Yes, I find even traveling the same roads over which I've driven for years, it is like owning the road in a whole new way!

This weekend we are celebrating our local bike club's senior, most honored member's 79th birthday with a club ride on Saturday. This fellow is "Mr. Bicycle" to our community and has done more than anyone I know to promote cycling in our corner of the world. It will be a pleasure to recognize his ongoing contributions!

Absolutely! I am still amazed by how much more I enjoy seeing my city on two wheels as opposed to two feet or four wheels.

Exploring is good. On two wheels, even better! :-)

On Sunday I went down a route that I like to run on. Did some exploring in one of the nature preserve areas along the path which meant I had a nice mixture of terrain to ride on. It was my first time in there instead of just passing by.

I normally either do an organized ride or a long ride by myself on Saturday. We came back, from a mini vacation on the coast, on Saturday evening. So, I had to do my long ride on Sunday. Sure was hot, but enjoyable. Almost 4 hours on the bike.

I used to do group rides every weekend. I need to find a good group near where I live now though. I have lots of great memories of these rides. We'd usually hammer out 40 miles then go for beer, pizza, and lies afterword.
I got really spoiled for routes from my old berg. We had hundreds of miles of sparsely traveled country highways with good shoulders and quiet winding farm-to-market roads any direction we wanted to go. Now I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands on some rides!
Didn't have time for a long ride this weekend like I planned but I did run some errands on bike that most weekends I'd drive. Doing this always makes me feel good about cycling since I'm actually helping our environment and national security by cycling.

I always say my social life is on two wheels. I ride with my friends every weekend. It's fun to laugh and joke with them as we roll along.

It doesn't matter where we ride. It's always fun!

...and then in the middle of everything, you realize you're alive right now, and the time to live is right now!

I rode my usual trail but rode an extra loop. I only have one day a week to ride and that's usually Sunday. Today I even got stuck by a train. I feel so wonderful out there.

Did you have a great ride this weekend? Do you have a favorite route, or have you discovered a new path? What do you enjoy about weekend rides?

I think that, like lots of people, I have more time to ride on the weekends, and so I tend to explore new/longer paths. This morning, I was struggling (humidity + not fully hydrated) and took it more slowly than usual, but still had a good, peaceful ride along the river. Just me, my trusty steed, and the other early-morning trail users.

What did you do this weekend?
