"IF you can be said to be hurrying on a cross-country bicycle trip, for about two weeks I hurried to Pittsburgh. I pushed through some dreary weather in Michigan and Ohio, climbed the roller-coaster foothills of the Appalachians and battled traffic and chewed up roads as I entered the city. From there, though, with the end of a ride that began almost three months ago looming, I slowed down and started on an oblique route home."
And KUDOS to Oregon! "The Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission has unanimously voted to designate five new state scenic bikeways: the Sisters to Smith Rock State Park, Metolius River Loops, McKenzie Pass, Blue Mountain Century, and Old West scenic bikeways. "A section of the Old West overlaps with the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail," Alexandra said. "We're the only state in the country to officially designate scenic bikeways. Oregon is a pioneer in fusing recreation, transportation, and the economic benefits of this kind of tourism." The bikeway program is a partnership involving Cycle Oregon, Travel Oregon, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Learn more at this link:"
