It is dead in here. Anyway, I run and I love it. I am the slowest person in history but it makes me feel better. It relieves the stress I feel from my day. I put on my headphones and just zone out. It is cheaper then eating all the food in the fridge due to stress.

Chose something you like. If you would do better with group activities, find a friend to go to a class with you. I do best in the evening and love the bike.

Micki,

I had trouble getting started with exercise as well but then I posted in one of my SP teams my exercise goals for the week and gave them an update and permission to virtually emoticon my A** if I did not keep up. I started with 3 days a week for 15 minutes and increased 5 minutes each week. I could lie about my exercise but then I would only be hurting myself. It was fun to have everyone checking up on my exercise status. I did not want any butt kicking. So post your goals and I will keep after you. LOL You don't live that far from me. emoticon

I recently have become addicted to Greek Yogurt. I love Chobani brand and it has 14 Grams of protein and only 80 mg of salt and no artificial sweeteners. It is great for a quick snack or breakfast. The vanilla is not the greatest but the ones with fruit on the bottom are awesome.

Hi I'm Anita also and I guess I'm fortunate that at the hospital where I work we have access to a microwave on every floor or unit so I can take a hot or cold meal to work. When I work 12 hour day shifts I have to pack for 3 meal breaks. Breakfast is usually cold cereal with skim milk and fruit, Lunch normally leftovers from supper the night before and yogurt for dessert and afternoon tea is soup or a salad with chicken breast, nuts,or seeds and low fat cheeseand some fruit. Then at home I eat with my roommates a hot healthy meat, vegetable & starch dinner around 8pm so I'm too satisfied to snack late at night.
I also walk the 12- 15 minutes to work and home after so I get my daily exercise.
My problem area is getting to bed early enought
to get a decent night sleep.

Brightest blessing from Anita

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own inperfections, but instantly set about remedying them - everyday begin the task anew._Saint Frances de Sales

Ok I have a question about what does everyone eat for breakfast and lunch? I'm having a problem finding food to take with me to work that has protein and isn't high in sodium. So for the past 2 months , I've been having either a hard boiled egg with some wheat thins and OJ or a yogurt with a banana. I also have a problem with lunch- it's either a salad or a whole wheat english muffin with almond butter. It's all I've been able to come up with. Eating salads all the time makes me feel like a rabbit and I've tried cold cut sandwiches but they make me go over my sodium and calorie intake for the day. The only problem I don't have is with dinner since I'm home. I don't want to go to fast food places during the day because everything is fat laden and packed with calories so what does everyone else do?

I did lose 2 lbs in 2 weeks so I guess that's good even if it wasn't aerobic.I hope it continues. I'm giving myself a year to lose 50 lbs.

Thanks Anita, I guess 10 min. is a good start. I always feel if I can't do the 30 or more why bother. And if I keep going, 10 can turn to 20 and if I do that a couple times a day that's pretty good!

I was just talking to someone on another team and she advised me to drink the water and exercise in smaller chunks to start- ex try drinking only a quart of water to start not 8 glasses and try walking for 10 min daily not 30. I should have thought of that myself. Anyway I'm going to try that. It's better than not doing anything.

you know I"ve been baffled for years that with all the walking a nurse does on her job, that we are capable of getting fat. It just makes no sense. You would think we'd walk the fat right off every day. I too have a hard time with exercise. My heart is there but if I don't get out of bed early enough to walk before work, it ain't gonna happen after work.I so don't know how people get to a gym by 6 am before work! I'm hopelessly stuck. Right now I'm only exercising on my days off . Since I have a heart problem, I know sporadic exercise is not good. Would love to be able to do some exercise routine daily. My cardiologist is always on my case- says I should know better!

I have a hard time finding the time and the energy to exercise. I know the weight would come off faster, but I can not get motivated. I joined Curves but never went. I have an exercise bike that is your typical clothes rack. I am just too tired after work and the weekends are usually busy. Am I hopeless? emoticon
