Hm, interesting, Pat. I don't take a flax or other O3 supplement, but I do know about them in a general sense, and I am not aware of any -harmful- side effects along the lines you're describing. Unexpected color and odor aren't inherently bad. If you've ever taken a heavy dose of B vitamins (or eating a lot of nutritional yeast at a single meal) you're already familiar with the TECHNICOLOR, DAY-GLO pee that results!

Being as nutritious as it is, flaxseed oil may be giving your body more of whatever compounds cause the smell and the color, than it needs and is able to take up, so it's actually GOOD that your system is doing what it's supposed to, and handling it in the easiest, fastest, safest way possible: sending it out an "out hole!"

Also, it's probably not rancid yet (you would taste/smell it in the product itself), but you can keep it fresh longer by storing it in the fridge, if this is not something you are doing already.

I've never had that experience with the flax, but have with the fish oils. I now take Carlson fish oil, it's like $30 a big bottle and I keep it in the fridge----it is lemony and good enough to use it on your salad, which I do. Interesting reaction to the flax, though!

Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps.

I'll apologize in advance if this is too personal a question for anyone. Here's the problem: I used to take Fish oil supplements for my Omega 3 but have switched over to Flax. I'm so glad to get away from the repeating taste of fish after taking them but I noticed my urine has a very strong, "funny" smell to it and is very yellow, even when I know I'm drinking enough water.

Has anyone else had this reaction to flax seed omega supplements? The bottle says they expire January 2017 - I was afraid they were becoming rancid. No other side effects other than this strong smell.

Thanks in advance, Pat
