I am re-posting this from another thread so that folks can reference "WarmShowers" more readily:

I spoke with a number of WarmShowers hosts this past summer and had them all lined up for a tour for a buddy of mine and I to up to the 1,000 Islands area of upstate New York State. However never got to complete the tour due to health problems cropping up for my buddy and not feeling "seasoned" enough to do it alone. The people I spoke to were very courteous & understanding...also cyclists themselves.

I think there is much potential for touring through the use of WarmShowers and a wonderful community to join and look forward to hosting cyclists myself at some point.

Here is the link to their website:

I highly recommend joining if bicycle touring is in your future! Hotel bills are prohibitive and you're missing out on meeting great people! Plus, offering to HOST cyclists can be fun and enlightening also.

If anyone has any experience using WarmShowers please share them with us at this message thread.
