2013 Miles

42.2 miles on 1/20. Beautiful January thaw--50 degrees & not a cloud in the sky. But lots of wind. Didn't mind the tail wind, but the ride back was tough--just 7-10 mph. Added 20 lb weights to the trunk case for a great workout.

Final total for 2012 was 5,316.15.. I have chosen to not make any mileage goals for 2013 because I need time to do other forms of exercise. I love cycling but the mileage thing did not leave much time for anything else.

We've had lots of snow at the end of December and I didn't get in any miles. But I am racking them up in spin classes on Wednesday & Thursday. Having a blast with friends on Thursday nights. We're spinning to Spinervals DVDs. They are tough work outs and the competition among friends is fierce. Last night we did 5 repeats of 6 minute all-out effort followed by 2 minutes at a moderate pace, followed with isometric squats off the bike for 2 minutes before getting back on & doing 1 minute sprint intervals. My legs were shaking when I got off the bike.

I am looking forward to riding outdoors to see if the spin classes have built up my endurance. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to ride tomorrow--we're supposed to be in the 50s!

With the weather getting bad here, I only got in 35 miles in December -- three rides were all I could fit in with snow, rain and wind keeping me off the roads. (No stationary bike available.)

However, this is my first year riding, and I'm proud to say from April through December, I rode a grand total of 1163.63 miles! I can't wait to see what I can do in 2013.

238 miles for December bringing me to 1375 for the year. A lot of the December miles were on the stationary bike but I managed to do a lot more real riding than I expected. January will probably be all indoors but I'll keep looking for opportunities to get out and ride.

@KCNEWF - Your mileage totals completely rock! Way to get after it! Sorry to hear about the injury, but don't let it get you down. I've been down this road, too. In 2008 I got clobbered by a car. The bike was toast and I was pretty banged up. If you have access to a stationary bike, that is a great way to keep the strength you have built up this year while you mend. Walking can help keep the legs in shape, too. Keep charging bro!

Good thing I checked my tracker on Friday. My goal was to get in 100 miles in November and discovered I was 8 miles short. Went to the fitness center and got in 11 miles on the stationary bike so I ended up with 103 miles for the month. I'm going to try to shoot for 100 miles in December as well. It will be mostly on the stationary bike but that's OK for me.

2012 biking season is over for me :( I broke my left hand in a bike wreck yesterday. )

It was a fantastic year for biking. I significantly exceeded my mileage goals.

5063 miles on a hard tail mountain bike with a front suspension fork!

I hit 2004 miles a few weeks ago. Would have had more this weekend if I hadn't caught a nasty cold! I'm so bummed. I'm not ready to put the bike on the trainer yet though so hopefully I'll get to squeeze one more ride in before the snow flies!

Only 132 miles for October but with the weather, travel and other challenges I'm pretty happy that I got in some good mileage. This month is off to a good start with a nice 15 mile ride today. My goal for November is to get in some miles at least 3 times a week even if I need to use the stationary bike. I've started upping the intensity on the stationary bike and is it really helping to boost my all around fitness level so I want to keep at it.

I just started riding this summer, but managed to ride 1,050 miles as of the end of October.

My October total was only 202.5 miles, but the weather was uncooperative and I only got in 11 rides for the entire month. Ugh. My longer pants should be in at the LBS this week, so hopefully I can ride as much in November as possible before the snow hits hard.

I'm happy with my progress, though, because my average ride when I started was under 4 miles, and my rides in October averaged over 18 miles per ride.

I have been remiss in posting here for quite some time.

I only rode a total of 1,300 miles this year compared to 3,000 last year. But last year I wasn't running and swimming and training for Triathlon. Most probably the bike is away for the winter unless we get a nice day or 2 here in North Idaho.

For every trip logged, Clif Bar will donate $1 (up to a maximum of $10,000 per month) to a local non-profit bicycle organization. Each month, they choose a different group to support.

I'm still riding my bike to work. That's 20 miles a day, 5 days a week. It has been almost a year and a half.

Just got home from a 6 day self-contained bike tour in the Green Mountains of Vermont (424 miles). Longest day 90 miles, shortest day 58 miles. Carried about 30 lbs of gear on the bike during the trip (credit card touring - B&B to B&B rather than camping).

712.75 miles for August. Wow. First time tracking miles for me and I have surprised myself. I'm a nut. I guesss I average about 20 - 30 miles a day with a couple of long rides a week (working up to a Century). Stll seems like a lot for some 44 year old woman with kids.

August was a good month for me - 289.5 miles for the month and that included not riding to work the last week and a half due to work and family commitments. I'll be back on track this week and see if I can top 300 for the month.

I didn't realize I should be posting my numbers here too. Sorry for letting you all down n terms of contributing mileage. So I'll do the time warp here and get caught up.

A slow start to the year saw 24 miles in Jan, no miles in Feb,42,24,41 in March, April, and May and 108 in June.

Then I started kicking it.

July of 2012 shows 315 miles, and last month I really got on it and surprised myself with 502 miles for the month of August.

9/1 I did 25 and this morning 26.

So far I'm up over 1100 for the year and 2612 since I started riding again on March 27th 2010. My goal at the start of this year was to reach 2500 miles since 2010 by 11/1/2012. Well my new goal is to hit 3000 since I'm at 2612 now. Though if I keep going the way I have, it might be 3500 by year end. The biggest difference in my mileage comes from getting over my issues with my rollers and getting some wonderful Bike-O-Vision DVDs to cycle inside with. Rollers may not do me any good on my biggest weakness, hill attack, but they certainly rock for keeping me rolling. I've also been working on bringing my avg pace up, and going for longer individual rides. I recently completed my first half century in an unimpressive 3:48 on Tuesday, but I did manage it.
