Maria I'm in San Antonio, TX. We don't GET your weather down here. ;) We're actually more concerned with the heat so we have talked about getting a little battery operated fan to put in it for her. We get cool about late October or sometimes not even until late DECEMBER and then we will look at some warmer options. As for the rain, well we have been getting rain lately but we don't ride in the rain because down here everyone forgets how to drive the minute water fall from sky. :)

We have a little bag we are going to put all of her stuff in for her to take. She has her little favorite toys, my old iPhone which has her pictures she loves on it, her lemonade, some snacks, and we will probably throw in a few of her fave board books. I'm more worried about ME! *rofl*

I have a via velo bike trailer that I have my little guy in, he is two and at first he really loved it but now it's kind of a hit or miss. He really likes to get out of it and just walk so we do that too half the time. I think maybe that I need to put more in there to entertain him. At the moment he has water, his stuffed animal, and a few little puzzle toys. I think I might add some books in there and maybe some snacks. (still in the process of figuring it out) A tip I have is to spray it with a water resistant solution if you are going to use it in the rainy and cold winter days that are coming up. I live in Alaska and it has been raining non stop here so that would be a good investment. I also got fenders to protect me and lessen the spray on the trailer and I always carry felt blankets in it to keep him warm and don't forget a helmet for your little one! Good luck!

p.s.Anyone have any other good tips for cycling with a trailer in the snowy winters?? I am going to start riding through the winters with the trailer and would love to hear any great tips anyone might have! emoticon

Anita I had one of those (on my old road bike) for my oldest. She will be 21 in December, so you aren't sounding old at all. There were NO bike trailers back in the early 1990s! However the mountain bikes we all have now won't work with the carriers. We've tried them. So the trailer is what we will be using. Now if we could only hook up and go. :p

Ok I do not want to sound old but.. when my daughter was a baby bike trailers where just coming out.. or not so popular it was the bike seat in the back that looked like a car seat.. so I put my road bike away purchased what was called then an ATB which was the early stages of a Mt bike and I rode with that.. first of all she loved it.. we went to the bike trail all most every night (that is because she slept on the way home LOL) I would think like someone said it is getting use to having the weight behind you. for me the bike seat on the back of the bike was not so bad.. yes extra weight but ride was good too.
Good luck enjoy.. and have fun that is what is all about right?

Thanks. We still haven't had a chance to use it but I think we will this week at some point. I'm still trying to figure out how to really put it on my bike. :) I think it will be fun and since she is so excited about getting in it we will see if that excitement lasts.

My daughter is now 9 so it has been a while since we have used the bike trailer. For you - it will take a while to get use to the extra weight of pulling the trailer and your daughter - short slow routes will help you build up your strength. Just think of is as extra exercise :) For your daughter, make sure that she has some water in the trailer, a favorite stuffed animal for company and she should be fine. The children love the ride!

Hi all! I know I've not been around in a LONG while but I've not been on my bike in a LONG while either. This week we were gifted a new bike trailer so I'm wondering if you have any tips for using this? Sophia is almost 3 and has never been in one but loves going for rides in the little wagon at my parents' house and is super excited about getting in her 'bike wagon' to go on some rides with the family. I'm really out of bike shape and I know this is going to take some work on my part. Just need tips! Thanks!
