I did a "cleanse/detox" type thing earlier this year. It wasn't too extreme or crazy I just cut out: caffeine, alcohol, added sugar, soy, animal products and gluten. So you live on beans, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits and gluten free grains. I was able to go about 5 days and lost 4 lbs - a glass of wine and homemade cheeseless pizza was my downfall. I need to do this again.
The only things I added back to normal levels were alcohol and gluten I'll have the occasional soy and sweet treat.
I think cleanse means different things to different people. You'll have the people that will do only juice or some sort of concoction for days. It's probably OK to do a juice feast once in a while (and would consider it if I had a juicer) but I don't think it would be healthy to do them all the time, and definitely no master cleanse type things. That's my 2 cents anyway.
