Here's a site I recently discovered and have used a bit:

bikecalculator.com/wattsUS.html

"Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (1Timothy´┐Ż4:7-8)

"Jesus answered, 'The most important [commandment] is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength'" (Mark 12:29-30).

My fiance' and I enjoy mountain biking. We are beginner/intermediate riders. Me being more of a beginner. We have tackled some tough trails. My longest (relatively flat) ride to date is 26.5 miles. It took us 2.5 hours to ride it. I enjoyed the flat ride. But I feel like I get a lot more out of the more difficult trails. I enjoy them more too. Finding trails near Baltimore was a challenge when we first moved here. But we have found a handful that are fun. We are still looking for a longer intermediate/advanced (grass/dirt/gravel) trail (not paved). If anyone knows of one, please share. Thanks. :)

Okay VDV115,

The website is www.abbike.com this is a long distance touring company. We have many rides. I lead the "Cross Country Challenge" (San Francisco to New Hampshire) most years but have lead other rides.

Thanks for putting this topic up, it's always fun to see what is out there.

I have a favorite link but hesitate to put it up since it is for a commercial company that I happen to work for in the summer.

The link is for a bike tour company specializing in long distance touring. I lead rides for them but at one time I was a customer. My first long bike ride is what gave me the incentive to quit smoking so I figure it might also be able to inspire others to get in shape. I see many people on the ride who are finally living their dreams.

Anyway if anyone wants me to post the link, let me know. If not then I will not. I don't want to seem like I am using this team or topic to market the company.

I consult www.roadbikereview.com a lot. Also, www.bikeradar.com and I always track my miles on my second favorite fitness site - dailymile.com . As far as tracking miles goes, I think it is much, much more intuitive than mapmyride and (sorry) SparkPeople.

One of my favorite sites is Bike Journal www.bikejournal.com

Great site, has an online journal where you can add your rides, it tracks your mileage, time, average speed, plus a host of other data. Best of all, the basic site is free.

I thought it might be handy to have a thread where we can put links to all of our favorite, interesting online cycling resources.

Let me start with a few. One I just discovered from another member of SparkPeople today: Active.com! There are many different athletic pursuits all gathered under one roof including a nice cycling section. Here's a sample of their latest Active Cyclist newsletter:

www.bikenewyork.org

www.peopleforbikes.org

www.railstotrails.org

That's all I can locate for now...add yours! :-)
