I signed up for what will be my second marathon in Philadelphia in November. My first is Gettysburg in just 13 days. I'm enjoying the tapering this week and next but I'm trying to keep my nerves calm.

Today I ran by the sea and did some running on the sand - I feel so blessed to be able to run beside the ocean.

Today I wasn't deterred by the rain, and as I ran down the hill back towards home - there was a magnificent rainbow overhead :D

I had a great run with my dog today. It snowed a ton here yesterday but the sidewalks were plowed a little so we decided to go for it. It was a little harder running in the packed snow but my dog was psyched to be outside and it was adorable lol.

I've not had as great of a start in 2013 as I had hoped, but I got out and ran 4 miles this afternoon while my daughter was at a lacrosse clinic. It was in the low 30's today but the sun was shining and the wind was calm. Just glad I started the week off on the right foot and hope to keep it going tomorrow.

Got in my long run yesterday (11 miles). My running buddy and I found a new place that was BEAUTIFUL but very hilly. It was a paved trail around a moutain lake. The scenery was gorgeous but omg it was so challenging!

Hi LOL I dont believe what I am seeing. Your topic is exactly what I have said about myself in my profile. It is great to see like minded people on this website. I have just joined and am looking for a Spark Team to join but am out of running for the next couple of months. I am extremely unfit and am looking at otherways to boost my fitness levels until my knee heals. I havent run for YEAAARs. I used to love jogging. Maybe it is something I can work towards.

Taking it one step at a time.

Yesterday's Run: did speed intervals and pace was a little faster. Picked a trail that was a little too rocky for speed work. Beautiful scenery and little purple flowers were blooming.

I was feeling really tired (almost forgot to put my insoles in my shoes before heading out!) and still a bit sick with a headcold, but I took a couple of Gel Blasts beforehand and went. When the gels kicked in, I felt so much better! Even though my pace was a bit slower than usual, it wound up being a pleasant run.

And the sunrise over Lake Michigan was a gorgeous layering of gold, peach, and blue.

What's good about yesterday's run? The fact that I did it! It was hard (after vacation at a lower, flatter, place and not running much).
Hopefully it will get easier as I get back into my routine.

Running has always been my sport but for the last couple of years I have really been mixing it up and lots of walking. Working on my running to get ready for race season (for myself, and maybe place in my age group time to time) In Michigan yesterday it was 50 some degrees, ran outside, soooo much better than running on a track. Ran without stopping/walking for 37 minutes. Probably doesn't seem like much but I've been a "Galloway" runner for a long time, run/walk, repeat so to keep it going was great!

Ran on a mostly snow-packed trail. A little ice, a little mud, but mostly soft and nicely packed snow. I ran all the way up the hill at the end - no walking breaks! Fell once on the ice and got back up - kept going.

Tried trail running yesterday on a trail I thought would be snow/ice/mud free. The good news is I didn't give up. The bad news is I was totally wrong about the trail. What a muddy, icy, goopy slop! I felt like some kind of X-Terra athlete, slinging mud and sliding on the ice.

I'm new to the team - this sounds like a great idea, but not too many follow up on it! Anyway, last evening's run was a PR for me - my best time so far. Also, it is warm enough where I live to run and the streets are now snow-free enough.

I had a great tempo run. I ran my fastest time with my lowest heartrate since my last marathon in October.

That is awesome!!

My positive is that I did my 8 miles outside yesterday. My long runs have all been indoors this year because of the snow but the weather finally cooperated yesterday. Must buy bodyglide though!

Tika, I love morning runs too!
