i got it!! i was leafing through my july bicycling magazine and saw a familiar face! the magazine is mostly about female riders and highlights womens bikes, gear ect. there are a few other women who share thier goals and biking experiences. i thought it was good, highlighting the average people, not just the elites. Nice photo by the way, you should ahve been on the cover emoticon

I have not seen it but I should. I have not watched any cycling movies since I started biking again. Maybe I should rent one this weekend. Might have a completely different impact on me now. :)

Susan Sarandon & Tom Hanks? Yeah I could see that. :-)

Speaking of movies and cycling, has anyone seen The Flying Scotsman about Graeme Obree? It's in very limited release right now. We need some more good cycling movies. Honestly, how many times can I watch Breaking Away and American Flyers? many, many times.

I've been thinking of who could play me. I've always liked Meg Ryan but I'm not cutsie enough so it wouldn't be very accurate. And none of the sexy or sophisticated ones would do. :) I was thinking maybe Helen Hunt or how about Susan Sarandon?

Erik wants Tom Hanks to play him. :)

ooooh, I love Gillian Anderson. Maybe it could be a Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny reunion. Duchovny could play Mr. Kelowna!

A lady I work with gets Bicycling. I'll ask her if she got the special section. I'd still like to see it.

The article wasn’t what you expected. In fact it reads like one big ad but look at the upside! You are featured in an article in Bicycling magazine! That’s pretty darn cool. We can’t claim that 15 minutes of fame. This may lead to the Lifetime true-life movie: The _____ story: Laughing at Hills. Gee! Who should start as Barb? Gillian Anderson?

Well... I thought that somewhere on here I whined about it but... they turned it into a depressing "Makeover" article that was primarily for advertising bucks AND since it was geared towards women, they only included it in subscriptions in a female name (which means we didn't get a copy!!). A friend scanned my "page" for me and I have a jpg which I will go put on my sparkpage if you like. It has a teeny picture of me, a somewhat inaccurate profile (the local hill has not defeated me 3 times, I have never walked my road bike up a hill, and I do not have cheater pedals on my bike any more), and there's a big photo of a model who has all the right gear I need to reach my goals. Uh huh, if I spend money, I can climb better? WTF? What about training? And not only that, other than the bike, my gear is better than all the stuff they recommended.

There is also a simplified version of the "article" on the Bicycling website (See the link below.) It doesn't have the model's picture though. (I am "Kill the Climbs")

Famous for being a '"mature, beginner" cyclist that is...

Last month I was interviewed by Bicyling Magazine for a special July women's issue. This morning, they emailed to say I was going to be one of the 5 women profiled! My dh and seriosu cycling friends are going to be so jealous. My family thinks it's pretty funny since I have been so unathletic my whole life (BB - Before Biking). Now I'm trying to remember what dumb things I might have said and hope I don't look like too much of a noob... ;)

It's never too late to be who you might have been.
