Sheesh, I meant that I'm not doing NaNo, but I broke 50K yesterday.
Still, it is awesome, but I didn't want you guys to think I wrote all that in two weeks! :)

I broke 50K yesterday! But I started the day at 49,200. :)
I didn't do well in June, so trying again. I have more written this month though I'm a little behind. I'm also a rebel as I'm working on two YA novels that I already had started before. Hoping to get them both closer to having finished first drafts by the end of the month.
Think since I don't work much this week, tomorrow I might try to write 10,000 words.

I'm not officially signed up, but I am trying to write every night with fellow Campers who started a chat loop. We do writing sprints on there. I was about to churn out a little over 700 words in about 1.5 hrs. Would have been more if I didn't have a dog. :)
I'm doing Camp! I'm working on a novel I attempted to write for NaNo back in 2008 but never actually finished. This time I have an outline, so I feel better about it. I had been editing my JanNo novel, but I'm taking a break to work on this new draft. I'll probably go back to editing if I'm stuck with this story, though. :)

I'm rebelling, sort of.
Last year I started a book that was supposed to be about 2 people on a journey. Somehow it... grew... and is now an entire series with a huge cast. So what I'm working on now is actually book 4 of the series (the books are not exactly being written in order, either, just to add to the editing nightmare) which includes a flashback from the original novel. I do have a new word file for camp and have started after the previous flashback (which is now not a flashback.)
Confused yet? Try being on this end of my keyboard!
For November I'll do Book 3, and in September and October I plan to finish and edit Books one and two. (There are, so far, 9 books in the series. I'm blaming Harry Potter.)

I'm rebelling too! It doesn't matter if you're editing... there's lots of people who are! Something about Camp is more informal, and people are willing to rebel. ;)

It's August! Anyone doing CampNo (as I like to call it) this month? I'm working on fixing up my NaNo from 2008. I'm sort of being a rebel, but not entirely, as I plan to write new scenes and flesh out existing scenes and generally make it better. I hope.

I managed to completely blow Camp this session... I got too busy with work! Figures that my biggest distraction from NaNoWriMo would be... NaNoWriMo!
However, I'm doing it in August, if it kills me.
I'll be rebelling this August, too, and finishing an old WIP. I am determined not to start a single new project, even for NaNoWriMo, until I finish an old one.
Also: NaNoWriMo trading cards. THERE ARE NANOWRIMO TRADING CARDS. I have to hurry up and get paid so I can donate and get some. LOL. (Come on, who doesn't want their very own traveling shovel of death?

I didn't finish - only got to 43k - but I finished the first draft of my novel, so I consider the month a win. :)
Abby - That's a very good philosophy. I think I'll count my days that way from now on - especially since it's currently after midnight and I have yet to write more than 300 words today! :D
Katci13 - Congrats! That's an incredible amount of words to write so fast. Well done!
I'm currently at about 18k, which puts me close enough to on track. I'm not sure if I have another 32k in my story (a first for me), but I'm just going to keep writing and see what happens.

That's exactly my philosophy, Abby! The day ends when my head hits the pillow, even if the sun is up. ^_^
I did it! I think. I had about 4000 a month ago and today I have over 54000 words! I'm so excited. It's makes the 10 hours I logged yesterday so worth it even though I'm exhausted out of my mind. It feels really good. I could cry. ^_^

I don't consider the day to be over until you go to bed :)
I'm still on track to hit 50k, but I've met the daily goal about ten minutes from midnight most nights. My new goal is just to finish this novel this month. :)

I'm at almost 10,000 new words for the first week. Not quite on pace to hit the 50, but I'm okay with that. I started with 27,000 words (I'm a rebel!) and want to have it finished by the end of July (in time for RWA Nationals!) and then start the nitty gritty editing in September or so. I can do it! :)
I didn't start until late in the afternoon but I did get 1135 words down on paper! Maybe I'll hit the goal by bedtime! Anyway, I'm off to a good start.

Argh! I forgot. Work went to heck and I was awake for nearly 20 hours straight trying to fix things. After that, I took a screen-free weekend and didn't even think about writing, working or any of that.
I did some sewing, worked with the dog, cleaned the window tracks (Ewww, filthy), anything that didn't require brain power.
And of course, now I'm behind. *sigh*

I'm off to a mostly good start. Only 200 words the first day, but over 2500 the second and 1800 the third. Yay!
Sorry I'm late to the party! NaNo Camp sounds great -- less than 2000 words a day! We'll see if I can keep up with you guys, but sorry, mine won't be a novel. I just don't do fiction (yet) so for me it will have to be essays or something similar. Maybe one each day?
I just finished a project for work that was 370 pages of prose and another 2200 pages of "evidence" -- documents I didn't have to write, but I did have to find.
It will be fun to write something that is NOT on a work-related deadline!

I plan to start at midnight! I get home from work shortly before then (unless I bail early, which I might) and just past midnight I'll log into 750words.com and start writing. I'll (hopefully) do a thousand or so, then copy and paste into a word doc, save, and go to bed. I'm off on Fridays and I took Saturday off, so I'll have two days to get a jump on it as this may be a bad month for me, time wise.
On the first I have the weekly teen creative writing group that I ended up leading, and after that is a planning session for the writing segment of the creative workshop that starts the 2nd week of June -- I'm leading sessions on Monday and Friday, my two days off.
So, yeah, I'm hoping for 12.5k by the end of Saturday...

IF I do this, I'll likely be a rebel, too. I have been working on one particular novel for...well...pretty much forever. It's time I either finish it or euthanize it.
I'm larri2005 over on the NaNo sites. I was actually larri2004 in 2004, but I signed up and never went back, and NaNo ate my username.

I (mumblemumble) started with good intentions last summer, but failed each month. Too many distractions in summer. November works better for me, for some strange reason (maybe because I don't have kids to get ready for the holidays). Anyway...I'm thinking of ideas for Camp NaNo (or CampNo, as I started calling it last summer). We'll see...we'll see....

Storycrafter - I'd laugh harder if that weren't totally something I would do. Last summer, my boyfriend and I set up a tent in the guest bedroom so that we could write in a tent for camp. :D
Yeah, my parents rented a beach house from May 29 to June 4. I'm bringing my laptop, and there's supposedly Internet there, so I'm hopeful that I won't fall too far behind during those first four days, but I wouldn't be surprised if I did.
Maybe I'll just stay in my room and pretend to be asleep until I hit the daily word count. :D

Well, there's also the fact that I'm spending eight days on a beach in Mexico in June. I always bring my AlphaSmart and noetbooks on vacation with the intention of using my lazy time to write away, but that never works out.

We call it "nano lite" because there are fewer features. :) It's more intimate (no forums on the camp site, though we do have them on NaNo Main) and the focus is more on getting to know the people in your cabin, rather than massive quantities on the f orums and local meetups)

You could still do camp - just be a Rebel, and work on your current project, but still meet the word counts. It's an option, anyway.

I might be in for 1667 per day, but I'm not ready to start a new project right now. I've got to get Deadly Nightshade submission ready before the end of the summer, and get my outlining done on my next project.
Not to mention all the short story ideas I've been putting off while I slog through my rewrites.

Okay! I'm gonna do June. But I'll be working on something that's already started. I just need a kick to write a lot.
I've got about 20,000 words already and I'm aiming for at least 80,000.
I'll be doing both sessions of camp, too! I won both last year, and I'm looking forward to winning both this year, as well.
I highly recommend Write or Die! I thought it was stupid when I first used it, but now I'm addicted! It's a great tool for when you're stuck and can't think of what to write. I set mine to kamikaze mode (meaning it'll start deleting words if I don't write for a while), and that really helps push me to get something down on paper...er...the screen.
Just be careful if you're using the online version: I had issues saving the first time, and I ended up losing everything I had written. Grated, this was 5 years ago, so I'm not sure if it was an error that they have since fixed or I was just incompetent or what, but I'd copy and paste what you wrote - just in case, until you know for sure it'll save.
That said, I now own a copy of the desktop version, and I use it all the time. I have some issues with formatting, but it's so worth it when it helps push me to write. :)
Thanks for the recommendations! Those sites sound fantastic; I'll have to check them out!

Doing both camp sessions sounds like a challenge I might warm up to!
Another great tool for getting in the groove of mass writing is a nifty thing called Write or Die. You can use it for free at www.writeordie.com or you can download their desktop version for just $10 and put it on both your laptop and desktop computers.
It's a great way to see exactly how many words you can write in a given time frame. And, the incentives to keep writing rather than staring out the window are terrific fun! The best part is that you can download a widget to put to either your SP blog, personal blog, or FB page to celebrate your writing progress and try to best yourself the next day!

I'll be doing both sessions. (I did both last year when they were back to back, July and August. Yes, I am insane.)
I'm still not sure what I'm writing for June but I may be a NaNo Rebel and work on something that I started and got stuck on. It has a beginning that I like and an end scene that I like and pretty much nothing in the middle, so I'll start a new word doc for the middle part on June 1st.
50k in 30 days = 1667 per day. If you want to warm up for it, sign up on 750words.com (you can set your writings to private and no one can see them). 750 is just under half of the needed output for NaNoWriMo and it gets you into the habit of just writing, and writing daily. I use 750 for stream of consciousness ramblings, for ranting about my day, and for talking to myself about sticky plot problems. And for getting over being stuck.
BTW, I'm SoloWytch at the NaNoWriMo sites too.

Signing up is easy ... go to http://campnanowrimo.org/sign_in and sign up. Choose whether you'll write during June or August (I'm doing August) and set up your profile page. Then, on either June 2st or August 1st start writing!!
It's really not a lot of words, just about 1600 per day to reach the 50k total for the 30 days. It's definitely a goal you can accomplish - but it does mean writing every day.
Hope to see you at camp!

Are you calling it a LIGHT NaNo because of the month? Because that's still a lot of words for 30 days.
I've decided to do the August session of Camp NaNoWriMo. Is anyone else doing it that session?

Hi All, I'm Pamela, and though I joined SparkPeople a while ago, I'm taking it seriously now. I'm glad to see the Writers' Support Group, and having read some of your comments, went over to Camp NaNoWriMo and signed up!
This should (might?) motivate me to get started on a real life change- coupling my goal of a healthier body and mind, with my long time desire to write a novel.

This is a fabulous idea!! I'd love to do Camp NaNoWriMo with everyone this year! I tried it last year, but it was hard without a support group to do it with. If someone sets up a group, let me know, and I'll join in. Writing in the summertime is so much easier than during the holidays ... and I've got three outlines to choose from, each looking for time at my keyboard!

Haha. Yeah! I haven't been on the site very long. You actually commented on my blog a few days (weeks?) ago, but I used a different name then. It's so exciting to see other Wrimos on here! :)
Yay Camp NaNo! I definitely think we should do a challenge thing on here for it. It's always helpful to have a group of people cheering you on while you write.
If anyone's on the fence about doing Camp NaNo, I highly recommend it! It's a lot of fun, especially for people who aren't as busy during the summer as they are during November. :)

Some of you may have heard of NaNoWriMo... National Novel Writing Month. Well, this summer, we're doing our second Camp NaNoWriMo! It's sortof a light NaNoWriMo during summer months of June and August.
