Okay. I suck. emoticon I have been learning how to dip chocolates for the last few weeks, and I didn't get a chance to set up my blog and post the photos of my vinyl project. I'm sorry. I actually did make a cute project. I used a 6 inch square white tile for my project. I cut the "December" shape from the "Teresa Collins - December 25th Seasonal Cartridge"

http://www.cricut.com/Shopping/detail--Cricut-Teresa-Collins-December-25th-Seasonal-Cartridge-261-3405.aspx

from red vinyl and adhered it to the tile. I purchased an inexpensive black table top easel and made a pretty bow out of black tulle. I attached the bow to the easel, and placed the tile on the easel. Super easy, inexpensive, and cute.

Did anyone else make anything for the challenge (so-called emoticon )?

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Here's a link for a good vinyl-cutting tutorial. She shows you how to use the vinyl transfer tape, too.

There's a tiny bit of a learning curve to working with vinyl, but once you get the hang of it, it's very fun, and the possibilities are endless! I love it! I buy most of my vinyl from cricut.com
It's about $10 for 2 12" x 24" sheets, and they have lots of colors. I've also purchased it at JoAnn's and once in a while, I can find it at my local Michael's. I do not like the glossy vinyl that is commonly found on Amazon, but I haven't tried searching specifically for matte finish (on Amazon). I recently picked up a multi-color pack of matte vinyl at JoAnn's, and it believe it was $15.00 or so? I wish I could remember exactly...sorry. You also need to purchase the vinyl transfer tape, which is about $10.00 for 2 12" x 24" sheets. Keep in mind that I'm not a coupon shopper (shame on me), so you may be able to find it for less. Cricut.com's prices are fairly competitive, though. If you find you really love using it, there are places where you can buy it in bulk. There is a place here in Utah that I've bought bulk vinyl for less than at Cricut.com, but it's been a while since I've done that.

I've never worked with vinyl before. Where do you get it from? Is it complicated to use?

Hi, SKERTSO! Thanks for posting

How would you all like to create a Cricut project using VINYL? This can be a gift item. You can use any medium. For example, you can decorate tile, glass, ornaments, serving ware, etc. It can be embellished any way you like.

You can start now, of course, but photos and list of supplies used must be posted on your SparkPeople blog (include link) by MIDNIGHT, DECEMBER 1st.

Sound ok?

I think that's a great idea. I'll have some downtime, not a lot, but some where I'll be able to work on this. To post photos, I'm not quite sure how its done. But over to the right there's a link for photos. Not sure if this is to look at or post. I'll check later.

Hey, Cricut-licious team! I'm thinking we might need a fun challenge for the long Thanksgiving weekend! (I'm off work from Wednesday, Nov. 27th, through Sunday, Dec. 1st...long for me.) I'd like to get a feel for what you all would like to do. I was thinking maybe we do a Christmas gift challenge using our Cricuts (or other cutting systems).....something other than cards. ??

I'd like to start the challenge on Sunday, November 24th, and end on Sunday, December 1st. We'll post photos of our projects by midnight on the 1st.

Please let me know your ideas on the best way to post photos. I'm fairly new at this, and I'm way open to suggestions.

Let me know what you think.

Happy November!
