I'm a former prison guard n liseced to carry a firearm in 34 states(I'm always safe) lol but I do know what ya mean and im not far from struble trail at all (i apss it everyday on way home from work could be a good thing. let me know
i'm definitely up for a get together in a public place. Being safe isn't weird, it's smart. Maybe we could combine it with a walk? Valley Forge Park or Struble Trail both have walking paths and picnic spots.
A sticky topic is something that a leader can put a "sticky note" on and keep the conversation on top of the pile, as it were.
as for the walks, I'm leaning towards Sundays, which are tough b/c of church and family stuff or on Friday or Saturday evenings, now that summer is here. (I work from 8-4:30 on Saturdays.)
I would like maybe to have a welcome to summer/chester county team get together lunch/dinner thing. What do you guys think? Potluck or going out? I would prefer meeting in a more public place b/c of saftey. Is that weird?
whats a sticy topic? I rhink we all need to get together and get this done(monthly walks should be a must) dig in and offer sugestions when you think they would help(or are asked for.) I'm open to whatever anyone thinks will work. what level of support does each member need and how can we make sure they get it? all for one and one for all here how bout it ? jump in anytime lol lets get-r-done huh ? looking forward to talking to y all later
i also tried to schedule a transitional clothing swap previously. Only one person responded. Maybe with you as our leader, we could try again. No sense buying new clothes every time you hit a new size.
I appriceate you and the others that do post; I hope my sad plea isn't taken the wrong way. I know how it is with checking at work, that's were I ofen post myself. I work saturdays too, but sundays are so busy, I'm not near a computer often.
I know it gets crazy with the walks and how they conflict with the everyday life. I still like the idea and I like the idea of a healthy potluck. How often does everyone want to meet for walks? how about for a potluck? Maybe we could do one every 6 weeks?
Iíve been around and need to get back on track myself. My dh and I were looking at the Y near me, but one of the reasons I havenít signed up for a membership is because I am afraid Iíll pay for something I wonít use.
Iím sorry to hear about your heart attacks. Iím afraid of something like that happening to me. I donít blame you for waiting for weighting to lose the weight and quitting smoking. Both take a lot of work and perseverance. Iím currently above 300, and I would like to be around 145 or so.
I personally have a looooooooooooooooooooog way to go to lose the weight. I need help to and Iím willing to help you and anyone else on the team. I totally understand and agree with what you mean, each person is responsible for losing their weight, but it is so nice to have the support, especially from people close by. Thatís one of the original reasons I was looking for people in Chester County. I am fairly new to the area and donít have the strong local support of friends that I would normally have if I stilled lived where I grew up.
Rich, it sounds like you are frustrated with the team and lack of response. I understand and REALLY DONíT WANT YOU TO DROP US!!! We need you!
Guys, he does have a point . . .. we have 25 members on this team and there is little interaction. I have 2 jobs and still make it a point to come on everyday. Yeah, I know, I am the leader, but I am a bit frustrated myself because thereís not many people posting on the boards and I need help
Okay, enough of my sad plea. Iím trying to sound like I am lecturing. Thatís far from it. Iím just need a hug!!!
Rich, what kind of support would you like to see from the team?
As some of you know I'm 45 and live near HoneyBrook I've been away form spark people for awhile and needed to get back on track. Had a membership at the local"Y" but i gave it up(wasn't using it ). I've had two Heart Attacks(both related to my weight and the fact that I smoke)I also have a defibrillator put in back in Feb of 06). Here's the deal. I've got a chance to have it taken out but I don't want to til I've at least lost the weight I need to and hopefully have quit smoking by then as well. I'm currently at 300 lbs. and want to get down to 225 by christmas. The BMI index says I'll be in a healthy range at 179 lbs( I think thats to light for me but what do I know? Anyhow I'm looking to lose 75 lbs in about 5 months or so and I need help( I know I'll be the one who's responsible for my own well being and me alone but help is always nice too I understand if I fail its me and only ... whose game? Any takers? I would be more then willing to help anyone I could in any way I could. We have 25 members on this team last time I checked and to be very frank I would hate to see it drop to 24 because I didn't take serious something as important as this. Sorry if this sounds like a plea(it is) and sorry if it sounds so serious(it is) and the old saying 'I'm not doing this (or here) for my health' has never been further from the truth. Because I'm here and doing this for my health. I do have a lighter side to me honest lol I'm fun to be around and I've got (from what I'm told) a good sense of humor. Anyone interested or have any suggestions I'm all ears and very grateful and appreciative. I look forward to hearing from anyone and everyone soon. Anyone else in same boat as me ? Let me know
Thanks for taking the time to read and perhaps reply.
