Hi Patrae, When I had all 5 of my surgeries, the only person I wanted present was my husband, he was great, just like when I had our 3 kids. It is up to you who you want with and kindly ask people to respect your wishes, as this is a dificult situation for you, you are not selfish and need to do what is right for you.Ingrid

Good morning, Yesterday was my first day on the team and I thank all who have written and it makes it a little easier to cope. I have a question, I want only my husband with me when I have the mastectomy, my oldest daught ,who has no plans at all of coming, says I am the most selfish person she has ever known. Is this right? I want them to come a week or so aftr, I just want to get use to this situation.

Welcome back and hope everyone is feeling good today. I enjoyed the Billy Ray concert last night, and had a productive day today. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am working with my Sunday school kids Saturday and we are doing a play for Palm Sunday services. It was a sunny day again here, wore my spring jacket! I haven't been exercising like I should, I hope to get back into it. Ingrid

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee! fitnessgear101.com/fitness-calculato rs/water-requirement-caculators.aspx

Hi all, I have been away for a couple of weeks, and have missed your mail. In reading through this thread I realize that many of you are going through some very stressful times. Know that I will keep you in my prayers and send good thoughts your way. My husband had a meeting in San Francisco, and now that I am an empty-nester, I was able to join him. We were delayed in coming home because of the 21 inches of snow here in Ohio. Can't complain about a few extra days of vacation in a great city! Eating at restaurants all of the time presented a real challenge - I am thankful that I came back home with only a couple of extra pounds that have disappeared quickly now that I can better control my meals. Have a good weekend!

Hi all... I have been stressing over getting ready for Florida, I'm an idiot. In reading your concerns and I know them well myself, the realizations returned to focus on each moment. The pleasure of being with family and friends is a gift. My prayers are with those who are doing the daily struggle of beating cancer. I thank you for getting me back on track.
In May we are going to walk in the D.C. Avon Breast Cancer walk. Each step will be for all the strong women I know.

Today I was on the road again. I had to take my mom for her bone density test. Then in the afternoon I went for my cystoscope. I am so glad that is over. It was quite painful and I hope it helps. I left at 9am and didn't get home til 8pm. Long day and I am tired.

According to last nights Biggest Loser, Bob said to indulge, 1 night a week. Makes it much easier to stay on track the rest of the week. As he put it "eat that mac & Cheese". One time a week makes for better results.

Hope things go well for you SJS, our new member, I'll keep you in prayer, I hope you get an all clear on your health. Thanks everyone for your support, I watched Biggest Loser with my son, it got my mind off things. I also talked to my Pastor as he is always optimistic, and called the Y-Me hotline, sometimes you just need to talk to someone. Hope you feel better Fluffy, headaches can be nasty. I just hope you all stay motivated, keep up your good work, and don't dig into the M&M's like I do sometimes we just need to self medicate, and I have done this with food from time to time. Ingrid

You know, I had an incredibly busy day at work today (ate my lunch at 3:30, ended my shift at 4:00!) and came home with a horrible headache. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself, poor me, I've got a headache. Then I come here and read these posts, and you ladies really put me in my place! Here I am worrying about my little headache, when you ladies are dealing with reports from your oncologists, adjusting to new oncologists, test after test, worry about the results (or lack thereof), etc. Wow - really puts things in perspective for me.
You ladies are so strong and courageous. You face all this news bravely (you may not feel brave, but you are) and deal with whatever the answers are because that's life & you want to live.
I am so proud of all of you, I have so much respect for you. And I keep you in my prayers daily. God bless you all.

HI INGRID. I'M SO GLAD YOU HAVE A NEW ONCOLOGIST WHO IS THOROUGH AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS GOING TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU! YOU DON'T NEED SOMEONE WHO IS RUDE AND NOT LOOKING AT ALL THE FACTS. I HAVE DEALT WITH A DR. LIKE THAT IN THE PAST. STAY POSITIVE AND TRY NOT TO WORRY. YOU HAVEN'T GOT ALL THE DETAILS OF YOUR TESTS YET. WE WILL ALL BE KEEPING YOU IN OUR PRAYERS.

I saw my new oncologist and I am now more scared than ever. She has concern over a bone scan I had 15 months ago, she said there were some areas of concern. She also told me both times my tumors were grade 3, I never heard this before, she has ordered 3 blood tests, a bone scan and chest x-ray. My old oncologist was not very thorough and never told me about these things. I decided to get a new one, beacause she was rude to me and was not communicating things with me. I like the new dr., but I am really nervous and concerned, I had cancer twice, my family needs me to be well. Please pray for me. Ingrid

Welcome to a very caring and giving team. All our ladies here are so encouraging and supportive. I'm doing the usual. Daily pain from the FMS and back but that's easier to deal with than the stress over Cancer. Especially the having to wait, that is so hard. Sometimes when the Dr's make your appointment for the removal after calling and saying it's Cancer, it makes you want to smack them. It's almost like they don't think you are going to do any stressing until they get around to you. Hang in there and let us know what you find out.

Hmmm I not sure how I am feeling today, I guess it is kind of highs and lows. I am happy this team is really growing, but I am sad to see so many more women are being affected by this disease. I am happy because I can help these ladies with support, info, or just a shoulder to cry on. I am sad to see what these ladies are going through and how scared, stressed, and worried they are. I also have 2 daughters that I am constantly worring about that they will also get this disease. Hugs and God bless all you beautiful strong ladies!!

Hello everyone. Three women in my family have had breast cancer, I am now going through all the checks because my doctor thinks I might have it. He says it could be just an infection. I am kind of scared, but my mom and grandma made it through so I can to. Maybe it will be just an infection. "praying"

They don't start as teens, they start in at about 9 preparing for the teens so they have a nice transition and we get the brunt of it right along! LOL.

I'm glad the first chemo is behind you and an opportunity to recover for a bit. Your family being supportive makes all the difference in the world. It really helps having that structure in place.
Today my family is driving me nuts! It must mean after 5 years they are feeling very secure. Thanks for reminding me of how we do support each other most of the time. Teens, OMG....My focus needs to shift. I'm lucky to be here, we will get through the teen years as well.

Cookie, when I went through the Pain Management Course at the Hospital the Dr., told me that rather than lay in bed not sleeping, to get up after 15 min., and go do something, read, the computer, what ever for a little while, then go back and try again. Let me tell you, I had many a sleepless nights and it didn't help that I had a chain saw sleeping beside me. LOL. If I didn't go to sleep before him, forget it. Any way, the tecnique helped.

It was dark here till 8am so it sure wasn't the sun shining in on me cuz it still isn't shining. Oh well I will survive. It will just be an extra challenge. Hugs to all!!

Cleo, you are in our hearts and prayers. Hang in there and yell if you need anything!! I am doing pretty good. I am fortunate and am not fighting the big C., just the Fibromyalgia, allergies and bad back and hips, but you know, I consider myself lucky. I take into consideration that I can still get up and move and there are so many people out there that can't. So, really, I have it easy.

Hello Cleo, on getting through the first treatment. I know how ill it can make you, I hope you are feeling better. My prayers and well wishes are with you. I remember being so sick and crying that I had to miss my son's baseball games, and seeing the Easter Bunny, my husband filled in for me and took video and pictures so I could feel like I was there. I am glad your family has been helping you through this rough time. I pray your energy levels improve. Sending Ingrid

Hope everyone is doing well on their weight loss. I have not been on SP in over a week but I have not gained any weight. Had my 1st chemo this past week so my energy level is low but I have a wonderful family supporting me, plus all the SP who have wished me well. On the bright side I only have 5 more to go!

Glad you are feeling better and that the walking is going well for you. I did a lot of walking today but not at the beach...it's pretty windy and cool. Hope your appointment goes well on Tues. Ingrid. Hi Jadzea May and Cookie...hope you are doing well too

Way to go on the weight loss Ingrid. Woo hoo good job on getting all that walking done. You should make your challenge easily! I am feeling pretty good today. I did my strength training which I haven't done in about a month. So I am working really hard on getting back on a regular schedule.

Feeling pretty good today - I wasn't feeling too well yesterday, had a migraine & sick to my stomach. But that has passed and today I walked 5 miles total - 3 with Leslie (Walk Away The Pounds video) and 2 outdoors with the pups. It felt so good to accomplish that! I've done 17 miles this week (Saturday - Saturday)and have 8 more to go by the 15th to make my challenge!!
Great news on the weight loss, Ingrid!! Keep up the good work!!

Hi all, Sounds like you guys are all busy with some cool stuff going on. I've had a good week, busy with my son's activities for Lutheran Schools week, each day had a different theme and they also had a talent show which he was in. Looking forward to a family weekend as we celebrate my mother in law's 85th Birthday, and working with my sunday school kids on a play for Palm Sunday. I have an appointment with a new oncologist next tuesday, I hope she's nice.Spring hasn't sprung around here yet, it was a windy, cold chicago day...maybe DST will bring more warmth as the days get longer. Have a good weekend all my BC friends.5lbs lost so far since end of january. Ingrid

HI ACTUALLY, I HAVE THE LESLIE SANSONE WALK AWAY THE LBS WHICH I'VE USED. I'M AWAY FROM HOME SO ENJOYED WALKING THE BEACH. I LIKE TO USE MY SLIDER AND TREADMILL AT HOME WITH MY IPOD ON. I'LL BE HOME THE END OF MARCH. I DON'T MIND IF YOU SOUND LIKE A BROKEN RECORD. ALL MOTIVATION IS GOOD FOR ME HA HA
