Most of my bike rides are over 2 hours - sometimes up to 6 hours. I only use the tracker as a guide. I keep a more elaborate spreadsheet for my cycling.

You can still track all your minutes but you only get points for a max of 120. If you run a report on your fitness minutes you can see all your minutes. I sometimes fudge a little under what I actually do but I figure I sometimes underestimate my calories in so it all balances out. For example, if I play a round of golf in 4 hours I don't think that should really count as 240 fitness minutes so I usually only count half the time. Regarding Don's question about using the "map my route" option vs recording fitness minutes. I thought the same thing at first when I noticed some days I wasn't getting "credit" for all my minutes but I checked it out and all the minutes are there but I often run into the 120 minute limit for Spark Points.

That's just weird. What would be the advantage of falsely logging 2 hours every single day? Is there some monetary benefit where points are transferable for something of value? Whatever. I'm not worried about it either, but I do think it's a little unfair that people with a certain goal (say, 20,000 minutes in a year - random example) can't accurately track it because of an arbitrary cutoff.

That said, if you did the work, nobody can take it away - you'll just get fewer shiny doodads for your page. emoticon

I don't worry over such things. These folks aren't cheating anyone but themselves. Hopefully they'll figure that out in time.

I've seen those recorded times too, and the times seem a bit bogus when there is never a break for anything. That and the problem of recording all the minutes of the week before they have been ridden... ludicrous.

That's sad. What would be the motivation of someone doing this? Prestige or something? I guess theoretically someone could be doing long slow rides for that long a period of time, but you would think that the duties of life or whatnot would eventually knock one off. I don't get it.

I personally think that SP is trying to limit the abuse. Did you realize that there are folks that have posted 120 minutes every single day for the past several years? Some of these folks make this claim in spite of posting surgeries, illnesses, etc. There's one individual who posted 120 minutes every day on the week that he had open heart surgery. You increase the limit and you'll see the same folks increasing their minutes to whatever the limit is, every day.

I'm not positive about this, but I believe you may get more "credit" if you log your ride in via the Fitness Tracker and put your time in there after you map out your ride.

Perhaps someone can try that on your next ride and see what happens...?

I didn't even realize you got points for minutes. I was looking at the Spark Earth minutes. It doesn't really matter since the object is a healthy me and not credit for what I've done. I just thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks!

Yes, it does figure the calorie count, but you get a max of 24 points daily.

I think this goes hand in hand with the 24 point limit at 1 for every 5 minutes = 120 minutes. You can enter amounts greater than 120 minutes and get the calorie count for them just not the spark points.

2012 Goals:
1. Run 800 miles
6/9/12 - 162 mi

2. Walk 300 miles
6/9/12 - 124 mi

3. Ride 1,900 miles between the trainer and actual road work
6/9/12
326 miles Trainer
522 miles Road

4. Run the 10 mile Lighthouse Run in less than 90'

5. Get my 5K time to less than 25'

6. Complete at least 1 century bicycle ride

7. Complete at least 1 Pull-up

Yes. It is frustrating. There are a lot of days where I'll have long ride or I'll workout more than 120 minutes & it doesn't record any time over that. I don't know if there is a way to get it so it will record. SP has to realize there are times when you workout longer than 120 minutes. We should have all of it count.

Have you noticed that you can only record 2 hours on the fitness tracker? Yesterday I went out on the bike for a little over 3 glorious hours and when I came home and entered it into the tracker it only showed up as 120 minutes. I even tried to enter it as two separate rides and no luck. Anyone else see this?
