We only stayed a couple nights in Custer as most everything was closed for the season. We found a nice RV park still open to stay in. We were able to visit Crazy Horse and do the Wilderness Loop in Custer State Park. We were a little surprised as restaurants and most everything close down for the winter!

Now we are on our way to Zion River Resort www.zionriverresort.com/ It has a Flood Warning Out as they have had quite a bit of rain. We hope to spend a day or so exploring Zion National Park. If the weather cooperates, we may even take a day trip with our car to Bryce Canyon before moving on. If it's raining hard, that won't be fun so we may just head on to Pahrump where there is a better weather forecast.

hi Sharon
when we were in that area last fall, we stayed at the rafter j bar ranch campground in hill city. it was a good location to be able to see the local sites - and it was a good campground too!
drive safe.
AND ENJOY!
cheers,
pdq

We actually left MI a day early (last Saturday). We are traveling slow as we are in no hurry. A couple days we actually only put a couple hundred miles in as the wind has been gusting up to 40-45 mph and that makes driving a high profile RV difficult. We just drove through Rapid City, SD and are headed to Custer where we will park at a campground for a few days and drive to surrounding tourist attractions. Other than the wind, no problems and beautiful sunny blue skies.

Boo... is it sad to put the rv to bed for the winter?

I recall the winterizing, but now that we full time, we "winterized" by migrating to so. cal.

I'm glad you arrived at your home base safely with some great memories. We are busy getting ready to leave MI next Sunday. We will slowly head west and end up in Pahrump NV (outside of Las Vegas) for the last week of Oct.

My favorite Nat'l Park is Bryce in Utah. Try to get there one day and I bet you'll agree although Norm's favorite was Zion.

Yes, I'm sure! I remember for years people would tell us how beautiful the Nat'l parks are in Utah but we didn't believe them. Then we went and OMG, God's beauty at it's best!

departed north bend yesterday morning. the casino rv park is worth the stay - we had a great bayview site and really enjoyed it. that section of the coos bay waterway was busy with tug boats, fishermen (and women), and there was a large ocean going ship from hong kong being loaded with timber.
we are now in salem. staying here for a week.

We did get to see some good shows. I really wanted to see the Sons of the Pioneers but they were over $33 a person, and our limit was $25. How neat that you got to see that show that way! The Baldknobbers are all family, as are the Bretts.

Treasure lake sounds beautiful, and you were right in Branson! Our camping group (Ocean Canyon properties) just bought Compton Ridge campground which is on 76 if you keep going until it is surrounded by woods, LOL! Really it is only about a mile or so beyond the first light on 76 so really close. They wouldn't give us a good rate for our group though, so we went elsewhere.

We are home now, arrived today. We unloaded the RV and will be taking it to the shop, because the level legs (rear) quit working and also, we had damage on the front storage door when something hit it, and then, leaving the park in Branson, Matt cut it too close to the stop sign and messed up the trim on one of the slides, and scratched the paint so that will have to be fixed! My mother always told me "Bad things happen in 3's!" emoticon

It sounds like you got to see several good shows. We saw a really good show but I can't even remember the name of it. It was a whole family and they heard us talking in a restaurant and came up and offered us discount tickets.

Treasure Lake is off Sheperd of the Hills Expy. It's in a really nice location and we appreciated that they gave our group nice discounts as well.

I will remember that about the train as we talked about taking it the next time we go. We did the Mighty Ducks thing and my GD loved it but she was 16 at the time.

Hi, Sharon! We saw the Legends (Jerry Lee Lewis, Patsy Cline, Blues Brothers, Aretha Franklin, and Elvis) Didn't think the lady who did Aretha was all that good, but their Elvis impersonator sounded EXACTLY like Elvis, and from the side, even looked like him.

Then, we saw the Baldknobbers, and we enjoyed their show, too. Before we saw them we ate in the Grand Buffet as a group, that was good.

We also saw the Imax show on the Ozark legends and really enjoyed that, too. The shows were very Christian and Family based. I agree, though, they ae quite expensive. Where is Treasure Lake? We were in Forsyth, which is about 7 miles from Branson.

Oh, forgot to tell you that we also took the Scenic Train Ride. What a disappointment! All we could see was brush on all sides except for when we were on the trestles. I would say to save your money on that one! emoticon

Did you see any good shows. They are getting so expensive bit I do like Branson. Our RV team had so much fun there last Sept. Thanks to Tammy we were able to stay at Treasure Lake and it had a lot of fun stuff to do right there.

We just left Branson, Missouri yesterday. It was a cool, sunny day. We are now 400+ miles south of there at the Oklahoma/Texas border, on the OK side. Amazing the difference 400 miles can make in the weather! It is also sunny here, breezy, with temps in the 90's. Will head home on Sunday morning. emoticon

Got to agree we stay away from KOA too but it was the only thing listed in that town get this they have a deluxe site only difference is you get a table & chairs and a new type fire pit for $74 a nite get real not for us 54 was pushing it like I said we stay at State Parks alot cheaper and more of a camping feeling.

Sharon are you using the swing and playground ? I do once and a while it feels great swinging like a kid again !

We are on our Spur of the Moment last trip of the summer! We arrived up at Mackinac City to rain and cold temps (56). We have been sight seeing all the local souvenir stores and just relaxing. We have two more days before we head home on Sunday. The weather is improving day by day and today it's is in the high 60's and sunny. Here's a picture of our campsight taken the day of rain so not much set up.

We are right on the water's edge and can see the bridge from our sight.

hey Boo, that sounds like fun.

we tend to avoid koa - just not our cup tea. we have stayed at a couple of nice ones, but based on the numbers of times we've stayed at a koa, we are always left disappointed and poorer.

A little late but we spent 2 weeks in Tenn alot to do Pigeon Forage , Gatlinburg Nashville Chattanooga and places in between had a great time stayed at State Parks except at Pigeon Forge stayed at at a KOA that really hit the pocket book at $54 a night pool was very small for a campground that big and tight spots . Had a blast hiking and exploring .But really don't want to see the mountains for a while LOL

Gerry - it's fun to see where everyone Is going, what they're doing and eating! I bet you'll get some good seafood. I'm sure Marion is ready to go with the casino nearby. I just ordered me a Lucky casino shirt online. I haven't got it yet but I'll be wearing it for my next casino visit!

Heading to Frontier Campground in Ocean View NJ (Upper Cape May County) next weekend with Nancy. Looking forward to my favorite broiled seafood platter at Junior's Crab House on Friday night! Get back Monday for bowling Monday & Tuesday, then heading back out Wednesday with MIL Marion Brown to a state campground I stopped at last November on Eastern Shore of MD/DE in Delaware, Killens Pond State Park. It's a few miles from a really nice casino, Harrington Casino so she's ready to go!

That sounds like fun. Enjoy Mount Vernon!

We spent the weekend as planned at Silver Lake at the Sand Drags. We went to see our friends son race and he won the whole shebang so it was fun!

We want to take the MH out for a weekend, just the two of us. We are thinking we may go up to Mackinaw City for a few days.

We spent the weekend at our friend's home in Spring Arbor, MI. It was about 2 1/2 hr drive. They live out in the country and own a beautiful home with pool. We parked there and on Saturday they had a big 50th Wedding Anniversary party for our best friends. I left my lap top home and took my FitBit off. It was just a time spent with family friends with no distractions.

This coming weekend we are headed up to Silver Lake again for the Sand Drag races.

Gerry - do not know of polland maine, but have staying in williamsburg virigina (really enjoyed the stay there as the park was close to the historic area and there was excellent trail close by for walking the dogs and going for a run)
fingers crossed that you get to make your trip :-)

We took our MH down to Shipshewana, IN for Mon-Thurs of last week. We met friends from another Spark Team. This has turned in to an annual event. We had a lot of fun and quite a bit of rain but we didn't let it dampen our fun. And the sun came out for our dinner picnic on Tuesday so it was another successful trip.

Then yesterday we went up to Silver Lake to the Sand Drags. We took the MH as we couldn't leave the new puppy home in her crate that long! As it turned out we got there and there was a big sign "Absolutely NO Pets!" Well, being the law abiding citizens we are - we took her in anyway! We were there from 10 in the morning until Midnight! We did fine and kept Nala in the MH except for occasional potty breaks. No one seemed to care about a 2 lb puppy!

thank you Gerry

sorry to learn your trip is not going ahead - that's a disappointment i am sure. not sure of your weather, but it has been extremely hot and dry here in the pacific north west. some people will have had there camping plans cancelled because there are so many forrest fires everywhere. and even if you are able to get out, there are no fires, no smoking, no fireworks - a complete ban.

cheers

Congrats on the new RV, I'm jealous!

Regrettably I've had to cancel my Turning Stone/Verona NY trip scheduled for next week/weekend...personal issues have come up and it can't be helped.

Hoping to get a trip in maybe in August if all goes well.

thanks. we looked at a lot of motorhomes. we were not seeing anything that we liked. then in February of this year, saw the allegro and really liked it. liked it enough to to trade our suncruiser.
now, having been in it for awhile, we really like it!

enjoy your trip. it's always fun to be out on the roads :-)
drive safe now

and happy 4th to everyone

Hi Peter

We seem to be having the opposite with our weather. It has been cooler than normal and lots of rain! This year we also have an abundance of Mosquitos so I will be ready to head back to sunny and bug free AZ by Oct!

Sounds like a fun trip. I like that you can be happy for your friends but not envious.

Norm and I are still down in Shipshewana, IN. We met a group of Spark Friends from another team. We come every year to get together. The ladies are all quilters so we come here for the fabric store Lolly's. I don't quilt so I come for the friendships I have made.

They have all gone home but Norm and I stayed an extra couple of days as we are shopping the Amish stores looking for a chair to replace our swivel rocker in the MH.

We will probably head home later today.

we are just back from a trip to calgary, ab to visit our friends there. the drive through the rockies is always a great one. we did not take the motorhome. our friends have a new house in the kensington area of the city (very pretty area along the bow river). great visit. and they have a most beautiful homes, but it sure did not make us want to give up the full time living in our motorhome :-)

You bet I went and checked it out! I am so envious! We looked at that MH too and I fell in love but we decided because we don't Full Time, that now was not the time to upgrade. Lucky you!! I hope it is as wonderful as we both think it is and you make wonderful memories with it traveling!

LOL... yes, we did it :-)
we had been considering "is it time to trade our 2009 motorhome for a 2015". had not seen anything that we would trade for until we saw the tiffin allegro 36la in february of this year. got pricing at a couple of places, but waited till we returned to canada to buy. (the exchange rate is huge.)

this is our first trip in the new motorhome. really enjoying the floor plan. because we full time, floor plan is major consideration for us. tiffin had made a good unit. nice fit & finish. if you check out their website, our exterior colour is 'maroon coral' and the interior is 'camomile'.

Gerry - we were broke down a few years ago and unintentionally spent a week in Asheville, NC. We explored it pretty good and it was enjoyable in a upsetting time.

Our next outing on the books is a rally in Shipshewana, IN with a group from the 50+FFFF team. It's like the 5th or 6th year in a roll we meet there for three days.

We have a weekend planned in July for a 50th Anniversary of our friends across the state.

Of course, our big plans are for Pharumph, NV in October. From there we will drop down to our AZ resort after that for the winter.

Our winter season in AZ was different than our usual. Much more rain especially in the beginning and then above average temps the last couple of months. Sure not complaining as it was better than the frigid cold temps and snow our family experienced in MI.

Today we still have blue skies but the temps are already much cooler and we're bucking winds in open areas. It will be TX all day today. Last night in Van Horn and by tonight we hope to make it to Weatherford. TX is such a large state - it just goes on and on!

Today we have sunny skies and wonderful temps. We should be good tomorrow as well. Then we will be dodging some spring weather activity. Our hope is to travel behind this storm front and in front of a new one! At least that's our plan.

OUR day has finally arrived! We left Towerpoint this morning at 8am and are officially on our way back to MI. We are always excited to leave MI in the fall but get just as excited to return home in the spring. Our prayer is for safe travels and to avoid any severe weather along the way!

Another safe and successful trip! You truly are blessed. Now for maintenance and visits with family and friends. I'm looking forward to heading home as well. We have decided to pull out and head home on Sunday, April 19th! We will definitely be keeping our eye on the spring weather that can turn severe quickly!

Gerry - you get your MH all serviced and you'll be using it in no time. I know you're not afraid to take off and go by yourself.

The invite for Pharumph is for you too! I know it's really far for you though so if you can't make this one, perhaps our next rally.

We've had one in Custer, SD and one in Branson, MO. Both has lots of attendees. This one may be smaller as there isn't as many on the west side of the country and makes for a long trip for some of us. It helps us that it's late enough in the fall, we can just come to AZ from the rally.

I'm jealous of all this traveling...I go for service Tuesday and my State bowling tournament day trip on Saturday.

Itching to get back out on the road!

Safe travels to you! It will feel good to be back on Home Turf, I'm sure. We only have one trip actually reserved. We are meeting several members of one of the SP teams I'm on in Shipshewana, IN. It's the 50+ Females, Feeling Fit and Fabulous. We're going to be there from June 29th through July 2nd.

Another SP trip we are scheduling in Oct the last week. A group from this team is meeting in Pharumph, NV. for a few days. Is there any chance you'd be interested in joining us. We would enjoy spending time with you and Larry!

We have lots of other stuff we'd like to do but haven't pinned definite dates down until we get back to MI.

It's nice you can get the MH in for servicing right when you get home - good planning!

So you are getting close to your home stomping grounds. When will you get back and will you stay put? I'm looking forward to being back in MI although I think we may use the MH more this summer than last year.

Sounds fun! I'm getting ready to be on the road myself. Just a couple more weeks here for us.
