the chalkboard! I haven't figured out what our Christmas gift for the parents will be yet but it usually incorporates their handprints or footprints somehow.

The RIGHT kind of music does soothe the savage beast but the wrong kind can create a savage beast! There are times when I do not appreciate what my son is listening to at all and we are constantly telling our dancing daughter to turn her music down. I ALWAYS start the day care day in the basement with something like classical Christmas piano music, a Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack or a relaxation type CD. If I don't get to it immediately they wil ask for it :)

DD1 did indulge us with trying out mattresses and she picked a different one than we had so I am glad she did. We were able to order it with 10 % down and put the rest on 0% interest for 6 months. I intend to pay for it as soon as we get it because the hold will be off our inheritance check by then. It was nice to have the option of the 0% because that allowed us to take advantage of the sale. Had we gone on Black Friday morning and been one of the first 50 familiues we would have gotten a free Snuggie, drat! I am just kidding, I don't need one of those things and I don't shop on Black Friday morning.

Cathy, I have listened to 4 Cds with the children already and will probably listen to at least 4 more before the day is over. I am anxious to see their reaction to my Alvin and the Chipmunks music.

Jay and I bought Ricardo brand suitcases for ourselves but we still need more luggage for 2/3 of our brood. Carolyn loves her Ricardo and it has proven durable but Kohl's has a great sale on Chap's brand today. I love Chap's clothing line but have not seen/tried the luggage, have any of you had any experience with it?

Anne, good for you---enjoy those tunes at work
Betsy, I just imagine you walking with all the kids following behind you. Do you do Christmas crafts with the kids for their parents? I would have so much fun with that kind of stuff.
I actually have Christmas music playing on the computer here in the DRR room---at least it keeps me cheerful--- maybe I should have used that tactic last night in SAP.---doesn't music soothe the savage beast? LOL

Cathy, my "car" for work comes in the form of my legs! I assure you we listen to Christmas CDs all day long except when it is dance or lullaby time, we have specific music for those two things.

Ava is alreaady here and I just heard Sophie's car so it is off to work I go. Heigh Ho Heigh HO.......

Good morning!

I have my itunes Christmas list set up....will play at work.

Class was okay. Actually, it just a quick intro, so only a little brain power needed. Did get that coffee...and it didn't mess w/my sleep pattern. Funny last night was probably one of the best sleep I've had in a while. Fell asleep around 11:30 and woke a little before 6. It was 6:03 when I eventually looked at the clock.

Off to work in a few. Have a good day!

Anne

Hope everyone has a good day today.---today's challenge---put your car radio to a station playing Christmas music or put in a Christmas CD in your car---and when you are home, make sure you play some Christmas music---a sure thing to bring on some good vibes.

Dianne, bet you had lots of fun. Did you give her cuddles from all of us?
Anne, you do, too----I am sure you will be fine at the class---although I find most video classes awfully boring---don't like doing studies that way---but find people don't want to put the efforts into teaching things themselves like in the past. But that is a personal preference---probably comes from loving my teachers at college---even the boring ones were better than a video.
Came home to a mess---dh thought he would just bring all the bins upstairs for my houses---man, I did not need to come home to that----and I only let MIchael bring up 3 or 4 at the most so that I don't feel overwhelmed---if dh thinks they are putting up the tree tomorrow, don't know how he will do that with all these bins in the way---and right now my back and hip feel pretty good from the water aerobics and I am not going to set them off doing more of the bins tonight---I did unpack 3 of them before I left--but I was so grouchy about it that it kind of spoilt my fun doing them. Men just do not think---I am not the neatest housekeeper but I had the house pretty clean and uncluttered and now feel overwhelmed again----plus I need to do laundry, too---figure need clean clothes more than the houses need to be unpacked.

Babies are so much fun; glad you enjoyed the little one! It would be so wonderful if my house sold and I could be closer to my grandson and, soon to enter this world, granddaughter.

Dianne, the parents can't see it! The parents are part of the reason the kids are disrespectful. Spare the rod, spoil the child and you get full fledged brats!!!

Worked on my card list. Updated addresses that I know have changed since last Christmas. I did not notate who sent cards last year...wonder if I have that in with my Christmas things. Doesn't really matter, I will probably send to everyone I sent to last year. Hope there isn't anyone that sent one to me last year that is not on my list. Using last year's list, I'm sending out about 50 cards. Will continue to work on this tomorrow...maybe get the letter done.

Just about finished here at work...came online to see if I got a response to an email I sent last Wednesday for my boss. Boo! No response yet! Going to the 1st class on Fr. Robert Barron's DVD/Workbook seminar, "Catholicism: It's YOUR story". I'm hoping it doesn't require a lot of brain power...cuz right now, I don't know if there's a brain functioning inside my head! Thinking about getting a cup of coffee to keep me awake, but am concerned that it won't work until midnight tonight! Glad the class starts at 7 and not 7:30!

Hope everyone has a good night!

I really enjoyed the baby--even when her tylenol wore off and her ears started to bother again. We "bounced" and that kept her happy enough. We sang to each other--she sits up very well and is thinking about moving but not sure yet what to do.

We were always blessed to have a BIG table so never split into tables. I don't think I'd like that. My kids are all adults now so I'd push for them to be at the adult table! (DD3 is feeling swamped back at school--hoping she'll settle into a groove soon! DD2 and 3 come home on 12/20!)

Cathy--I can't stand kids that are not respectful in school. Kick them out--let parents see how they are NOT behaving!

Dianne, you enjoy every minute with that baby---lots of cuddles for him/her.
Anne, guess Martha is offering them some good incentives to have her stuff there---find her stuff a little too expensive---some stuff I like but most I could definitely do without. Great that you got that extra side work---every little bit helps, I am sure. And that slop actually sounds good. Guys will have chili leftovers tonight but I am going to finish off the little bit of turkey and stuffing I left out for me.
Betsy, the kids are probably all off schedule with the holiday weekend---probably take you all week to get it re-established. I try to mix our split tables but then we only have the one little one as the rest are all adults now---this year not a problem since it was just the 6 of us---plenty of room for everyone with the leaf in.
Can I just smack a few kids around? pain in the patooties here with me now. Threw one of them out earlier---had to get an administrator.

Anne--glad you got the cleaning gig. I'd love to hire you too--but the commute is a bit far! While I was working, we did have someone come in 2 days a week--then I cut back hours so she came one day a week. Then she retired--or I'd still have her! She was wonderful!!

I have ALL my water done--I did 20 minutes on the elliptical this AM and then the hour class and did 5 cups of water right there. I need to get back to running cause my "wind" isn't there anymore but that won't happen till Jan. And I HAVE to do it then so I can ski again.

I do NOT like Thanksgiving shopping--give EVERYONE the day off!! Yes, some grocery stores were open till 3, etc but that is for emergencies!

I am enjoying my getting ready for baby--I may never end up with grandchildren but at least I can play with someone!

Betsy, glad you got an extended break. You go, girl, with all the water drinking so early in the day. I find it is better for me if I do it early for 2 reasons...it gets done & then some and 2 not up all night due to bladder! I agree with you...boooooo! to the idea of shopping on Thanksgiving and the middle of the night. I would like the stores to go back opening at 9:00 AM on Black Friday...let the families enjoy their Thanksgiving without the stress of making sure they get enough rest to be able to get to work at those crazy hours the stores open (some 8 PM Thanksgiving night, others at midnight, others at 5 AM on Friday). Dang greedy so and so's!

Just got my Tastefully Simple order. The box was so heavy, I was shocked. I forgot that I ordered more than just the Garlic Garlic seasoning that I love. I got their Bountiful Beer Bread and Perfectly Potato Cheddar Soup Mix. I think I'll make that for dinner tomorrow night. Still have turkey leftover...going to make slop (turkey with cream of chicken soup, some milk, and corn) with it and serve it over mashed potatoes.

Just spent the last 2.5 or so hours balancing the checking accounts, paying bills, and trying to reach the health insurance people. Now I am going to go through my Christmas card list now. Ooof! My brain hurts!

Oh, I forgot to mention, Fr. Bill Schmidt asked me today if I would come in and clean on a once/week basis until they know what will happen with Josephine, the housekeeper. He told me he was very pleased with the work I did. This is good...it will give us a bit of extra income...not much, but everything helps!

Have a great afternoon!

Anne

Kathryn just took Ava downstairs so I get a bit longer break :)

Carol, I have lots of notes for your multiple posts. I had not heard of the term, "Gray Thursday" and I must say I am completely opposed to shopping onThanksgiving day,it is NUTS!
It is great that Luke reserved some time for you and that you felt it was real quality time. We got that with Carolyn when we played Dominoes, shopped and went out to lunch. It is always great to go to church with her as well. Sorry Luke had to leave early but how wonderful is it that he puts his studying AHEAD of vacation. The airlines were probably much less congested on Saturday as well. It is also great that you were able to send leftovers with Sam, I wish we had some other than pie here. We are tired of looking at the pies so I will probably wind up throwing some out, esp. the apple blackberry. I also skipped dessert at the big Thanksgiving feast because of feeling too full of healthy food. That said, I do admit to indulging on other desserts such as cookies, frozen yogurt and chocolate dipped pretzels over the next few days but that is OVER now ( at least until I break for Christmas ;)

Carol, thanks for joining me in hating split tables. I understnd they don't have a table for 15 but why not mix up the generations at both tables? It really bothers me that our eldest spent three hours driving to spend Thanksgiving with us and we don't even get to share the meal with her! Also, she is a full time employee so she should not be seated at a "kids table." My bil will be off probation at the USPS ( 1 FULL year for part time workers) in March and then he gets a little more say in his vacations so we are hoping their family can come here next Thanksgiving. We all eat together and play games so it is more fun. Don't get me wrong, I DO appreciate all that my bil/sil do to host holidays at their home, it just isn't always our style, if that makes sense.
It is funny to hear you tell Anne she's not getting enough sleep because I can remember MANY times when you have posted very similar hours ;) !

Carol, prayers for Sam are always there for the asking. I am glad her kids did well at the horse show and that she did not freeze.
I see your Redbox movies were not to your liking but could you share with us what they were and why you din't like them? You could spae us the grief of trying them ourselves, thanks.

Thank goodness your credit card caught those purchases that were not yours! What a headache that could have been! Unfortunately identity theft is getting easier and computer hacking, spyware cameras taking a photo of the card and making a carbon are just a few ways people are getting away with this.

Back to the horse topic, I agree with Cathy on the fees. Sam got them to place so now she has proven herself worthy of earning a fee. It is sweet that she wants to help but in the end that backfires on her, a vicious cycle. The other trainers may not be quite as arrogant if they know she is charging as well. I do get what you are saying about the horse world being expensive and snooty and that is the main reason why Kathryn stopped going as well as the ridiculous amounts of time it took up. Nobody seemed to understand that she just wanted to ride and did not NEED to show or OWN her own horse at age 7 or 8!

Cathy, we have a small zoo about an hour's drive from here that has an excellent drive through display set to music. The news last night reported they have 50 songs now thanks to a computer class in the area. Before I even saw your post I was mentioning to DH that we should try to get there this year. It is also for a worthy cause, the entrance fee is $ OR non perishable good(s) for the local food pantry. If the weather holds out we will go and if we have time we may even visit the hospital where Kathryn was born. They love to hear how their "graduates" from the NICU are doing.

My dd1 teaches in an area that should get more government assistance but the few extremely wealthy people that live there upset the balance so they don't. Teachers are OFTEN asked to spare what they can so their students can have at least one meal for the day. We have "Coats for Kids" here but the need is far greater there so I sent a trash bag full of jackets and other winter gear back with her yesterday. I WANTED to do it but I am also trying VERY HARD to show dd2 that we DO volunteer/donate all year long NOT just at the holidays. She was mad that we didn't help out at the Veterans holiday meal this year but she wouldn't have been able to go anyway. ( She was at her boyfiriend's house.)

Speaking of volunteering, I took Megan to the final Twilight movie yesterday and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The story kept your attention and the movie went by quickly. We did have a discussion about what immortal means and she doesn't quite have it but I let it slide. She has shown maturity in participating more in a conversation and actually telling me what she would like to do but adding only if I want to. She MAY even come over and help us decorate in two weeks! Next weekend we are renting another van and going back to Hudson with the rest of dd1's furniture and dd1 is very excited because that means we can see her school play, a radio version of ,"It's a Wonderful Life." Kathryn gets to come along this time so we don't have to worry about unsupervised bf/gf stuff. Jay is really excited about going back to Mama Maria's, the restaurant we dined at last time.

That is IT for my notes. All I want to add is that I had to laugh when I read Dianne's comment on how cold it was "for here." She said it was in the thirties and I think it isn't bad HERE at all because there is no wind and it is in the TEENS! Only someone who lived in WI knows there is a different sort of cold here. lol

Time for glass # 4 of water and some PT exercises before I go join Kathryn in the basement.
Have a great day everyone!

I think the children are worn out from their colds/vacation as this is proving to be a strangely patterned day. Ava slept for 3 hours and is now having breakfst with Kathryn, Sophie is taking her morning nap and Cashton also insisted on going to bed. He normally does not go down until after lunch!

Cathy, great minds think alike, I also had a clementine for a morning snack with my third glass of water for the day.

Anne, I have no idea why Martha Stewart is all over now but I am guessing her exclusive contract with K-Mart expired. I never thought you were a total Scrooge but I am glad you are felling at least a bit of holiday spirit!

Dianne, no junk food this week should be an easy challenge for you, I never saw that as a downfall for you. CONGRATULATIONS on being three pounds from your FINAL goal, that is TERRIFIC! WOO HOO!!!!

Cathy, as far as the texting at the table goes for the young adults, I asked and they were not doing it. They are just an odd assortment of people who probably would have felt more comfortable blended in with their own families. Oh well, we survived.
My mint chocolate chip cookies ARE yoummy, TOO yummy. If I EVER report I made mint chocolate ANYTHING,please respond with a message asking who I am making it for to remind me I absolutely CANNOT have that in the house!
Our mall used to be a walking mall jokingly named the "hall," since there were no stores left but a beauty salon and one anchor store that now stands on it's own. The center of the mall has been torn down and the streets behind and in front are now connected for traffic. One end is being remodeled and dd2's school will move there next fall. I will have to go back to the treadmill at the gym or walk around Wal-Mart if I need a warm dry walking spot.

I agree that baby toys are a good thing to keep as long as you are CERTAIN there are no recalls,BPA or questionable paint on them. Things have changed a lot since toys started being produced mostly in China.Dianne, I bet the mother of that toy will bring baby toys in a diaper bag too, especially teethers.

More later....

Can someone tell me why Martha Stewart is the "say all, do all" for the stores like Staples, Lowes, Kmart, Macy's and probably more that I'm not aware of. I know Kmart has hosted Martha for a while, but now Lowe's and Staples. I just don't get it.

Dianne, you still have baby toys for the future when you are a grandmom---that is alright to keep---and you never know when you will get the special occasion to use them like today. Hope your little talk goes well---like I said, he was probably a little depressed---those moments do hit people at strange times and they tend to take it out on the ones closest to them---not fair to us but understandable.
Betsy, see you snuck in again---LOL
Just had a mid-morning snack---a clementine---yummy!

Betsy--posted at the same time!! I was in 4H as a kid so learned to do public speaking AND we did dramas so I also learned to speak slowly. That is what people really like--they have time to hear EACH word!

I have to package the turkey--I was tired on Sat so it just got into the fridge. That is on today's list. I really did appreciate that sale!

One young man lives at home so got his cookie box at church yesterday. He was SO excited! We did pray over the boxes before we sent them out--I know my girls will be thrilled to get them and to share with their friends. (I didn't even sneak a crumb!)

Hubby and I need to have a good talk tonight over dinner. That will help things the most--neither of us slept too well last night, I know.

Betsy--I went to bed on the game--too upsetting to watch. Don't they know I have to deal with Giants fans all the time!! Arg!!

Cold out here--for us! It is in the low 30s and supposed to rain/snow tomorrow. Our kids have not had one 5 day week of school yet this year! Between the Jewish holidays, the state holidays, the superstorm, the federal holidays--this will be the first week of 5 days all year.

I am going to the gym this AM--need to run/do some cardio and then take a class. I get to babysit a 6month old at 4 while her mom goes to choose the photos at Sears! I found some toys (no comments on why I still have baby toys when my baby is 19) and cleaned them up for her.

I will get stamps today and dig out cards! Thanks for the push. Decorations will be sparse this year--no girls home till 12/20 and I won't do as much as I used to.

Dianne, what happened to our Packers? 38 10 is awful! Thank goodness my dh chose to go to bed.
I still can't believe the sale on meats at your grocery store, how lucky for you to be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of that. I'm sure the cpllege students will Love the boxes, especially the home baked cookies. Our new sister church does goodie bags but I don't think they include anything home made. We are still learning their customs but I would love to help assemble/deliver them if I could. My thought is tht they do that during my business hours so the best I can do is donate needed items.
Good for you on making soup out of that turkey and using it up completely, I bet it was delicious.
I see your dd3 and Carol's Luke arrived back safely and I'm pleased to report dd1 also did :)

Dianne.good for you on the reading compliments. I bet you FELT good in that sweater dress and that made you a more confident reader. You deserved some praise after all your hard work dieting, exercising and I am sure practicing your reading. Sleepless nights are no fun, especially when they are over something that could have been so easily avoided. Tell DH you will BOTH feel better if he simply does what you asked within 15 minutes nxt time. It's so strange what makes men mad sometimes, isn't it?

Everyone is here now so I must go but I will be back later, I promise.

Cathy, the realtor has said things to dh, but he is barely budging. The sectional is a three piece. If I take out the corner and just have the 2 other pieces connected it makes 1 long couch. I may suggest it to dh, since he seems to want to decorate this year...something new. Weird!

Anne, can you take the smaller portion of the sectional out and put it is storage some place---that would open up the space---you could even set up a tree at the end so it would not be so noticable---or a coffee table at that end. Has the realtor tried to talk to him about the price? I know what you mean about dh's ruining some clothes---when dh does any, I tell him not to touch my clothes---I wash most of my stuff on gentle cycle and keep it separate from the guys laundry.

Morning all!

I have my Christmas card list on the computer and on my external hard drive. I double check addresses against the incoming Christmas card return addresses and make any changes if necessary. I have become rather lazy over the last couple of years. Instead of writing an individual note on every card, I include a "what's happened over the past year" note with updated pictures. I keep it short and sweet, usually 1/2 a sheet so that I can get 2 notes on 1 page. I have had a good response to them. I do use boxed Christmas cards and sign everyone. I use labels, though...return & address ones. It helps the wrist! Oh, yeah, and one more thing...I have a column on my list to check if I received a card. If not, I may delete sending a card out the next year. If I have time after all my banking and bill paying, I will start on the Christmas cards...it will be nice having that out of the way. Think I will buy the Holy Family stamps, if my post office has them. Otherwise, it will be American Flag stamps.

Regarding the location of the master bedroom in our house, I think it is bunk. Yes, having babies upstairs while you are down can be tough, but not a hindrance. I firmly believe it is the price of the house and the big furniture in the average sized living room. Maybe some of you are right and dh doesn't want to let go. Oh well, time will tell.

Okay, does everyone have their dh do their own laundry? Or are we being fresh? I don't want my dh doing my laundry...he doesn't pay attention to things like colors, material, how long to put it in the dryer. He did the laundry a long time ago and ruined some things on us...after a chewing out, he announced he would never do laundry again and hasn't! Fine by me...he'd probably leave it in the washer for days and the sour smell would never go away!

Almost time to get to church. Have a great day.

Cathy, dh collected, sorted, washed, folded and ironed his own laundry. He knows I am up later than he is so he just asked if I would transfer it to the dryer for him. He will tranfer things to the dryer for me in the morning if I put a load in late at night as well. The only difference in our laundry habit is that I will collect things from everyone and he does a load of only his clothing. It is ok though because he is not real good at checking pockets, lol!

I still have to get to my other notes but only have 5 minutes before Sophie and Cashton arrive and need to make juice. Ava is already on her first nap of the day :) so I get 5 minutes peace!

Lindie, thanks for that update---sad news to hear---glad her family contacted Jane---I think I have her address and if do, might send a sympathy card. So important for us to have a family member know how to get on here to let our friends know about a crisis or passing. Glad you got your winter blanket on---know I needed mine last night.
Anne, I didn't hear any complaints, but he slept out in his chair---LOL---Jade appreciates that---she comes and sleeps with Mommy then. We didn't think of you as Scrooge---understand you are feeling a bit down plus not wanting to have to clean around stuff if someone is coming to view the house. The one thing I asked Michael about the latest house he really likes is if there is a good place for a tree and for outside lights---LOL I love to read out loud, too. But some of the English teachers are horrible readers--even pronouncing words wrong---geez
Betsy, did you get dh's laundry done? hope you were not folding it, too. Good idea to put your address book on the computer as well as the book---but do save it on a flash drive too---just in case.
Went outside and viewed our lights last night---looking good what got done---and the new Mickey and Minnie really fit the spot nicely.
Today's challenge---checking that mailing list---seeing how many you want to send cards to is always a good idea.
Have a good day!

LOL Betsy, she is in her mid 30's and she works with the down town east side clients who are poor or street people, she does have some criminology in her background and is going to school to get her instructor's certificate so she can instruct in some subjects.

She really is inteligent but I dont' think she knows how much she talks down at me at times. Some times its easier to roll the eyes and move on then make an issue of it.

Hope you got to the laundry ok - I had a chuckle out loud on that one !!

Hi, I just spent the last two hours catching up and semi watching the horrific Packer game. DS just walked in and I asked him how that happened. His response was that a lot of their starters are injured so at least it wasn't bad official calling like earlier this season!

I had written to ask you how cardio rehab went but then you posted about it so I hope it continues to go well for you.
We actually have a good portion of our Christmas cards written out, signed and addressed, all we need are the stamps! The goal is to get them out the first week in December and to make a master list and put it on the computer so we have it for next year. We also need to transfer our address book to the computer so we have an online AND a hard copy. We have so many nephews and nieces in their twenties and those tend ot be years where addresses change frequently. An online address book will be much easier to change and it won't look so messy.
How old is your daughter for sale? What makes her so "smart?" She will learn in time but I realize it is frustrating now. I am having a terrible time getting my adult children to leave the house so I just can't take another one on right now, sorry.
Lindie, DH asked me if I would put his clothes in the dryer for him and your laundromat report reminde me to turn it on again so thanks! lol

Terri, nice wave! Hello to you too!

Dianne, Giants 38 Packers 10 BOOOOO :(

Anne, most people WANT a Master bedroom downstairs and other bedrooms upstairs so that is an odd problem. We wanted all our befrooms on the same level when the children were younger but now I would LOVE to have a room downstairs for our more advanced years. My mil actually had a Master on the first floor and was able to close off the entire upstairs where the extra bedrooms were and it saved her a TON on the heating bill. Oh my goodness Anne, you were up and ready to go at 4:30 AM? I wish I could send Ava over to your place until 7 AM when the others arrive!

I have LOTS of other notes to comment on but I am saving them for tomorrow or I will never get to bed. DS's cough just reminded me that I MUST sleep to avoid catching this awful bug!

Hi Anne, yes the laundromat was worth the money - I only do that occassionaly and not a lot because it is so expsensive like 25 cents for 4 min of dryer time - but I like that the washers have an extra rince.. speaking of which I gotta go put my laundry away LOL its still on my bed, but the bed spread is on it now, the winter one, I'll put the summer one away - its lighter all the way around...

People around here already have their holiday displays up - now it will be brutal at the malls, good thing I use gift cards !!!

I like your profile pic eh

I love chili! I love it hot; I love it mild! I need to make some soon! Hope it wasn't too detrimental for your dh, Cathy! I have 2 Shrines that I am going to visit...1 with dh, bil & sil, and the other by myself (I can sit in the chapel and be there as long as I like). The lights are beautiful at both.

Carol, could Sam inform people that she will be going up on her rates after the 1st of the year. She could work her way up to "trainer" fee. She may feel more comfortable with that. Wow! You were so lucky that Amex was watching your account. If you pay anything automatically with Amex, make sure you change the information as soon as you get the new cards...that can be an added nightmare!

Dianne, I can understand your frustration with your dh. I get like that, too. Funny thing, when mine asks for something to be done he expects it done right then and there, but vice-versa it can wait til he is good and ready. Grrrr! Congratulations on the reading job! Doesn't it feel good to hear people appreciate the way you do the readings. I find that when some of the other lectors read, I just tune them out...they either read too fast or too choppy. Today's society tends to talk fast and much is missed by speed-talk. Read slow and with expression, after all you are proclaiming the Word of God...it should be done with love, respect, awe, and I could just go on and on! Again, congrats!

MickeyD...I know you are gone, now...but I am wishing you an awesome trip anyway! Wish I were with you!

Lindie, good idea going to the laundromat with the larger washers and dryers. I have a few comforters that I can use my washer for, but have to hang to dry because once they are wet they are too heavy for the dryer. I'm sure your gd will appreciate the driving lessons once she starts. What an awesome b-day gift!

I changed my profile picture to show that I am not a total Scrooge! I will take a night picture when I get home from church tomorrow night.

My computer battery is at 2% power, so I am signing off! Have a great night everyone!

Anne

Interesting soup, Dianne. When I went for the chili ingredients last night I saw a mix in the fresh veggie aisle for a butternut squash dish---it came with all the ingredients and the squash already cut up for you----I was thinking it might be interesting to try something like that some time---then if we do like it, I could do the ingredients myself the next time.
Chili was good---and the lights we have up look good---love my new blow-up for outside---and it fits perfectly where we put it.

I have a DD that "doesn't suffer fools" at least I think that is the saying. I guess I am the same way but I seem to have more patience! Maybe we have similar "problems"--I mean daughters, Lindiemae! LOL

I made a veggie soup--butternut squash, carrots, onion, some peppers (since I had them), a can of diced tomatoes, chickpeas, kale (had to go buy it--29 cents worth--it is so light) and cayenne pepper and allspice--also broth/water/bouillon. I loved it--and hubby tolerated it. I figure I can eat as much as I can hold--pretty low in calories. I am down from the Saturday weigh in--next Sat is the last one for my Fall 5% challenge. I MIGHT make goal weight by Sat--I AM trying. NO junk food this week--that is the other part of the challenge.

Lindie, nope, but I might trade Shari with you---LOL---but do agree it is probably the heat---but too much in the sun with your complexion would lead to skin cancer, too---so definitely would not argue with the doctor about that.
Terri, hope it is soon---missed you! figured you must have had lots of family gatherings.

Yes she will, I will give the $$ to my daughter who can put it in my other daughter's accnt for Charise's bday the only thing is the money is ear marked for driving lessons that Charise may not want but MOMMIE is insisting she have ..

Daughter is back from VEGAS and brought me a couple of dark chocolate bars, not real dark chocolate, but boy the two pieces I had was sooo sweet, won't be eating that up right away ...

Then I made the mistake of telling her about needing a light and etc and she proceeded to tell me my health issues are because I never go out in the sun and I am too fat ..... ( by the way she weights as much as me ) When I told her the sun makes me ill, she corrected me by saying its the heat not the sun that makes me ill, MY WORD and here I thought it was the sun all my life emoticon this is when I feel like smacking her upside her head and say, dont' be so ... so....condescending ... and then when I said it was the DR that recommended the seasonal lights, she said all you have to do is go out side .. ok so now she knows better then the doctor... ughhhhhhhhh ... I just looked at my son and my son is looking back and he knew what I was thinking. Then she said if you opened your shades you would get the sun effect .... rolling eyes here, the curtains were closed because I was OUT ... anyone want a daughter ? real cheap ... LOL ...

Could be too that he was just peeved that you could not wait for him to do or might have perceived it that way.

Body language says more then we do, so maybe it was the language in the body? Who knows, men have pms days too !!

The holidays are approaching fast, so here is a goal that will help with the $$$ make a list of people you want to send real cards to and send, then make a list of peeps you can send email cards to rather then real and send, will save you on the pocket book cause mailing is expensive these days, anyway that should be done the first week of DEC to get the cards to their destination ...

Charise has her bday the first week of DEC .. I am thinking of just putting money on her mom's CC and then sending her a card...

Carol, with his gerds, he really should not eat spicy food---and chili is kind of funny, he won't do Mexican or a lot of restaurants because their food it too spicy, but he loves chili---go figure? See, you need to make plans for that light trip for when Luke is home and make sure you email him that date so he does not make any plans with friends---LOL I would hate that being quiet stuff---always seem to make more noise when I try to be quiet. Maybe you need a white noise machine for the bedroom when he is sleeping during the day---that way you can do normal stuff and not bother him.
Anyone have any ideas for my variety challenges with the holidays approaching? let me know and I will include them.

Had a little "tiff" with hubby last night. He's said he was going to empty the garbage (turkey carcass, etc) but at 10:15, hadn't done it--so I went to do it and he got MAD at me. I wasn't doing it cause he had forgotten (passive aggressive) but just cause I had shoes one, etc and he didn't. Well--I REALLY got yelled at NOT to do it--and he came and did it. So I was sad/mad that I was just trying to help.... So didn't sleep well last night.

I did read at church today--got so many compliments. I guess I read slow enough and "with feeling" so it makes more sense to people. I did have 2 in Sunday School today--that was nice.

Back to the basement to get more stuff moved. I also have to do some sewing for the grandcats and DD3. And get to at least 2 stores to get gift for the little girl whose tag I got at church and my sister--she wants studs -- so she doesn't have to change her earrings every day.

Later!

Michelle -- hope you have/had an AWESOME vacation!! Maybe your ankle can finish "healing"!!?!!

Lindie -- don't you just LOVE stuff like that?? Oh -- by the way, the phone number you have only works from 9-5 Mon-Fri!!?!! HUH??!! NOT HELPFUL! Glad your daughter got where she needed to go though...

Hope your laundry washing goes well today -- and that you don't forget anything this time around! LOL...

Luke got back safely last night. Nice he'll have a day to get all set again -- he had a project he needed to finish so he took time "off" while home because he KNEW he had time once he got back to NYU to work on it today!

Tried TWO movies last night -- neither of which was ANY good! LOL -- I DID fall asleep on the second one Cathy!!! Not even going to try to finish it today...

Does Howard not like chili?? Why did you say he was going to "suffer"?? How long is he on vacation for? Is he going to drive you crazy??! emoticon

Our last warm day here I noticed ALOT of people putting their Christmas lights up outside! SMART -- we did NOT get that done...OOPS! Now DH will have to FREEZE when he puts stuff up outside!

Funny you should mention light displays... I had HOPED we'd drive through the one near us that we try to do every year... BUT the timing didn't work out for us -- will have to try to do that once Luke's home again for Christmas...

I LOVE doing that! We used to have one in Cincinnati that we'd drive through -- then had to find another one here when we moved up -- but amazingly there is one very close to us again! Don't tend to do the "Zoo Lights" -- did those in both cities also but they tend to be so crowded etc -- not too enjoyable -- AND expensive! The drive through ones tend to be more our "style"...

Not doing much today except trying to stay quiet while Bill sleeps.... Have an overdue library book that I guess I had better try to finish... Finally work again tomorrow -- only a flu shot clinic but at least it's SOMETHING! Then have a work luncheon on Wednesday -- but that's it again for hours this week!! Oh well -- probably just need to enjoy the time off...just hard when it's either feast or famine...! No happy medium...

Hope everyone has a relaxing day!!

Carol, now that she has proven she can succeed with these students, she should start charging a fee---good to start out to get clients---and she could charge them a lesser fee for being her first ones---but her time is valuable, too. Sure Luke will arrive safely. What movie did you watch? or fall asleep too?
Mickey, sounds like fun---enjoy!
Lindie, glad the shuttle showed up---but they should have a number to contact if a person's plane arrives late.
Made a pot of chili---dh will suffer---but he is on vacation---and they will be putting up outside lights today so a hot dish will be welcome. Hope everyone has a great day! Got to go check the challenge for today---watch the huddle!

Hi and Bye Mickey have lots of fun traveling !!!

Well my daughter is at the Bellingham Airport waiting for her shuttle - seems its late. She asked me to call them to save her $$$ and when I went to call it turns out that the office is not open on weekends, what kind of service is that? NO emergency number????

She finally got on it though, she was NOT impressed....

Carol, I hope the other trainers do not get wind of your daughter not charging the going rate, but maybe she can alter that by adding grooming and tac cleaning in lieu of that charge, I know my physio therapist had to raise his prices because all the clinics around him did and they would have complained to the association had he not or so he said, so hopefully everything will work out ok for Sam...

Hope your enjoying your night to yourself too...

Going to the big laundro mat tomorrow to use the triple loader to wash the winter blanket for my bed and wash the summer one and put it away for the year ... that time ... although I do not have heat in my bedroom, I do need a heavier blanket on the bed now ..
