I sing on the bike, too. I used to sing while kayaking. I think it's the rhythm that brings out the music.

Downhill skiing, when I'm turning fairly rapidly, gets accompanied by the Barenaked Ladies' "Never Enough." It times the pole-plants perfectly. And I'm usually going fast enough that no one can hear my horrible singing voice. emoticon

I'm a "closet" singer but enjoy breaking into song sometimes when biking solo down our country roads with no one around.

No threat of rain today, heavy fog but it was well above me, so I got a very good ride in today. Must have beat the birds out of bed as didn't hear them sing, so I sang for them, good thing I was out on country roads....lol (hmmm maybe I scared the birds away)....:0)

Never apologize for riding in the rain. And never fear it. Here is Velominati's Rule #9 for you viewing pleasure:

Rule #9: If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.

Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.

You may say I'm a dreamer...but I'm not the only one...

Those itty bitty road bike tires are actually better in the rain than knobby mountain bike tires. They have a continuous grip on the asphalt. So long as you keep your center of gravity lined up and you stay off anything painted on the road surface - that stuff is slippery as snot when wet - you'll be fine.

Of course, if you're running commuter tires on your mountain bike, you've already got the advantage of continuous contact, and my post is meaningless.

A squirrel ran right in front of me. I'm not sure how I missed it but it scared both me and the squirrel half to death.

Also today was the first time I've ridden my road bike in the rain. That was not the plan but that's what happened. I've ridden the mountain bike in all kinds of conditions but those itty bitty road bike tires and rain have always scared me. It turned out ok though.

OMG OMG OMG - I saw two white-tail deer - a six-point and an eight-point - on my ride into work this morning. This was in town, in a light industrial area next to the river. I'm still stunned and puzzled how they got here. (A few years ago, a moose fell into a large irrigation canal north of town.)

It as only in the mid-70s this morning, and no wind.

It's been awfully cool for July ... Staying in the 70s all week here, very strange. Not that I'm complaining! :-)

My ride today was a rather cool one for July, only 50 degrees this morning, feels like it should be September or October, not complaining though, enjoyed the ride.

Mine aren't daily, but I love riding through the park, it just smells SO GOOD!

Today my friend and I went to our local bike trail that follows a meandering stream. We brought our water shoes and just enjoyed walking in the cool water and talking. All because of a bike...

My commute takes me through a couple of local trails along the river and the vistas of waterways either filtered through the trees or sprawling out ahead of the city. So many forms of wildlife including birds, ducks, geese, woodchucks, squirrels and people smiling as they walk or jog along. Is there any better way to start one's day? :-)

Today my 6 a.m. ride was just a great ride, the birds were singing their beautiful songs, the sun was shining, Traffic was not bad, I ride country roads when I can. There was a strong odor evidence of skunks being out in abundance, but grateful I never seen them.
