Thank you all for your inputs. Today I made the plunge and bought the bike. Should be ready to ride either late this afternoon or early tomorrow morning. After having heard from many of you about bike fittings, I'm going on Friday to be fitted on my new bike. So, my Campy components and SRM power meter are being transferred over from my Cervelo Rs. I'm having a new chain and cassette installed. Can't wait to try it out for my Thursday hills workout. HOOAAA!!

Before I make a major bicycle related purchase I ask myself if the purchase will make bicycling more useful, convenient, or enjoyable. The price of a frame does not give it value; what it adds to our cycling gives it value. Will you get $2,300 of additional use or enjoyment out of your purchase? Every time I ask myself if I should get a bike I think of other things that would have a higher return on my cycling dollar. Cyclists hit the point of diminishing returns long before most of them realize.

I've been eye-balling and drooling over the Cervelo R5. I currently own a Cervelo RS and recently sold (on E-Bay) my Cervelo R3. However, the price tag for the frame only is at $4,900. To me, that's a bit much. So here I am, innocently visiting my LBS and what do I see?? A used 51CM Cervelo R5. As I inspected the frame, I couldn't help but notice that it appeared brand new. I asked the LBS staff for some information and they indicated that the owner bought a Cervelo 5CA ( $9,500 frame only) and was selling this frame. He went on to say that the owner was a fanatic for keeping his bikes immaculate. The price....$2,300. Needless to say, I'm seriously considering purchasing that "puppy" and transferring the components from one bike to the other. I do have $$ in the E-Bay "diddy bag" for the bike. So, my learned buddies. What say you??
