When do you plan on being in the area? I stay with my parent's during the work week & regularlly ride Silver Comet after work. Let me know the time frame of when you'll be in the area & would love to get together for a ride.
Hey, Don. Ditto on the trail. I'm about 2 hours away. Our corporate office is in Smyrna, GA and about 8 miles away from the trail.
I was there to do a server install and got the chance to ride it for the first time in May. It was great! Just don't be deceived by the seemingly flat terrain as your journey progresses. When you're making your return, you realize your blazingly amazing time was only such because there was a minute grade working in your favor.
I'm sure you'll love it!

BINGO! I live about 1 1/2 hours away from the trail.
When are you going to be there? The Chattanooga Bike Club has an overnight trip on the Silver Comet Trail on the 8th and 9th of October. We will be riding it one way on Saturday, spend the night in a hotel, and ride it back on Sunday. It's an annual thing. Usually, we ride from Smyrna, GA to Anniston, AL. This year, there's talk about doing it backwards, starting in Anniston.
Let me know when you'll be down here. If I can fit it into my schedule, I'll drive down and ride with you. (and maybe bring some friends.)
...and then in the middle of everything, you realize you're alive right now, and the time to live is right now!
I'm going to be spending some time soon with family down Marietta way and lo & behold I discover there is what seems to be an AWESOME rail-trail that extends over 100 miles across the top of Georgia on into Alabama! I'm hoping to rack up some great times getting out in the mornings while in the area. If anyone cares to join me, catch up via SparkMail and let's see if we can make it happen!
More about the trail, which is the LONGEST paved, multi-use trail in the USA!
