I'm doing the 5 day, 5 food fast forward again to get myself kicked back into gear to get the rest of this weight off. So far so good...I managed to find fresh raspberries for my spinach salad yesterday...they were so yummy. This morning when packing my lunch I saw the coconut extract in my pantry...so today's lunch is raspberry-coconut yogurt!

Anyone else doing 5 day? Where is everyone anyway??????

PS... I will be going back to FBD when the five days are over..since I;ve got it down and don't care for so many recipes on CORE.

I ended up doing the 5day fast forward only 4 days, then we had a Scout banquet to attend for my son and I just ate what was available, although I think I was much better controlled than before I'd done the 5day. Anyway, after that I did some of the Core plan for a few days, but found myself going back to more of the FBD meals. I like the breakfasts and snacks of the Cinch diet but not many of the lunch/dinners, and especially to make for my family so we aren't eating entirely different things. So far I've lost about 6 lbs, between 4 days of the fast forward, and about 6 days of the regular. I do think at least 3 lbs of that is water weight b/c the day I ate at the banquet I regained 2 lbs which I lost quickly once back on track. The Cinch and the FBD are very low sodium b/c of the lack of processed foods primarily I guess. I'm also no longer drinking diet Coke, which has sodium.

Anyway, the 5day fast forward is definitely better than the jumpstart of the FBD - I did get pretty tired of raspberries and subbed blueberries a few times, but not having to down an entire clamshell of cherry tomatoes was a very good thing!

Well, 6 lbs down, 74 more to go!

I tend to make salads using half misc greens and half spinach
so that was kind of what I was thinking of going with for now ...
especially since I have a giant container of Spring Mix still to finish off and wanted to start sooner rather than later.

I really needed to get moving and have only read part of the info
but wanted to get moving doing something good ASAP (or sooner).
So based on what I've got on hand and what is on sale and what is on schedule, this week looks like it is going to be a strange melding of the Cinch 5day and the FBD jumpstart.
Guess I'll call it a "10 day" jump&fastforward... 4 jump + 5 fastforward + 1 day for the three meals scattered thru the next week and a half that will be healthy but not part of either plan.

My injuries are almost healed so hopefully I can jumpstart my exercising as well.... starting with a small fieldtrip tomorrow
to celebrate the first day of Spring with a long walk at the beach !! emoticon

I really shouldn't be giving advice because I've been a "slacker" and haven't even tried the 5-day plan yet - however, I wonder if some of the non-starchy vegetables that are similar to spinach - like Kale (which I've just tried for the first time and found it very tasty), and collard greens - and other 'leafy' things that can be prepared in a variety of ways can be substituted for spinach?

Do it, NOW!

Love the foods on the 5day but....
I need a little variety
which I can get for the berries and the tofu/yogurt and the nuts
But
is there anything I can substitute for some of the spinach?

I like spinach but would prefer to still enjoy it in the weeks following the 5day, not get burnt out on it during the 5day.

Finally found the book today...so guess I should go try to read some more of it....

Hi Geocacheaz

The 5 day plan is pretty easy but you have to like, no love raspberries. Because you will be eating them 3 times a day for 5 days. When I did it, I couldn't do the raspberries no more than 3 days because I got so sick of them; I don't even eat them today. During the last 2 days I switched to blueberries. Somewhere in the book it says you can do that.

Good luck.

Sorry, meant to add that i began the Fast Forward on 3/9/11. Tomorrow is my 5th day and I have to say I'm getting sick of spinach and raspberries, primarily. I have used frozen blueberries for part of the raspberries. I also broke down tonight and added a few cherry tomatoes and carrots to my spinach salad for variety.

Tomorrow I have to attend my son's cub scout banquet and I'm planning to have a few things there that are not on the program, but will get back onto Core on the following day! I'm looking forward to a little more variety.

I believe you can use tofu as an alternative to yogurt, although I'm not sure in the Fast Forward part. But tofu has more sodium so that may affect water weight loss. You can use soy yogurt or coconut yogurt as an alternative to dairy yogurt.

Hi Lladies

I'm combining meals from both CINCH and FBD because I like meals from both. This combination seems to be working for me.

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks!! Well, today went OK..not fabulous, but a good start. I took some liberties with my salad for dinner..

I actually really liked the yogurt/berrie/almonds parfait.

Is every else on the core plan now?

Hi All,

I have been so encouraged by the many posts about CINCH and the 5 day program. Going to start tomorrow and try to log on to keep me honest!! I am great at starting these things and horrible at staying on them. But the plan makes sense and I think the almonds and almond butter will keep me satisfied.

Good Luck to everyone!!

Well, we got the snow, but not much, but enough to cause a 2 hr delay for school. It's cold and going to be colder tonight. I want the sun and warmth that we had last week.

I'd planned on starting the Cinch diet last Monday, but it wasn't a good week to start since Monday was Valentine's Day. Sweets were everywhere at work all week long. So will be giving the diet a new start tomorrow.

SMACHEL, Oh good, glad the spinach and egg ratio seemed better today. I just realized (for myself) that the protein part of the egg is in the whites, so I'm going to use one yolk and 2-3 whites, instead of 2 full eggs each time. I thought up a new recipe LOL. I'm thinking about cooking the frozen spinach in a small skillet, then cracking a whole egg on top & put the lid on to poach it. Hey we need to get creative hehe. In my smoothies I've been using the almond butter w/flaxseeds every time. The crunchy toasted almonds sprinkled on the bowls of berries is really good.

My weigh-in is on Friday morning and that's when I post it for my ticker, so that will be after just 4 days on the 5-day Fast Forward, but that's OK. I'm going for long term anyway! Then the next Friday will hopefully show a loss as well. I'd really been stuck for awhile, so the 4 days of Jumpstart last week, and the 5 days of Fast Forward this week, is really helping. The one last week is my calorie range because of my height (short) but it taught me portion control and seemed to cure my constant "grazing." Knowing that there's another meal in 3-5 hours really helps! It doesn't seem like I have to wait 'forever', just for awhile.

Hope your day goes well~Cheers! ~Sandi emoticon

Hi Sugar, thanks for responding. This morning I ended up using half the amount of spinach from yesterday. It was a better spinach to egg ratio. I am sort of tweaking the plan for me as well. I couldn't do raspberries all 5 days either so I got black berries and blue berries as well, and a frozen berry mix. I have also been switching around when I eat each meal. I found that the smoothie was not good as an evening snack, it didn't sit well in my tummy, but it was great for breakfast. So today I had the smoothie for breakfast, the scramble for lunch, I will have the parfait for afternoon snack and salad for late dinner. I thought about adding another egg to the salad, but I will wait and see if switching the meals around makes it better first. So far, the plan is working out. I don't think I feel any different yet but I weighed myself this morning out of curiosity and was down 1.6 pounds already. But I won't be changing anything on my weight tracker until the full 5 days are complete. Good luck!

SMACHEL-Hi, I just finished day one and heading to bed- just checked the Cinch! book and can't find anything except what you said, one cup fresh or frozen. I would say just have the amount you want. For myself, I am slightly tweaking for "me" so I'm probably not a good example. I used fresh, and chopped up a big clamshell of triple washed organic, so that I wouldn't need to do anything but chop it up. The volume was greatly reduced by chopping it, so it may be that a chopped cup is the same as the frozen thawed cup. I didn't measure, just used 1/2 the clamshell then the other 1/2. For me, I need more protein than the one egg, so I used 2 eggs in each recipe. I know that's 4 eggs per day but I have no health issues, and it's for a short period of time. I added lots (at least a cup) of grape tomatoes, and about 1/2 cup of fresh mushrooms, sauteed everything including the spinach in a tsp of olive oil. Whipped the eggs really well with some ice water, then added to the veggies, and got a nice really big scramble. For my berries, I am using Trader Joe's frozen 'very cherry berry blend' as I did not want 5 days of raspberries. This has raspberries, cherries, blackberries, blueberries. Please don't go by my example, I'm only saying what I'm doing for me. Then for the yogurt meals, I did smoothies both times, just preference, don't want a parfait. Same ingredients anyway. The other spinach/egg meal, I made an egg drop soup, using an 8-oz carton of free range low sodium chicken broth, NOT on the list (just so there is no confusion) boil, drop in chopped spinach, whip in 2 whipped eggs for 1 minute, makes one bowl of nice hot soup. Pretty bland, so tomorrow I'll add chopped basil, and fresh garlic. Plus I still got the bowl of berries with crunchy sliced almonds (TJ's, dry roast no salt) I knew I had an hour and a half Yoga class tonite & Wed nite, plus am pretty active, so needed a bit more protein and calories. I feel really great tonite and already feel "flatter" (as a figure of speech) Hope your day went well. Would you mind posting again how it's going for you? Best to you-

I have a question about spinach serving size. The scramble calles for 1 cup spinach, fresh or frozen. But one cup frozen CAN'T be the same as one cup fresh... right? I thawed my frozen spinach in the microwave and measured out a cup, then added it to the egg to scramble. That is a lot of spinach. It was good but the egg was hardly noticeable in the spinach. I feel like it must be at least double the amound that is actually supposed to go into it. Does anyone know what the correct amount of frozen is? Or is it really supposed to be a cup?

Hi Chelle

I think it was just that my body was getting used to the changes that I was imposing on it. I added an extra egg to the dinner salad and I felt much better yesterday. And I must say, I love the smoothie. I didn't have almond butter, so I substituted natural peanut butter instead.

I feel so much better today. I hope I don't get burned out on raspberries with eatting them with every meal for 5 days. Cinch seems to be working though. I got on the scales this morning and was down 1/2 lb.

I finished the 5-day. I lost 3 lbs. I had just lost 10 over the holidays; so that's why the loss wasn't as extreme. I'm happy with it.

I did eat a fiber bar almost every day. I got hungry and needed something bread like. I don't have the book; so I'm back to my regular weight-loss-diet.

Good luck, I may do it again before my cruise in May.

Hi Chelle

Started the 5 Fast Forward Cinch plan today. This is going to take some getting used to. I had my first meal at 8:00 and by 9:00 I started to feel kind off light headed and headachey. Is that supposed to happen? Hopefully, once I get through the 5 days, this feeling will go away.

I have been reading the Cinch book for a couple of days, and really think that I will do the five day start plan, but, after looking at the other recipes I really think that the Flat Belly Diet plan suits me best. I have it down and really like the foods I eat, and was loosing really good until the holidays hit. Next week after my birthday I am going to do the 5 day cinch plan and than hit the FBD plan to get the rest of my weight off.

The Cinch five day plan sounds much better than the FBD 4 day plan...and best of all No Sassy water...I got so grossed out on cucumbers by the end of day four.

Icandoitsue-Hi - I am doing Cinch (2nd week on the full Core Plan) It is extremely easy - and I feel great on it. You can go to www.cynthiasass.com website and read alot about Cinch! She has added to the Q&A section with answers to questions she keeps getting on her Facebook Cinch! page. You can also go to www.shape.com/cinch - there is a month of recipes for the core plan you can print - those recipes will give you an idea if you would like the plan. Good luck with whatever you go with. I love Cinch!

Help = my DH will shot me if I get another "diet" book. I haven't done the FBD in awhile, but wanted t get on with it. NOW I AM CONFUSED.. Is the Cinch program easier to follow? and worth investing in another book. I have the FBD book and 400 Calorie cook book and tracker. Love the recipes, will this still work? I did email to see if it is at the Borders store, any ideas emoticon emoticon emoticon

I don't think there is a substitute for the yogurt on the 5 day Fast Forward. On the Core Plan you could have skim milk or cottage cheese some of your proteins choices.

Is there an alternate for yogurt?
I cannot do yogurt - I've tried many times, its the consistency of it. Love cottage cheese, would sugar free pudding be an alternate, or just milk?

CHELLES - Thanks for the clifnotes! The book isn't available in the stores around me yet so I could check it out.

That daily journaling existed with FBD also. FBD had that same daily journaling with a daily "core confidence" assignment.
BUT, rather than using that -
If you really like diet logbook idea, I'd check out the log book she "co-authored" with Suzanne Schlosberg.
"The Ultimate Diet Log, a unique food&exercise diary that fits any weight-loss plan"
It was something I'd picked up to use in my pre-Spark days (after looking at zillions of log formats). It is still great to use when I'm going to be away from internet or when I need a few weeks to refocus myself. It was about $10 and has enough pages for recording 26-weeks.
It also has a nice introductory sections with nutrition tips/techniques/info. getting yourself started and also doing a 5-day tracking and self-analysis.

Thanks for this posting. I did get all of the foods that I need for the Fast Forward, now all I need is the book, which Amazon tells me has been shipped - but while I'm waiting, you've offered some good thoughts that will give me something to plan around that will be very helpful. About the cost of frozen raspberries - YIKES!! That alone was enough to convince me that I didn't want to spoil this plan by getting a candy bar for the drive home from the grocery store. In the short run, the candy bar would have tasted great, but in the long run the raspberries may be the key to a new me. Who knows for sure??

Please share any other information that pops up on your radar screen and thanks!!

I am posting a "Cambpells Soup" version of the Five Day Fast Forward Plan so you folks have an idea of what it is all about. If you like what you see, I strongly suggest you explore the book. I am very glad I bought it.

For five days you will eat: Spinach, Raspberries, Almonds (slivered), Organic eggs, and Nonfat (0 percent) plain yogurt. Cynthia suggests using Greek yogurt and that is what I used. It is high in protein.

You will drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, you can have up to five cups of iced or hot black, oolong, green, white, red, or herbal tea, unsweetened.

You can have one cup of coffee a day; no sugar but you can use skim milk.

You are two eat for meals a day. Ensure you eat one hour after you get up in the morning. The meals are to be spaced no less than three hours and no longer than five hours apart.

Breakfast: Scramble
1c of spinach
1 egg
1 c raspberries
2 tbsp almonds, sliced or slivered.

Spray pan with extra virgin olive oil. Mix spinach and egg together. Add garlic and pepper. Serve with a side of raspeberries sprinkled with the almonds along with two cups of water and, if desired, 1 cup other approved beverage.

Lunch: Parfait
6 ounces nonfat plain organic yogurt
1c raspberries
2 tbsp almonds, slivered or sliced.

You can lightly dust berries with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, or a mixture of all three. Layer ingredients like a parfait.

Dinner: Salad
2 cups fresh spinach
1 c raspberries
2 tbsp almonds, sliced or slivered
1 large egg

Toss spinach with 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar and 1 tbsp freshly squeezed citrus juice, such as tangerine or blood orange. Top with berries, almonds, and egg. Garnish salad with freshly grated pepper or a dusting of cracked black pepper.

Snack: Smoothie

6 ounces nonfat (0 percent) plain yogurt
1c raspberries
2 tbsp natural almond butter
Small handful of ice

After putting ingredients in a blender I sprinkled 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and blended ingredients together.

In "Cinch!" Cynthia tells you what you can expect on each of the five days. There is also a page you fill in for each day saying what time you ate each meal, how you feel, then a question to think about and answer.

There are similarities and differences between Cinch and the Flat Belly Diet. With Cinch you don't have to count calories AND you can have a piece of dark chocolate EVERY DAY on the Core Plan. How excited am I?

Hope this helps!!!
