emoticon Cat! emoticon No Tap!!!
My DH and I are grounded for the next three weeks, for sure. All of his doctor appointments are on Mondays through July. So no Senior league for us. If they give away our spots, that's OK. We'll manage. emoticon By the time we begin again, I should not have to worry about my back muscles...
Having to get my exercise from recumbent bike and Wii-Fit Plus. Must be doing something right, as I am losing pounds! emoticon
Happy Fourth of July to those of us in US! emoticon

Greetings all. Don't know why I haven't gotten updates for this forum and out of sight out of mind for me.
Sorry to hear about the back issues, Lou and CC. My SO has back problems and I live with his interminent pains. I feel for you,.
Lou, didn't you have to take off from bowling for a year or two because of your back?? Take care.
Yesterday I had an almost stellar no tap bowling experience. Out of 19 I had the high game of 279 (men & women). Then I had a 201 and slid down to 158. Won a couple (real) strike pots which was nice.

I accompanied DH to bowling yesterday. I took my gear, but after I sat for a few minutes in one of the houses chairs, I realized I shouldn't bowl. So I watched and read a book. I may try next week. I have a busy work week, so I didn't want to irritate my back and make work more difficult. I may go bowl a game or two one night and see what happens. Take my time and go easy.
Lou, I've been so blessed to not have any real back issues before now. Doctor said yesterday that if I give this time to let inflammation completely heal I shouldn't have any more trouble. But I realize muscles do not heal overnight. I can hope though! LOL!
It is hard to believe tomorrow is July 1!!!

Leah, you know from my posting about my back that I can empathize with your back problem. It does affect our bowling to some extent but doesn't keep up from trying our best at a sport we enjoy, does it? Hope you feel better soon. emoticon
*******
Last week a 171 average. Tuesday: 178-182-157 = 517, four splits and three spares missed but again wasn't hitting pocket enough to be able to carry some doubles to make up for them. Team went 5-2, losing game 2 by just 6 pins. We've lost several close ones like that this summer.

Thursday: Leah, you'll understand this -- I had steroid shots in my back again, the first since last October. Wasn't supposed to bowl but did. Back was more sore than Tuesday. 183-152-175 = 510, only two splits but six missed spares, all easy. team was 2-5. I don't feel as if I am helping them much.

Took it easy Friday and Saturday then went for regular Sunday practice, six games, should have stopped after five. Timing was terrific but still missed too many spares, something that used to be a strong part of my game. In game six the back was severly cramped so rested the rest of yesterday after I got home.

As always, ever hopeful for tomorrow night and Thursday night. -- Lou

DH went back to bowling last Monday. I am still having some back pain, so I won't go tomorrow. I have a follow up with my PCP since they had to give me a shot for my back on 6/13. It took days to kick in. I guess I may always have to watch the back now. No use cryin' over spilt milk...
DH said his scores weren't too bad, but he took it very easy. He'll be better tomorrow, I am sure.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Week before last averaged nearly 192 for the two leagues. This past week, only 162. Nothing felt or went right.

Tuesday: started with four of first five frames open -- 150-199-168 = 517, held average. Team went 5-2. We spotted the other team 218 pins handicap per game. Lost game one by 1 pin. Felt like it was my fault.

Thursday: 171-159-127 = 457, dropped nine pins in average. Team lost all 7. Again felt like I was why we lost. Frustrated.

But, tonight is another opportunity to redeem myself. Ever hopeful. -- Lou

I think my marathon has turned around and kicked me... on Wednesday afternoon I began to have lower back pain. As of this morning, I have constant muscle spasms in lower right back. Tissue is sore to touch. Heating pad helps... I'm going to take it easy over the weekend and see if inflammation will go away. DRATS!!! And I had such fun last weekend!
But I have felt better overall since going grain free. Today is day 19, and my usual morning RA stiffness is almost all gone. Haven't had that in years...
Have a great weekend!

Cat, my league session tonight should have been no-tap. Had 20 nine counts in the three games, two of which were clean. 168-211-204 = 583, raised average 15 pins from week one to 179. Still climbing in both leagues. Team won all 7 points, the last game by one pin! emoticon
*******
The tip from Tuesday worked well again tonight. First game with two missed spares should have been clean. On both I put the ball where it was supposed to be but got weird pin action on each one. Overall, averaged just under 192 for the week, had 4 of 6 games clean, and 3 of the 6 in the 200s. I'm satisfied. -- Lou

Good going, Lou.
I generally eat a protein bar and an apple along with multiple cups of coffee and water while I bowl. That's my lunch!
I no tapped today and just wasn't doing well. Wound up with 202,157,187. Oh well.

emoticon Cat. Are you eating before or while bowling? Often, when we don't we do run out of steam the last game. Even a protein bar or something may help. Keep no-tapping those pins! emoticon
*******
Leah, it sure was fortuituous that the doctor recommended a full check-up. Glad the stents will help. As for the stones, don't doctors now use a technique to break up the stones? A bowling buddy is having that done today. He said doctor told him it wouldn't be a big deal. Hope so.
*******
Frustration continued last Thursday: 157-152-183 = 492, no doubles all night. Last game was clean.

But, fortunes changed last night: 200-174-194 = 568, clean frames until 10th frame of 2nd game. Raised average another 9 pins to 171. Getting there.

The good news is I got a tip from an instructor who was watching our team (we have two 240 averages on it) and talked with me in 3rd frame of game 3. Seems my left shoulder was too far forward at release. For the rest of the game at release I concentrated on bringing that shoulder back. Release became effortless, ball was hooking like it should be, and hitting pocket with authority.

Team was in 1st after three weeks but only won 2 of 7 points to 3rd place team. First game was lost by 3 pins. Ugh. I did win two brackets for a $30.00 profit! emoticon
*******
Based on how game 3 went, I'm eager to attack tomorrow night. Ever hopeful. -- Lou

emoticon Cat! It is all about the fun... the exercise is good, too...LOL!
SO sorry you are having back issues, Lou!
I feel as if I am on a merry-go-round. DH had 2 stents put in on Wednesday and came home from hospital Thursday afternoon. They went into his right arm to do the cath and stents. No bowling for him at least 2 weeks. He is doing fine. Cardiologist was surprised he had to do stents. The best thing is we found out the Plavix DH was taking for his strokes was NOT doing it's job. Cardiologist said the stents fixed everything, and he shouldn't have any problems now. Had the urologist not wanted DH to have a complete wellness check, we'd not have known about the Plavix. Of course, now DH has to have bladder procedure for the stones, but it should be a breeze after the heart deal...LOL!
I'm still going to bowl. Can't on Mondays, but I think I will tomorrow after church. We have doctor appts. every Monday during June.
Enjoy the weekend!

Sorry about your back, Lou. That yard work probably won't help it any when you go to bowl, but hope I'm wrong.
Yesterday was no tap and I rolled 191, 187, 154. Ugh. My steam peters out and I start making horrible body moves.
But I had fun!

More back spasms Tuesday but managed to improve on the low first week with 171-198-163 = 532 raised average from 144 to 162. Not yet at the 200 level I'm used to before back problems but getting there. Chopped the 6 off the 10 three times. Aaargghh. But had only one split. Team had two 700 series to win all 7 points and move into first place. Our team scratch series beat the other team's series with handicap. emoticon

The past two days my back hasn't spasmed and I even got 8 bags of leaves raked yesterday without discomfort so maybe will lead to better scores tonight as we start our Thursday summer league.

Hi all. Here is a fantastic free site with articles on balance (Leah) and many other topics on how to improve our bowling:

www.bowlingball.com

Go to BowlVersity for the articles.

I am mildly optimistic about bowling tonight. The large muscle that is strained is below my right (bowling) shoulder blade and across the middle of my back. I keep having spasms but bowled seven games Sunday -- 3 over average, 4 below. So I'm not sure what to expect tonight and Thursday when we start that summer league.

The good news about my terrible series last week? I get a ton of handicap that should help when I get in the handicap brackets. Always hopeful. -- Lou

I decided to bowl Tuesday and Thursday summer leagues. After tonight, I'm wishing I hadn't committed. Lowest series since I came back to bowling five years ago. So frustrating after such a good practice Sunday when timing was terrific.

Three opens game one, four game two, and five game three. 166-136-141 = 443 = 147.6 average to start. Disappointed in myself. Can't figure out why when I practice with the guys on Sunday's fresh oil my timing and release are so much better than in league.

Just have to keep working on a couple of things. emoticon -- Lou

DH 's heart tests were not good. He will have a heart cath on 6/5. Just puts off bladder stone issue more. Poor guy still passing the smaller bladder stones. Thank goodness they are not like kidney stones, and only hurt when they are passed!
I hope we can go to Senior bowling next week. Don't know anything about heart caths, so don't know if he has to take it easy for awhile after or not...

Sometimes, Cat, it is fun. I may have to come to grips with the fact that since my back is only going to get worse that my skills may not improve much over what they are now. What is fun is when the team wins and I feel like I helped.

Such as last night, our final Thursday fall session. Last Sunday's five game practice where I averaged 194 with only one game under 191 must have helped. 204-206-172 = 582. The second game I struck the last four shots to help us win by only 13 pins to run our winning streak to 20 points. That was fun.

When I am struggling, it is more frustrating. But I keep going and practicing and trying my best, as we all should.

Tonight is payoff for Friday league and a fun night of no-tap with a prize list and probably 30-40 drawings for $10.00 each from our losing weekly 50/50 tickets (we put our name on the back and turn them back in to the treasurer). Maybe win some extra $$$. That would be fun! emoticon -- Lou

Way to come back that last game Cat! Leah, you're doing all right. Hope hubby's health allows you to bowl this summer.
*******
Tonight is the last night of the Thursday season. Even though I've not been bowling well, in the time since I rejoined the league with this team about two months ago, we keep winning, going from being in last place of 22 teams, eight points out of 21st, to winning 21 points in a row at one stretch to 16 in a row now after last week's 7-0 night moving us up to 14th place. Scores for me were not what I hoped for: 166-192-177 = 535.
*******
Last Friday ended the Friday season. This has not been a strong team -- a first time league bowler averaged 116, a lady I bowled with last year dropped from 153 to 131, and our other bowler entered at 153 and ended at 152. We got a lot of handicap but we needed one more high average bowler. Not sure if I'll return to this league this fall; maybe only do Thursday league which may merge with an adjacent league for a 48 or more team league.

Last Friday team was 2-7, finished in 19th place of 22 teams. 159-182-179 = 520, opened each of the three 10th frames. Duh me.

Always hopeful for a good night tonight. I was asked to join a team for this league's summer season so that's happy news. -- Lou

My scores were not too great, but I was throwing the ball well. I was leaving one pin, either the 5 or 10 most frames. I was missing my spares. 122-112-123.
DH is having an echogram and stress test tomorrow morning. The results will set the tone for if we bowl the no tap or not.
Hope everyone's week is good!
My one redeeming thing today was my number was drawn for a "strikepot" roll, and I came away with $7(plus took out the other 3 pins for a spare!)

Keep the games going, Leah. A no-tap league sounds like fun. I've asked six teams if they need a bowler for Thursday night summer league but haven't heard anything from them. Tonight and next week ends the season. On Friday night, this is our last week.

I continue to struggle with consistency. When I'm off, scores are terrible. Still missing too many spares and gettiing too many splits.

Last Thursday: 166-173-196 = 535. The last game helped us win that game by only one pin and all 7 for the night. We're moving up in the standings. Still averaged more than two opens a game. emoticon

Last Friday: Eight open frames in game one for 104, only one in game two for 198, then five opens in game three for 145 = 447, my lowest series of the year. Total of six missed spares and seven missed splits. Timing was off... well, everything was off. Team lost all 7 points.

Sunday practice: It was as if Friday never happened. Timing was good, release was good, shot several 200 games. Who knows which bowler will show up tonight and tomorrow night?

emoticon Cat! I'm happy to see you are better! Not bad scores at all!
I think we are going to do a no-tap for the summer.
Seems like summer here in our part of NC... almost 90 yesterday!

Hi everyone. I went bowling today for the first time in five months and loved it.
It was no tap which is good for easing back onto the lanes. And, I did pretty good after all this time away. 190,174,154. I do need to regain my stamina.
Hopefully I won't be a stranger here any longer.

I was pleased with my scores today... we begin the new 12 week session today. I had 147-112-151=410. 136 for an average the first day is good. My handicap was 51, so with handicap I had a 563 series. I made some really strange spares today!
DH has decided he wants to do no-tap. It will be very interesting!
Hope everyone has a good week!

Any extra cash here and there is nice, Lou! My ticket was drawn last Monday for the "strike-pot". It was $85. I left 1 pin! LOL! It was a good ball, though. I won it once when we first began with the Senior group. The red pins they use are not the usual pins. They are shorter and heavier. You have to hit the pocket exactly. If I did it once, I can eventually do it again! I do make a few dollars on my splits each week. It costs me $8 to bowl the 3 games and to get 6 tickets for the strike pot and 6 tickets for the cash for pins drawings. I won $8 two weeks ago for the pins. I'd probably do better getting all tickets for how many pins I knock down in a throw. At least I am improving when it comes to splits and spares! But it's fun, and definitely cheap exercise and entertainment. The people are great. Every 12 weeks there is a pot luck, and it is always good. We start over this Monday.
Still deciding if we want to do the no-tap for the summer. The meeting is on the 22nd.
I hope everybody has a good week... Spark it!! emoticon

Same old frustration last week for me. Last Thursday: 190-147-192 = 529 with six missed spares and two missed splits. But team won 5 of 7,

Last Friday:183-152-168 = 503 with only two missed spares but 5 missed splits and only a couple of doubles. Team won 5 of 7.

Back at it tonight. I just want to put three decent games together one night. It's been a long time since that happened.

One good note: after almost two years in Friday night league I finally won a weekly 50/50 drawing (they draw four tickets per night) for $16.00. Gave the kid, Chris, who sells and collects the non-winning tickets $5.00, paid for dinner, and had a couple of dollars left over. This league takes it's 50/50 portion, siphons off a little bit each week and at the end of each half draws 30-40 losing tickets for $10.00 each. We put our name on the back and Chris collects them. Nice way of doing it instead of like on Thursday where the league's half is split among all the teams at the end of each half.

Ever hopeful tonight. -- Lou

Our league payout was last evening. Nice tidy sum of $$$, may use some of it to buy a new bowling ball. I have not purchased a new ball in AGES. Other than that, don't plan to step back into the alleys until July.

I continue in the now almost two year slump. Last Thursday 191-159-185 = 535. team won 2 of 7. I again averaged two opens a game with few doubles to make up for them. But I did convert the 6-7 split!

Last Friday: 192-198-161 = 551, again averaged two opens a game. Team won 2 of 5.

Last Sunday's 6 game practice averaged 186 using each of three balls first three games then the same ones in order the next three. The best reaction were the two games with my DV8 ball: 203 and 193. May start with that ball tonight. Keep trying, right? -- Lou

I think my subconscious must be keeping me from posting scores. lol. I read your posts and cheer for your health and consistency Leah and for your good scores Patrick but then fall behind on sharing my own.

Part of a long past lesson seems to be kicking in -- keeping the elbow behind the ball and thumb up -- one I knew but had gotten out of the habit of doing. It made for better scores last week. But the week before that wasn't worth bragging about except the Thursday team's winning streak.:

Thursday, 4/9: 169-192-171 = 543, team won all 7 for 9 points won in a row. Kept my average of two opens a game going and no doubles.

Friday, 4/10: 161-170-181 = 512, team went 4-3. Averaged two opens per game again. One double all night.

Thursday, 4/16: 186-203-154 = 543. Two opens each first two games and three last game. But had doubles first two games to make up for opens and did strike out in 10th frame of last game to help us win all 7 for 16 points in a row. This team I joined a few weeks ago is no longer in last place, having moved up four spots after tonight. emoticon

Friday, 4/17: 157-206-222 = 585, team won 2 of 7. Finally found a line last two games. It was nice getting strikes again.

Now to look ahead to tonight's session. -- Lou emoticon

We're on vacation the next few days, and coupling that with a dinner I am attending with my wife for her work next Tuesday, my 2014/2015 season is effectively over (I'm not bowling tonight either). Hopefully the team can finish strong the next two weeks and we'll end up high in the standings for the 2nd half.

CATHOLICCORGI, hope you are feeling better soon!

emoticon on converting the weird split, Patrick! I don't think I've left that combo yet.
Don't know the final placement for church league yet. The secretary for the past year was lousy and made lots of mistakes. I will not vote for her to do it next year. If we go again next year...
Looking forward to a quiet, uneventful weekend. Church has a bake sale, and that is all I am getting involved in. I'll make my cookies and let it go at that...

Tuesday night league results: 190, 208, and a 189 for a 587 series. Would have likely had a 600 series except for an ill-timed 6-7-10 split in the 10th frame of game 3! I did convert a very unusual split last evening -- one I don't recall even seeing, let alone make -- a 2-4-5-7-10 split!

Team-wise, we split, after getting pummeled in game 1, we won games 2 & 3 but lost series.

Today was good. A 413 series... 167-121-125. I will be grateful for a 137 average today. The last game I pulled a muscle in my right foot, and it was very painful to try to bowl. I was surprised i did as well as I did at the end.
Stats should come out tomorrow for the Church league.
May consider a No-Tap for summer...

Last night was interesting... the other team did not show up. One of our subs did not show up. The absent team had "blind" scores put in, as did our team member that wasn't there. We won the first two games, lost the third by 14 pins, and won overall pin count. So, if we get 6 points, that will not be bad. I felt I bowled competently...125-158-125. I was taking down either 8 or 9 pins consistently, with some strikes. I think if I can keep getting a 136 average consistently, I will take a few coaching sessions to see if I can get to a 150 average or better. I think I have progressed well in the past three years. I will miss the Church league. But bowling every Monday will keep me in practice for the Fall.
My Sparking has been consistent, too. I'm not losing weight, but I have stayed at the same number for months. My doctor is happy... so I am, too!
Have a great week!

It's nice seeing all of you being consistent and bowling well. Last week I did not represent my teams or this one well. Averaged two opens per game both Thursday and Friday nights but went four of the six games without a double. There's no way to make up for an open frame without at least a double.

Thursday: 180 (one split)-165 (two splits)-156 (two missed spares and a 10th frame 5-7-10 on a pocket hit of all things) = 501. Team could have won all seven points instead of just two if I had bowled close to average. Dropped average three pins. Darn it!

Friday: 185 (one split)-156 (two spares, one split)- 174 (two spares) = 515. Team won five of seven.

Looking forward to a better performance tonight. -- Lou

Tuesday evening league results: 175, 242, and a 200 for a 617 series. Two weeks in a row with good scores -- WOOHOO!! What has been interesting is the fact that I have had to move right to get better results. Much of the season I have been standing on the 10th board and throwing to the 5th board. Now I am standing anywhere between the 5th and 8th board with a straight hook in vs the arcing hook I was throwing. Oh well, at least I am reacting to how the lanes are playing. That is progress!

Sadly, team-wise, we lost all 4. Our top bowler had an awful night, and we were up against a high handicap team that had one bowler on fire. Not a good combination!

Lou, I guess it helps to know what might be throwing your release off. It makes sense, though, that the cramps would make you pull back. Natural reaction...
Would heat, like one of those thermal patches, help it any?
Patrick, glad your team ended up winning those points! That shows you how we rely on computers, yet the computer does make it easier to keep the scores.
We bowl on the 11th for positioning rounds. We are in 8th place now. Our teammates will be out of town that night, and are supposed to have lined up subs. Whatever happens, happens. I'll be grateful wherever we place.
May everyone have a blessed Easter, or Passover if you celebrate either holy day. Looks like Spring has sprung here in NC. But then so has the pollen.. achoo!!

Last Friday team was 0-7 again. Not a lot of opens, just not enough strikes. 192 (one missed split)-182 (two missed spares)-160 (one missed splare and two splits) = 560, dropped average a pin.

Last weekend's City tournament scores aren't worth posting, they were that bad. But I may have found the reason for a flaw in my game of turning the ball early, causing me to pull the shots so often -- a fellow bowler said when he developed back problems he did the same thing because his back, as mine, would cramp as he let the ball go, causing him to straighten up and pull his shots. I asked if he found a way to compensate but he hasn't. So that's the next goal: be more aware of the cramping at release and stay behind the ball with knee bend. Let the cramps happen. Just don't let them throw my game off as they have done for almost two years.

Back at it tonight in Thursday league. -- emoticon -- Lou

emoticon BABSMOORE10300!!

Interesting evening last night for me and the team. My line: 245, 176, and a 215 for a 639 series! Had a good pocket line all evening. Only got into trouble when I slowed the ball down too much!

On the team side, it looked like we were going to lose 3 out of 4 until our team captain discovered an issue with the handicaps being used by the other team. What was on the scoring system was not the same as the official book averages, so once that was accounted for, we ended up winning 3 out of 4!! No fault of the other team...just that the house had failed to update their system!

We won all 8 points tonight. My game was consistent again... 127-164-117=408. I could handle a 136 average on a regular basis!
One more session to go, and it's a positioning round. Our teammates will be out of town, so I hope the subs are decent bowlers! DH is not sure if he wants to bowl next year. I hope to change his mind.
Monday will be another day to learn and practice!

Wow, lots of good news from you Patrick and Leah. Consistency is a worthy goal. Well done. And happy news about Tomas. Glad to hear it. emoticon
*******
Forgot to post for Friday the 13th. With the scores that night that's no surprise. 204-153-145 = 502, seven missed spares and one missed split. Dropped average a pin. Team went 4-3.
*******
On Sunday the 15th we had our regular group practice. Was zipping along at a 197 pace until tiring in game six and ending the session at 188. With the track ball had 199-204-189 = 592. With the DV8 ball had 201-192-145 = 538 = 1130 for six games = 188 average.
*******
Last Friday the 20th had the purest game in two years. 228 with only one bad shot. Timing was perfect, the ball rolled off the fingers, and I hit my target. Felt so good. But then, 164-170 with no doubles either game and two missed spares each game for 562, raised average a pin but team went 0-7.
*******
No practice last Sunday, worked our association's annual city tournament.
*******
Rejoined Thursday night league for the last nine weeks. Had 1021 for first two weeks at start of season to start at 170. Tonight had 193-192-178 = 563 to raise average to 176, not great but will get better. Four missed spares and three missed splits. Team tied game one to go 1-6.
*******
I bowl doubles and singles in the City tournament this Saturday, working from 0730 until bowling at 2:00 then working the team center Sunday from 0830 till we bowl team at 10:00 then work it through after squad. Two long days. Doubles and singles at center I bowl leagues in; team at center where I had my highest averages 20 years ago and where my team won a tournament two Decembers ago.

Shots will be modified house shots with heavier and longer oil. Eager to see how I adjust. -- Lou

Tuesday evening league play was a whole different beast! 147, 184, and a 170 for a 501 series. I had not slept well Monday night, and my energy level was just flat out low! I switched to my lighter ball after the game 1 fiasco and had marginal improvement. Thankfully the team took 3 out of 4.

Practice time on Friday...

Did have a 615 practice set last Friday -- and all 200's as well, so a good sign of consistency.

My Tuesday league scores: 218, 184, and a 189 for a 591 series. HUGE improvement over last week. Should have easily had a 600 series but missed two makeable spares in the 8th and 9th frame of game 3. Oh well...

Team-wise -- we split. Another "oh well"...

emoticon Good practice, Patrick! emoticon
We lost all games and pins last night.. to the number 2 team. We were missing a team member... she is in graduate school, and had a paper due Monday and just could not give up the time. We held our own, though, only losing each game by 20 pins or so. My scores were good, for me. 135-123-150. I still could not find where I needed to be. All three of us had better than our averages, and had Suzanne been there, we possibly could have won. I feel good about how we all bowled. Only two more Saturdays left to go. Where has the time gone?
I may go get in a few practice games today. I have BOGO coupons for March to use...
Hope the new week is kind to us all!

Got in a 4 game practice set yesterday (had two "freebies" for my birthday, which is tomorrow) -- 711 set (178 average). Worked with both balls, foot placement, etc. Hopefully this will translate into better scores next Tuesday!

emoticon for Tomas!! A sight hound without running capabilities is not a happy hound, LOL! To watch a greyhound run is poetry in motion... and I love to watch Salukis run a lure course, too! Pure grace and elegance emoticon
Chevy has been demanding we go for a walk every night now that the weather has been so pretty. I enjoy it as much as he does. emoticon

Yes, Tomas is almost fully recovered! Slight amount of swelling in the injured foot, but way down from the day he hurt it. And it is not causing him any pain or limits his walk/run ability.

Ingrown toenails are not fun, Lou! I hope the inflammation has subsided by Friday night! emoticon that not bowling for a week or so can hurt! But you're heading back in the right direction, Patrick! Is Tomas back to feeling better now?
I've always heard you need to find your "strike ball" and throw that way. I envisioned what I'd have to do if I was throwing for a strike when I saw the 3, 4, & 7 lineup. That's how I tried to throw the ball, and it worked... It did on just about on every spare I had Monday. I am trying to think about where the ball needs to end up, how it follows through. I know it is all a carp-shoot, but I am beginning to figure some of it out... FINALLY! LOL! Whatever I am doing is causing me to be a bit more consistent.
That now said, I bet I do something wild on Saturday night and can't hit the broad side of a barn! Only time will tell!
Have been walking Chevy every evening... it's been very unseasonably warm. 82 today. It feels good to be outside and getting fresh air!
Looking forward to the weekend...
Stay well everybody!

Layoffs are tough on our games for sure Patrick. I had an ingrown toenail cut out Monday this week and am anxious about how it will feel and hold up this Friday night in league. All we can do is try, right? emoticon -- Lou

Last evening's scores certainly showed a two week layoff (no practice, etc): 152, 205, and 144 for a miserable 501 series. The only redeeming part of my scores was game 2 -- clean game! But the bookends were horrible, misses, gutter balls, etc. Can't wait for Friday to get here so I can get some quality practice time in.

Team-wise -- won 3 out of 4. At least that was positive. Had I bowled even close to my average in game 3, we would have swept.

Praying your sweet Tomas continues to recover, Patrick. Our pets ask so little of us and give us unconditional love so it hurts us when they hurt. emoticon

I agree, Leah, that the 3-4-7 split was a tough conversion. emoticon And emoticon on your consistent scores.

Last Friday our team lost all 7 points despite getting more than 200 pins handicap a game. Unbelieveable. I had:

155 -- with one missed spare and two missed splits and no doubles to make up for them.
201 -- with two missed spares but lots of strikes.
185 -- with one missed spare and one missed split.

Total = 541. Wasn't consistent in my delivery games 1 and 3. Skipped Sunday's practice to let my mind settle a bit. Will practice a couple of games before league Friday.

Score well this week -- Lou
