Hi Vicky. I opted to do CE instead of P90X cos that one looked too intense and complicated for me at the time. I really love the weights and the muscle definition you get with her training. I've done some of the workouts some of the time with the resistance bands and that's nothing to laugh about. When I first started working out (P90 was my first!) I used the bands that came with the program cos I didn't have any weights and I tell ya! They work just as well as weights imho.

Good luck choosing your next workout!

I had to take an entire course on resistance bands when I was doing my Pilates training, so I have a healthy respect for the suckers. I like the tube style with handles best, but the plain, wide ones are more convenient for travel.

Anyone who has done Body Revolution (or at least bought the program): did Gaiam send you the black cable with hook-style handle, or some shoddy replacement? I got the lame-o sub, and was SO disappointed because the 3/4 handle one looks cool, and I didn't (still don't!) have one already. BOO.

Terrie, knowing you, you'll tie the bands ONTO the weights to make it just that much more crazy...

Bands are really intense and are good to use every now and then just to change it up. I used to be like that about the bands too...I thought I was too good for them. I am going to use the bands with weights next week because I do not have heavier weights and some of the exercises need more resistance. I can just use my mind but I wanted to see how it is like to use bands and weights.

I will admit that I've been a bit of a snob up until late about bands. Just never really felt that I could get the same workout with them as with free weights. Then came 4 trips in two weeks time frame and working out in hotel rooms. I took 2 bands and Tony Horton's Power 1/2 Hour series with me (OLD SCHOOL here!) and did the Arm Toner workout with the bands. Ohhh, myyyy, myyyy! I felt that the next day! I now have a whole new respect for bands. I also did the Combat from Les Mills Pump in the hotel room. It doesn't take a lot of space (just watch your kicks and punches - and jumping if you're not on the 1st floor, don't do it late at night when people might be trying to sleep) and it was a great 45 minute cardio, even on carpet.

One of the women who does the band mods, Donna, totally blows me away. I can't believe she was 60 when these videos were filmed -- she looks AMAZING! I hope staying active and eating plants helps me age half that well.

Also, re: Pump, BodyPump is fun but I don't like group fitness classes unless I'm in charge, so I think I would LOVE the at-home program.

I've not done the whole Chalene Extreme (first month, then surgery, then a move, etc), but there is also the option to do the band. After doing Slim in 6 with the band, when I pull CX back out, I'm going to try it with the band and hope that it helps with my back issues as well. (The band does come with the program when you order it and there is one person who uses the band).

I have been looking at that Les Mills...I do want to give that one a try. But I am going to wait a bit because the TF and CX I am doing now will take me to the end of the year then I am going to do Insanity, Brazil Butt Lift then P90X. I would think I should be in great shape after doing all of those!

I have Chalene Extreme, but to be completely honest, it's based on low reps, heavy weights and that just didn't feel good on my lower back. Each person is different, but the program's emphasis is to "fail" - to use the heaviest weight that you can do only 6 - 8 reps with. I have lower back weaknesses so even bicep curls with that heavy of weight would, by the end of the reps, be putting too much strain on my back. I like heavy weights for deadlifts, rows, squats, lunges, etc, but nothing that requires my lower back to withstand strain. I've found that Les Mills Pump is more to my liking because it's the opposite - high reps, low weight and you can increase the weight very easily as you gain strength. And the music is AWESOME (and the eye candy on stage isn't bad either LOL)!

Everything Terrie said, plus that it's way more challenging and interesting than the Sculpt and Tone TurboFire workouts, which I never really saw any improvement with (and not for lack of trying.)

Give it a go -- you will DEFINITELY get stronger on CLX.

Yes there is a modifier in ChaLean Extreme. I like CX because it is strength training and it gets my heart rate up. Chalene is so positive and upbeat. She is one of my favorite trainers. The program runs anywhere for 30-40 minutes so far. I am only on day 7 of the program. I am doing ChaLean Extreme along with TurboFire. I have not found any drawbacks to the program at all so far. The exercises are hard but not too intense in my opinion.

If you have another questions just ask!

I'm already starting to think about what I want to do for my next program. Was thinking about Chalene Extreme. Is there a modifier in these workouts? I'm 226 and I'm found Shaun R's Rockin Body right now. What are the benefits of Chalene? Drawbacks?
