Thanks DRC2205.

It looks like I'll do a little more research before I take the plunge.
If I try it, I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I have a Cateye Strada Wireless... I'll put that on for now.

Thanks.

Riding a bike is FUN!
The treadmill is NOT!

Never argue with idiots... They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I tried the Map My Ride app once. It ate up the battery on the iPhone as well. In addition, I like keeping my phone secured when I ride, which means I can't look at it while I m riding. I much prefer having the cyclometer mounted on the handlebars to look at.

And I have my phone in case I get lost and need the GPS feature, or to *gasp* make a phone call for help!

Thanks Kestrel 500.

I was looking at something like the following two examples:

One with more advanced features (and cost)
www.ibikesports.com/ibikedash/idash_
ib
ikedash.html

Something a little more basic:
www.abvio.com/cyclemeter/

I am going to put a computer on my new bike and it seemed that the iPhone had a lot of really great features (if they work).
Not to mention that it's also nice to have a phone and camera with you as well.

I did use the IMap my ride app on my HTC Evo android phone and it worked well, however it ate up my battery so I wouldn't be able to use it on longer rides without a backup power source. The Evo is well known for eating battery life, I don't know about the IPhone's battery life though.

My mantra: Exercise frequently! Eat reasonably!

There are apps and hardware that allow you to use the iPhone as a cyclocomputer.
They have basic functions as well as some really advanced ones (like a power meter), not to mention the GPS feature.
I was trying to find out if anyone has any experience using the phone for this purpose..

I was wondering if anyone has had success using their iPhone as a cyclocomputer?
Any experience good, or bad, would be greatly appreciated.
