I have a trainer as well. However, I ride outside when ever I can during the winter. If the roads are dry I don't have a problem riding outside - as long as I am dressed for the occasion.... ... and I live in the midwest!!!

Curious to hear how it goes. I only gave my son's Cycleops one whirl and decided the noise and tedium weren't for me. Maybe your experiences might tempt me to snatch my sons from him since he doesn't use it anymore.
My long range plan for winters, since my wallet won't allow for anything SHORT term, is to invest in cross country skis and learn how to use 'em. I've rented and stumbled, but figure it's a great way to get outdoors in the winter. A lot of our bike club members switch over to this in the winter.
Short term? Fitness center workouts and suck it up till spring...ugh!

Groovy! I've lusted over the Cycleops 200e for a couple of years but I simply can't bring myself to spend $1,500+ for just 3 months of down time. Of course, if you look at it as cumulative down time, over the course of many years, I suppose it's a far more reasonable investment.

I took the plunge and got a Cycleops Magneto indoor trainer. seems simple enough. we'll use it and ill give you some feed back. it was about 260.00 but from the reviews I read, it seems to be a solid unit that is functional and will do the job.
riding season is almost over up here so I am going to have to take it indoors!
