The next meeting of the Phoenix Book Club will be Monday, March 4 at 7:00 PM at Phoenixville Public Library. The book discussed will be “All the Pretty Horses” by Cormac McCarthy. A copy of the book may be reserved at the Library or online at www.ccls.org. The Library will screen the 2000 film version of McCarthy’s novel on Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 PM. Phoenixville Public Library will host an interactive Reiki presentation on Thursday, March 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Maura McConnell-Sands and Dorothy Laskey, Reiki Masters, will be the presenters. Reiki, meaning "universal life energy" in Japanese, is a centuries-old healing technique most commonly facilitated by light touch. It has been found effective for promoting relaxation; reducing stress; encouraging the balancing of mind, body, and spirit; and strengthening the body's ability to heal itself. This presentation for all ages will explain the system of Reiki and include free mini Reiki sessions.

Chesco Pops Tickets Now Available at Phoenixville Public Library - - Tickets are now available at Phoenixville Public Library for The Chester County Pops Orchestra’s concert at the Phoenixville Area Middle School, 1330 Main St., Phoenixville, on Saturday, January 26, at 3:00 pm. A percentage of ticket revenues will be donated to the Library.



Tickets are also available online and at the door. Prices are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors; $5 for students and free to children 12 and under.

Classical Guitarist Brad Rau to Perform at Phoenixville Public Library - - - Phoenixville Public Library will present classical guitarist Brad Rau in recital on Tuesday, February 12 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. A faculty member of the Community Music School in Trappe, Brad will perform works by Bach, Mozart, Giuliani, Granados, and Satie.



Brad Rau received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Classical Guitar at West Chester University in 2005. Since then, he has studied privately with Eliot Fisk from New England Conservatory, Marco Pereira of University of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Eden of Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), and with world-renowned, award-winning guitarist Eduardo Isaac. He has performed in master classes with Michael Chapdelaine of University of Texas, Jason Vieaux of Cleveland Institute, and lutenist Richard Stone of the baroque orchestra Tempesta di Mare. In 2008 he was a semi-finalist in the International Texas Guitar competition.

February Movie Night at Phoenixville Public Library - "A Tale of Two Cities" ------- The next Movie Night at Phoenixville Library is Thursday, February 14 at 7:00 PM. “A Tale of Two Cities” (1935, not rated PG, running time 126 min.) will be shown. Ronald Colman and Basil Rathbone star in this lavish production of Charles Dickens’ novel. During the French Revolution, a dissolute lawyer defending an émigré against charges of spying against England falls in love with the man’s fiancée and agrees to help her save him from the guillotine after he is captured by Revolutionaries in Paris.



This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The Phoenix Book Club will be discussing Charles Dickens' novel at the Library on Monday, February 4 at 7:00 PM.
