GL on getting some cooperation from DH! I have too many night time obligations and / or rainy weather...can't seem to get in my 22 mile commute much more than 2-3 times a week.

The energy bars do look great--maybe I can get a batch made this weekend. GladGad--thanks for the review. I'll try adding some sunflower seeds.

I try to ride my bike home 2 days a week--it's 30 miles, so it's a long commute. If I can get DH out the door earlier in the morning he could drop me off about 10 miles from the office and I could cycle to work, too. Gotta work on him.

I made the energy bars last night, and used light agave as the sweetener. They are delicious, but very sweet. I didn't add any nuts, but I think sunflower seeds would go great. I put the following fillers in mine: Oats, Kellogs Crunchy Nut (flakes, not the oat version), mixed dried berries (cherries, cranberries, blueberries), and mini chocolate chips. I think I should have let the goo cool a bit more before pouring because it melted the chips, although now I have a chocolate version, which isn't bad.

Lessons Learned:
1. Look for alternatives to "glue" that aren't quite so sweet
2. I think Rice Krispies would have been a really good cereal to use with this
3. Let the glue cool

Overall these are VERY easy to make and takes maybe 15-20 minutes from start to finish.

Haven't tried 'em but yes, they do look good! On the one hand I'm all about home-cooked foods as opposed to mass-manufactured, however I rarely take time to cook things up. Just slice & dice my freggies and go...! :-)
