It is good to see that there are several bent riders here!

On a the flats, I have found that I can really build up some speed. The aerodynamic advantages of my trike have been a lot of fun. . .

I ride a Trisled that I purchased used from a friend. I'm okay with the hill climbing capacity of my trike once I developed my trike climbing muscles. For all of you who can't afford a trike, I suggest you keep an eye on Craig's List for used trikes. I paid $1200 for my trike and that included a trailer hitch and a faring. Check out my Sparkpeople page for a picture of my trike with faring and trailer.

i'm riding a sidewinder (front wheel drive ,rear wheel steering) trike with an electric assist hub motor on the rear wheel to help me get up those hills. our dog also provide extra pulling power. the trike is excellent off road with the capacity for all three wheels providing traction to the ground. the sidewinder is a folding trike so I can transport it on a standard bike hitch rack.

Good point - Trikes are tough to transport. One of mine is a folder. Much easier to haul around.

I hear the Catrike 700 is the fastest bent trike made. I bought my wife a used KMX Cobra. She loves it, but because of health problems doesn't ride it much. I ride it twice a week. Lot of fun but sucks on the hills. Would like to get and Ice trike, they fold up.

Trikes are really fast on the flats! Like you said, the wind in much diminished.
Got to watch the turns - flipped mine several times.
Hills though - Very very tough.

I have to say the hills are wicked. I am working on developing a proper cadence and getting my trike adjusted.

One amazing thing. . . . . Riding in the wind is no problem.

Wish I could join the ' bent fun as since starting Coumadin I'm WAY too paranoid to use my 2-wheeled ride. A tri-bent would afford more stability and I would consider getting back out on the road again. My wallet just couldn't swing the expense, tho.

KCNEWK,
Not my main ride, but I have two recumbent trikes and a recumbent bike.
Glad you love it! How about hills? Rough, eh?

Bob

Is anyone else here sporting a tricycle or recumbent bike as their main bike this year?

I purchased a 2012.5 Catrike 700 tricycle and am loving the ride!
