I mountain bike most of the time. We have a wonderful trail, that our local club works hard to keep clear and it rides like a proverbial roller coaster. It isn't far from the house, so I often head to the trail. We also have excellent trails...Oak Mountain (site of the recent X-Terra event) and Coldwater (which would unhinge the best of riders, as it is that good). If I can't get to the trail or weather is not permitting, I mountain bike half of our 3.5 acres. I've got my husband talked into making trails hugging our hill, for me to cycle on, in our woods. When, friends want to road bike, I'll do it...but love the woods/ trails/ old roads. We recently helped with a 62 mountain bike event and one of the fellows who did it last year is currently doing the Ride the Great Divide. It keeps me at least feeling young.

There's a "natural area" nearby that has a good trail system in it. It's not technical, but it's far more exciting that riding forest roads. I love riding there. I feel pretty fortunate to have such a resource so nearby!
Hi all, I'm new to the group and ride both road and off-road. It's difficult to be really good at both in the same season because they're actually pretty different, so this is a Summer Of The Mountain Bike! Just wondering if anyone else is tearing up the trails.
On the other hand, we just got a friend her first bike (it's a road bike) about six weeks ago, and she's all hard-core already so I get to join her on the pavement.
