I'm trying but i keep failing. Maybe I'm not vested enough in this thing. I want to lose weight. I know I'd feel healthier, more energetic if I lose weight but I can't seem to stick it out.

I'm becoming quite discouraged.

We all fall off the wagon at some time or another. Just try your best to get back on. Keep moving and chase that wagon until you start seeing progress. It is never too late to get back on.

I've fallen off the wagon. The wagon is moving away and i'm still on the ground. Why the hell can't I stick to this? I'm putting on weight again.

Girl, how do you manage to lost 2.6 pounds in a week? I cant' get the scale to move!! I'm not as diligent as I should in tracking the calories in my nutrition tracker but I count calories all the time. I checked out the scale and it doesn't seem to have a problem. Still, the scale is stuck. Give me some tips.

Hey guys!!

Happy to see this topic picked up!

Still trucking!
Had an emotional setback this week but still lost 2.6lbs.

Down to 276.4 and thinking I may have found a calorie and exercise groove that works for me! 14.6lbs, almost 8 of which were in March alone. Progress is possible!!

Welcome new ladies! All the best.

Hi ladies, I am new to sparkpeople and thought I would find a Caribbean team, although not sure how active this one is. I am hoping to get some motivation to stick to my workouts and eating better. I have also struggled with eating sweets and used to be 170lbs when I was younger but managed to slim down by breaking some bad habits and exercising. I have since become a lot lazier and bad habits have begun to creep up again so I am trying really hard to not return to where I was. I find the best way to kick the cravings it to really try to go cold turkey - I think I have a sugar addiction so I will really crave sweets at times. However, I gave them up for lent and having another reason to refrain from eating them really helped me to kick the habit. Hopefully we can motivate each other to get to where we want to be :)

I managed to exercise on Monday and on Tuesday. It was so good and rewarding because I really had to make the effort. I have made a commitment to exercise 6 days a week - walking, Taebo, and Pilates - and I plan to stick to that.

Feeling pretty good today.

Hey,

Still here working on it.
Weight is doing some funny stuff but Im not sure if I should be worried.
Cycle is due to start in a couple days so Im not sure if the 2lbs im up is due to that or the increased calories that my trainer suggested but it does make me stressed and worry that Im doing something wrong.

Tired of worrying. Just one of those down days I guess.

Hope you have a good day though. All the best.

You are right about it being harder when there are children in the house. I bought one of those packages of digestive cookies that has the 12 little packets inside. I ate about 8 out of the 12 over a two-day period. It's bare greediness. So now, I've resolved to buy the individual packets.

It's been two days since my last cookie. I'm facing withdrawal symptoms here but I'm determined to stick it out.

You're surprised how little you were eating? I'm surprised how much the little I was eating was piling on big calories.

Nice to have you here Charisunny. Enjoy your day.

Honestly my solution was simple yet drastic: if I don't buy them, they're not in the house, can't eat them . Walking past supermarket shelves is a task. I want some damn oatmeal cookies soooooo bad or a peanut butter cookie. I mean can a fat chick get one oreo?!! But no I walk away.

Now I imagine its harder if you have kids. I have a mom with a major sweet tooth but hell cuttin back on ths sugar couldn't hurt her so I still didn't buy them.
Healthy snacks? And I don't mean fruit. Face it a banana aint a cookie so maybe bran cookies? In Jamaica we have natural made no preservative cookies that are surprisingly tasty. Its a small part of the cookie shelf so loook reeeaaal close.

Buy single servings not the whole tray of Chips Ahoy. Kill the craving and move on. I feel for gummies so I buy 1 of my fave flavours from the cashier counter and not the whole thing from the isle.

Besids that write everything down. I was surprised to see how LITTLE I was eating when it was in black and white and I was ashamed :( Maybe you won't want those snacks when you see all you've eaten this far.

Good luck babes, hope it helps

I ate too much over the weekend and I did not get much exercise. I finally faced one important fact. The reason why my weight is climbing is that I am eating too much. I just did not notice it before because I do not have large meals. The problem is the snacks _ light snacks that are heavy on the calories. I love snacks - cakes, Cheetos, cheese and olives, cookies - they taste way better than food. So now I am getting focused on the real problem. The question is - How do I get off the snacks?

Hey Avvy,

Honestly I don't know what to do as far as being supportive but I'm here. I imagine if I'm present then I can't get completely unmotivated and run away from the process as fast as my aching hips will take me.

So I get up, eat a meal, head to the gym and post on here hoping to keep my head in a good place and trying to stick with it.

I feel if I can do that with my depression, anxiety and all my medical problems somebodys gotta feel like they can do it too.

I have been on and off SparkPeople for a couple years now and never really made a committment to losing weight. I used to exercise a lot and eat what ever I want but, you know, a slowed metabolism and three children has really changed my body. I watched my weight creep up to 140, 150, 160 and then suddenly 174. Now my knees ache and I get breathless much faster. So yes, now I'm actively trying. I welcome the company of my fellow Caribbean Sparkers and look forward to supporting each other on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

...Or is it kinda backburnered?
Just kinda looking for the activity, support and accountability.

Looking through this small Caribbean community and not seeing ppl on specific tracks toward progress.

Where yall at? Are you on a program (workout a certain number of times a week, eating sensibly)? If so what is it? Let's find common ground.
