I love the last line in this quote.it is so true! I woke up tody to see a fresh coat of snow. I could hear the rain hit the roof as I fell asleep last night, ig must have changed after midnight, but the sun is shining, it won't last long, but more in the forecast for Wednesday. Doesn't look like the bike will get out of the garage.

I am lucky enough to be living in SW Florida, and never really had to stop, although a pretty cold Fl winter did slow me down some.
I was able to get 18 plus MTB miles today at my club's trails...my HRM calls it about 1950 calories...a pretty brisk pace for me. Took a fall in the first 3 miles in the rock garden and didn't realize how sore I was till I lifted the bike onto Yakima roof rack. Ouch!
I remember how desperate I would get when living in the Northeast to get out and p ut some miles on! Keep the faith, warmer weather is on the way for sure!

It's suicide gray, cold, and penetratingly damp here in OH-IO. Off to the gym.

i'll ride if it gets 50 or above but i think today it's going to be 40 degrees only and prolly chilly for the next week but I got a new bike rack last night. the xport hitch one for 2 bikes. it seems pretty good, just installed it this morning on my car so i'm excited about that. One of the main reasons I didn't like going out to trails to bike was setting up my old rack, not it'll be simple.

I just might visit Oregon some day on two wheels but it will most likely be two wheels and an engine. :-) I am in the market for a motorcycle. So - chances are I will not be 25 pounds lighter.

Yep, you're right - not Nova Scotia, but the Southern Oregon Coast. I heard the two share two things in common: a spectacularly beautiful coastline and incredibly friendly people. I hope to visit some day - hopefully on two wheels and 25 pounds lighter!

Roguechip - you sounds so energetic and inspiring, it's pretty obvious you don't live in Nova Scotia.

No riding for me, but maybe a short run with the cold north wind at my back

Don - my mom is 83 years old, and does what she can when it snows (we don't live in the same state). While she is in fabulous shape and is very active, the wet, heavy stuff is not easy for her to shovel. She has a neighbor who will snow blow out her sidewalk and most of her driveway, so I know how much your neighbors appreciate what you did. You're one of the Good Guys!

How kind of you to do your neighbors too! You should tons of Spark points for that. No riding here in OH-IO either. It's a cold, penetrating rain all day. But no snow. I did get out on Friday and Saturday before the weather went away though. First outdoor rides of 2011. Felt great. :)

Today was my first day back in the saddle after several months. Between training for a marathon and short daylight hours, I simply didn't have time. Plus, I desperately needed a refitting as I totally screwed everything up last fall. It took awhile to 1) find someone who would do a real, professional fit, not just a 10 minute glance over, and 2) to get the fitting scheduled. I found a great guy who spent about 1.5 hours with me and only charged me $50!

Anyway I did a very short and easy 11 miles since it was my first time. I still have some residual muscle strain from the marathon which was 3 weeks ago, so I didn't want to push it too hard. I felt fine and very comfortable on the bike. My first tri of the season is in about 2 months, so I have my work cut out for me.

It's a holiday, the sun is shining, and I still need 45 miles to make my February goal. It's forecast to rain and snow through next weekend, so this might be the last chance before March.

So who's with me? Who else is logging some outdoor miles today? Let's bundle up and get out there! Go, go go! C'mon peeps, we can do this!
