Bill - Mechanical issue get all of us from time to time.


End of October bike Summary.

I exceeded my target by 56 miles.

Rain kept me off the road Tuesday and Wednesday this week. I know better than to ride on Halloween. 3 days off my trike did me good. I have developed a bit of a hostile warrior mentality as a result of jerks and idiots riding and yelling as I ride.

For November, I vow to ride "happy" and hope to hit a mileage target of 350 miles. Monthly target is lower due to expected cooler weather. I will re-evaluate this target mid-month.

The plan was to bike 55 miles today. First off, I had a flat before I got started. Fixed the flat and after 13 miles, the rear derallieur became stuck on something that resulted in it tearing apart an taking with it the chain. Could not finish my ride.

4MEHEALTH--do you use cycling gloves? If not, give them a try--that might help with numbness. Or maybe if you are wearing gloves, the pads are worn out. I recently bought new gloves after getting tingling in my hands and that did the trick.

My goal is just 1% this month--most of my weekends are already booked with other activities, so its going to be hard to get on the cycle.

You might be putting too much pressure on your hands. Try moving them around the handle bars.

You may need to slowly build up the amount to time you're spending in the saddle to let your body adjust.

Why do my hands go numb and what can I do to stop it?

The Martian Death Flu has released its grip on my body. I rode my bike yesterday for the first time in 10 days. (Heck, to me, that's an eternity!)

I'll shoot for 200 miles. I rode into work today, so here are my numbers:

10,000 miles is the Team's monthly goal. What % of that goal can you reach in a given month? To get it going, I'm gonna shoot for 10% of the Team's goal. That will put me at 1,000 miles for the month. So, each time I cycle, I will log in what I biked, what my cumulative total is, and how much remains before reaching my goal. Example: I rode 35 miles and have 1,000 miles as my goal, 35 / 35 / 965. Good luck.
